Watching Paul Ryan on Fox News Sunday. How do Republicans hope to win if they have zero enthusiasm and are so cautious that they don't seem to believe in their own policies. The average voter is dumber than half of the population and the average voter will look 20 seconds of Ryan's performance, declare normal political bullshit, he doesn't answer the questions and turn it off. Ugh, Romney needs to hire 25 normal people to advise him and get rid of professional losers.
Depressing. It looks more and more like our nation wants 4 more years of economic recession. (turning into a full-on depression.) The money print will continue, but like a sugar high, it won't last and will end up giving us economic diabetes. 4 more years of corruption - coming right up.
Come on Romney and Ryan - where's the fire? Democrats want a welfare state nation on the decline. They may get their wish.
Romney is running against TWO teams, one Obama and the Left and the media who are also Leftists. Why doesn't Romney call out the media, if you don't challenge the lies and blatant bias the average voter will believe the biased coverage and lies are true. Exactly what does Romney stand to lose if he challenges the media? How much more can they screw him? They challenge Obama on nothing.
I just heard someone on CSPAN say that if Romney wins, the Republican party will stay together. But that if Obama wins, it may split into the TP and the mods.
Not that I think Romney is doing well with the swing states, but they have to be taken individually. I haven't looked, but it doesn't matter if swing states are 52/40, provided the right states vote for the right candidate.
Depressing. It looks more and more like our nation wants 4 more years of economic recession. (turning into a full-on depression.)
That is exactly what I hope to avoid by voting for Obama. Obama might be ineffective, but Romney and Ryan's policies, especially with a Republican congress, are guaranteed to explode the deficit even further and plunge us into a recession or worse. Austerity is a certain path to economic chaos.
Remember back during the GOP primaries when edutcher used to refer to Romney as Milton and would keep on saying that it isn't over yet when it was obvious to anyone watching the primaries that they were over and Romney was going to be the nominee. Good times, good times. And it's good to see he's now a good Romney soldier, to the last. Never say die!

I agree that Austerity is a problem. But why is that?
Consider that taxation is forced spending. One might pay down their debt, store money in the bank, or even use that money to start a business.
But when one takes that money, and spends it on programs, it stimulates the economy. And when you borrow money from future generations, it does it as well. That money is going to be spent on goods and services. And who benefits when the economy is growing? Why, it's the ownership class.
The problem with this approach is it removes individual's ability to decide on their own how they want to direct their labor. Maybe they don't want a big screen TV. Maybe they would like to save that money for college. How does this work, when that money is taken by the government, and given to someone else to spend on drugs (yes, I've seen this happen first hand), or other things?
Well, it creates a world of dependency, and it prevents the MIDDLE CLASS because that's where most of the money comes from (including FICA) from being able to save money.
Getting back to individual responsibility is going to be very, very painful. And who knows whether it is even possible.
Sorry, I'm tired of the collective. I'm tired of watching my children's productivity being consumed by the government. I'm tired of watching bad investment decisions by governments, in which the only answer to programs that have net negative returns become larger, as the insane solution to their failure.
I'm ready to take the pain now for my children, to get back to individual responsibility. The current path is damn clear.
The burgeoning Hispanic community has a college matriculation rate of 13%. Even with all this affirmative action, the college matriculation rate of blacks is 17%. Compare that to whites in the high twenties, and asians in the low fifties.
Your solutions don't work. They are going to be incredibly expensive to unwind. And I, for one, am not interested in a two tier society of Michelle Obamas at the top managing the food we eat, getting a $300K salary to protect her hospital by pushing away the indigents from the emergency room, etc.
I'd rather leave a better tomorrow for my kids, thanks very much, and I'm willing to feel the pain. That's what the tea party is all about, you know. We will work hard to get out of the decline, and clean up the mess the "Well Meaninged", ineffective authoriatan state liberals have left us.

"Nope, you're lying - "nobody wants anything but freedom and prosperity."
Wrong. Plenty of people don't give a shit about freedom and prosperity. They think those concepts are "crazy". Instead, they want punitive tax rates and free government goodies. They see an all-encompassing government as a path to salvation. No – it’s a path to fascism. They see properity while the nation sinks into a hole.
But please, ignore all that and continue your obsessive anti-Mormon paranoia.

Behold Comedy Central. Where the kidz go to get their education on economics. The folks at propaganda CC central are constantly looking for secret meanings and scary boogiemen behind words like "Freedom" and "Individualism" and "prosperity". The left define those words and "out of touch" or "Nazi" or "Ayn Rand". Nobody on the left has ever read a novel by Rand.
To the left, "freedom and prosperity" = crazy buzzwords!
Tax payers sacrifice, jobs are gone and this administration wastes trillions of dollars. I'd be happy to sacrifice, but not for more of this blatant corruption.
The GOP developed the largest and most effective propaganda tool in the history of the world..Fox "news"..and still...still...complain about media bias...
Machine get a clue. MSNBC runs much farther to the left that Fox runs to the right. The White House even contacts MSNBC directly during on-air segments. The alphabet networks are not as bad as MSNBC, but they are fast approaching that level of absurd non-news pro-democrat/pro-Obama propaganda . That’s why polls how a huge decline in trust in the MSM. Also, the alphabet networks have millions more viewers than the cable news shows. btw- it's you lefties that constantly whine about one tiny little news outlet that isn't part of the Pravda Press.

What hell do you think Fox does day in, day out? on a much larger scale...every show harps the GOP crying point of the day...now it's "skewed" polls...
Marching orders go from Drudge, to Rush, to Fox and then to the GOP...
Whatever Drudge posts on Monday will be cried about in here on Tuesday...

I love the big Obama poll numbers. They lull the 47% into complacency. The only numbers that matters is the numbers that actually vote on election day. And I don't know a single conservative who won't be voting. And guess what? They're angry, they're going to show up and vote straight republican. just for spite.
Freder Frederson said... Depressing. It looks more and more like our nation wants 4 more years of economic recession. (turning into a full-on depression.)

I'd call that a pretty good parody.Oh. Wait. You were serious.
If millions of people are changing their perception of these men on a daily basis, then we are doomed. Nothing is happening that changes who these men were last week , last month, or last year.
I guess some people might have just recently crawled out from their man cave or crack house and stuck their finger in the air, but they probably won't find their way to the polls anyway. Still, I bet their vote gets counted somehow.
I was in Texas and Florida for the last few days. Not a lot of Presidential stickers or signs out, but I swear I did not see a single Obama sign, or sticker, and about dozen Romney. Maybe just dumb luck, but I don't see anybody bragging up the lightworker.
I don't believe the polls. Driving around Dane County yesterday I was struck by the lack of Obama/Biden lawn signs. In 2008, those signs were everywhere. Yesterday we didn't see many at all. I think there are a lot of people like me in Dane County who are reluctant to publicly state that they support Romney, but who will support Romney in the privacy of the voting booth. The secret ballot is a wonderful thing.
" Obama generally gets a "weekend bounce" of a couple of points.
No idea why that is."
Isn't the most obvious answer that more BHO supporters are busy doing something during the work week? What could they be doing during the work week while cons are at home watching Fox and collecting ss or other gov dough? Why is it that they're not home to answer the phone during the work week.
Crack is wrong about the "Mormon Conspiracy" but right that people, including poor people, want freedom and prosperity.
I just got back from spending some time with those poor people, and we were talking about the election. One of the participants - a black woman - said:
"What bothers me, though nobody will talk about it, is - if Romney is elected - he will always have the Mormon church whispering in his ear."
You guys can claim whatever you like about me, but, here in Utah, where normal people actually have to live with this cult controlling a larger part of their lives than they'd like, this is a very real concern. They see how Utah is run and know - not believe but know - Romney is a harbinger of things to come.
I met an ex-Mormon a few days ago, and he told me his story - he was born into Mormonism, met his wife on their missions, had seven kids, got talked into fundamentalist Mormonism by a midwife, and then, finally, got an aching feeling they were too-easily-led for their own good. His tale ended with the words, "Never follow a leader - never follow a leader - they're just after your money." I didn't agree but kept my mouth shut.
In the last two days, I have received two separate warnings about fluoride in the water. This is typical crazy cult talk, as we all should remember from Dr. Strangelove, and the reasoning is, in many ways, right out of that film. One guy was proud to announce he never drinks water - only Mountain Dew - and, now that the church has relaxed their policies, Pepsi. He did this to protect his health.
A few days ago, I was up early, and decided to do my grocery shopping before the crowds arrived. Among the items I wanted was a six pack of beer for after work. Of course, Utah beer is watered down, but I also had to wait until 7AM to make my purchase because - as the clerk informed me - the church has control over that as well.
Boyfriend deflection aside, I'm just telling you the reality of the situation ie if you can't sell yourself, don't be surprised if your pres campaign is a failure!
And your childish sarcasm notwithstanding, have unsubscribed to most political emails. btw, it's a very simple process. Indeed, Althouse surely receives more emails from Michelle and Barack than I do!
Out on the North Fork of Long Island these past few weekends, I had originally not seen any Obama yard signs...oh, there was 1. But there were numerous Romney-Ryans. Still are some and a few more, but this week several new Obamas went up. I wonder if the Democrats are doing a second wave, and would encourage the Republicans to do likewise.
As for Romney breaking through the media, the only idea I have is that during the debates, whenever he has free time, i.e. his opening or closing statements, or anytime he wants to duck a question, he should recite more or less fluently a laundry list of all the issues the media are hiding, and offer more detail, sources, etc., on his website, whattheyarenttellingyou.com or some such. It seems this is the only sort of time he will be able to message unfiltered.
Of course, Utah beer is watered down, but I also had to wait until 7AM to make my purchase because - as the clerk informed me - the church has control over that as well.
How "American."
Apparently the all-knowing Crack has never heard of blue laws.

Well, it is the weekend.
Depressing. It looks more and more like our nation wants 4 more years of economic recession. (turning into a full-on depression.)
The money print will continue, but like a sugar high, it won't last and will end up giving us economic diabetes.
4 more years of corruption - coming right up.
Come on Romney and Ryan - where's the fire?
Democrats want a welfare state nation on the decline. They may get their wish.
Then again, our corrupt media have a lot to do with this.
This is good news for you cons.
Now there'll be room for a Romney bounce, post debate! Change the narrative. New momentum. Cons will become pro-poll!
OTOH, if Romney doesn't improve you cons can go back to describing the polls as lies.
It's a win win, for cons.
Romney is running against TWO teams, one Obama and the Left and the media who are also Leftists. IT IS BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE CHRISTMAS.
Me thanks the NYT, PBS, NPR, WashPost, HuffPost, DailyBeast, and every-one else.
Our JournoList paid us big time.
We will win. We always will win. GOP must be destroyed again and again.
So, thanks every-one. See you all at the inauguration in January.
NB: In the interim, do donate for dinner with the POTUS and FLOTUS.
I don't believe it!
I'm out here on the left coast, and I'm not seeing the Obama 2012 bumper stickers. In fact, I see many more Obama 2008 stickers.
I just heard someone on CSPAN say that if Romney wins, the Republican party will stay together. But that if Obama wins, it may split into the TP and the mods.
Rasmussen realizes Willard is toast ie no need to continue carrying water for him.

In addition to the 4 or 5 we saw during the week.

"...that level of absurd non-news pro-democrat/pro-Obama propaganda."
I wondered how that societal breakdown in Looper occurred. Now I have an inkling...
Also, I saw a bumper sticker on a pickup truck yesterday that said, "Vote Mormon, Not Moron!"
Just a data point.
I've also taken a closer look at him and like a lot of what I've seen.
LOL!

Machine,
But, but, but they have Rush Limbaugh!!
I love the big Obama poll numbers. They lull the 47% into complacency. The only numbers that matters is the numbers that actually vote on election day. And I don't know a single conservative who won't be voting. And guess what? They're angry, they're going to show up and vote straight republican. just for spite.
Univision is doing a special on Fast & Furious tomorrow night - and it ain't favorable to Choomie.
Maybe this is where he kisses the Hispanic vote a fond farewell.
PS Check the photo of Hillary at HotAir. If she's running in '16, she'll have her face screwed on tighter than Marlene Dietrich.
The mere fact that it isn't 67% Romney/33% O'Bama is cause for great concern.
Obama generally gets a "weekend bounce" of a couple of points.
No idea why that is.

I'd call that a pretty good parody.Oh. Wait. You were serious.
In both cases (Nomennovum and crosspatch), what he said.
Does anyone know how rich Romney is vs how rich W is?
Irrelevant anecdotal sticker/sign #s notwithstanding, Althouse die hard con flock are in complete denial ...
ie nobody liked Willard (4) years ago and nothing has changed in the interim. Again, presidential elections come down to choices.
As always, this is not rocket science!
" nobody liked Willard (4) years ago..."
Not all of us are looking for a boyfriend. You don't really think those emails are really from Obama just to you, do you?
Oh, I'm sorry. I probably shouldn't have said anything. I'm sure he talks about you all time, when Michelle isn't around.
" Obama generally gets a "weekend bounce" of a couple of points.

Isn't the most obvious answer that more BHO supporters are busy doing something during the work week? What could they be doing during the work week while cons are at home watching Fox and collecting ss or other gov dough? Why is it that they're not home to answer the phone during the work week.
I'm stumped.
Buster,
Crack is wrong about the "Mormon Conspiracy" but right that people, including poor people, want freedom and prosperity.
How "American."

Boyfriend deflection aside, I'm just telling you the reality of the situation ie if you can't sell yourself, don't be surprised if your pres campaign is a failure!
David Brooks: Mitt Romney Is 'The Least Popular Candidate In History'
Mitt Romney: Unfit to Be President
Why Romney is losing
And your childish sarcasm notwithstanding, have unsubscribed to most political emails. btw, it's a very simple process. Indeed, Althouse surely receives more emails from Michelle and Barack than I do!
blessings
Oh - and that ex-Mormon guy?
He's had to change his name three times.
But no, it's definitely not a cult,....
"Utah beer is watered down"
This summer I was at a brewery in Moab, the IPA seemed watered down.
But, Moab didn't seem very LDS.
pbAndjFellowRepublican,

Utah is LDS. Moab is a hippie/progressive stronghold, like Park City, but it's still in Utah - and under control of the "church."
Willard should just try to be himself in the debate. Oh wait!
