Actually, one of the actors, Carleton Young went on to be part of the Ford Stock Company and was seen in a great many character roles in pictures like "The Horse Soldiers" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (if memory serves he's the one with the line, "When truth and legend don't agree, print the legend").
Laurence Meade is an immortal horticulturist who began a campaign in 1936 to make marijuana illegal, increasing the market value of the plants he grew. He also intended to change the name to Meadajuana, but that didn't stick.
Somewhat ironically, mead [same root as Meade] is an alcoholic drink made from honey.
Best band name ever (imho) is Jimmy Buffet's 'Coral Reefer Band'. Somewhere in a storage closet, Buffet's gotta have a carton of pinkish-orange rolling papers.
LM and AA, how long have you known of this 'coincidence'?
My grandfather would occasionally bleat about his knowledge of some of the cousins getting all ganji'd up..he'd say, "I don't understand why someone would spend money for a bag of weeds"...
Both Romney and Obama agree that marijuana is more dangerous than cocaine and have made it clear that they will continue on with the War on Marijuana.
All due respect, but you have to be insane, ignorant and/or evil to vote for a President that actually beleives (and will enforce!) this Reefer Madness nonsense.
Only inasmuch as we are all related to everyone in some way or another, MadisonMan, o brother.
Reefer Meade was probably a descendant of the Philadelphia Meades (George Gordon Meade) while I, like Robin Meade, am a descendant of the Scottish Meades of Dunfermline.
I am not related, nor can I relate, to that reeefer-smoking phony baloney cultural anthropologist, Margaret Mead. Thank goodness.
"LM and AA, how long have you known of this 'coincidence'?"
When I first started emailing with him about meeting in person, I wrote something like "Maybe you should tell me your real name." I had Googled the name, found "Reefer Madness," and assumed he appropriated the name -- which you can imagine caused me to have some doubts about him!
That's when I offered her my social security number so she could run a criminal background check on me if she wanted to know everything. You can imagine, after she declined my offer, the suspicions I had of her having any common sense whatsoever!

Laurence Meade?
O, tell it not in Christendom!

Meade has aged nicely. Must be better living through chemistry.
Saw the "documentary" 40 years ago at a midnight flick showing.
Speaking of docs, google 2016: Obama's America and you get a lot of ((( anti-Obama ))) links. Shocking!

That explain the painting delays.
I'm kidding.

Google the word "Obama" and you get a lot of anti-Obama links. :)
It's better to be talked about than not talked about at all ~ Oscar Wilde
Just ask Clint Eastwood! :D
Google the term "2016" and you get a lot of show times. Amazing!
Google "Obama 2012" and you get a decent into madness. Predictable!
Google "2016" is not anti-Obama and you get Meade ...
Only if you've been hitting Shiloh's bong again.
So Meade is also a screenwriter of fiction ...
When I google 'Eastwood' speech comes up first and chair third.
If the meme was meant to dismiss his words... its not working... like Althouse said, it may be having the opposite effect.
I was too stoned to notice.
I guessed right but am shocked it is also Laurence with a "U"!

Reefer Meadness.
So Meade's work later inspired the Choom Gang and everything else that followed...talk about a "gateway drug."

Any relation?
