Bingo and Joey win first place!

At The Dog Jog today, here on campus. Neither Meade nor I was the human being on the other end of the leashes, and Bingo and Joey are not actually our dogs. We just borrow them. But we thought you'd like to see them with their blue ribbons. Congratulations!

Jogging with those dogs could be quite a sprint.

Many congrats to dogs and owners.

And to their borrowers (whom we assume were in attendance).

Any association with you or Meade would have doomed their chances. This is Madison.

Two dogs won first place?

"Two dogs won first place?"

It's Madison - everybody won.

Did you borrow them without asking?

They look proud of their medals.

Good job Bingo. Good job Joey. Give them a treat.

I think it's a team, with an owner and whatever dogs that individual has. More about the owner, really I think. I mean why did those dogs win? I assume it was the speed of the human that determined the outcome.

Unless the dogs drug the owners across the finish line a la sled dogs.

Good for them.

Does dog rhyme with jog in Wiscosin?

"Beautiful smiles!"

Aren't they? They are very happy and healthy dogs - and very well cared for by their four human children and two adults. And the next door neighbor walks them regularly everyday. We feel very lucky - and honored - to have them shared with us.

They are a gorgeous duo.
And they look especially good posing with their medals.

Congrats to Bingo and Joey!

The Dog Jog is a great fundraiser for local humane societies; one of my favorite former profs is usually in charge of it. Super-nice lady, excellent teacher.

Definitely a worthy cause!

How will this blog change after Althouse succumbs to the

"It's a puppy! Can I keep it?! Can I keep it!?"

strategy of Meade?

Awwwww...

Good boys!

Unless every dog got a blue medal?

Cause then that would be a lot less "cute".

Honestly, Bingo and Joey need to know EXACTLY how well they did against their competition.

Now I say that assuming there were no greyhounds prancing around Madison that day.

Penny said...

Not a "fair" race if Joey and Bingo got blue ribbons for sniffing up the backside of a greyhound for the first 100 yards.

That question represents such a misconception of the sort of person Meade is (and the relationship we have).

Bingo?

Is that YOU?

I'm fond of these recent "dog thread posts"...because I am biased toward dogs & horses, but mainly because they are a nice comfortable break for the horrors in the world today. I can escape.

So thank you Ann & Meade. Bingo and Joey seem like beautiful dogs and companions/visitors.

Good thing I'm not entered as Ari & Dera would be disappointed by last place regularly. No speed afoot here. If you ever see me running, be very afraid, something huge fast and bad is in pursuit.

Unless the dogs drug the owners across the finish line a la sled dogs.

Now that might work out better...Ari is aloof, steadfast, and regulates his speed over distance, while Dera thinks she's part sight hound and has two speeds, full speed+ or dead stop, to sniff stinky stuff on the doggie Internet.

I got to have the only Siberian Husky that won't pull a thing. At the least resistance she balks. It makes her a pleasure to walk, but sometimes I'd like a little help up a hill.
She went on an unsupervised walk about yesterday. A neighbor lady brought her back.

"We just borrow them." I had no idea people borrow dogs. At first I assumed you meant that you look after them when their owners are away. But maybe you do borrow them. Why? And why do the owners let you borrow their dogs? This seems like an interesting and novel arrangement to me.

They are the coolest ever, Cosmo The Bear!

We could adopt dogs of our own I suppose but then we would have no good reason to borrow Bingo and Joey.

And Bingo and Joey are The Best.
