As I think about this -- in the 19th or 20th centuries, was it common to sexualise one's political enemies like this? It seems like rhetorical sexualisation -- really, rhetorical rape -- has become awfully common under the surface of modern politics. We saw a lot of it with Palin, but she's certainly not the only victim. Hillary Clinton got it too from Obama supporters during the 2008 primary.
I really do believe future generations will look back at us and laugh at our bizarre obsession with sex and sexuality. We've elevated it to the level of a Constitutional principle. If that's not obsession I don't know what is.
