"Hey, whatever happened to Ann Romney's horse?"

"Somehow this is making me think about that."

I say, just now, looking at this.

"Ann Romney's horse fails to win dressage but avoids offending British"

So, all things considered, a better trip to the Olympics than Mittens had.

Re equestrian events, it is not just the horse; it is the horse and rider as a team. Not much different than Polo, or any rodeo event. It is quite inspiring to see horse and rider compete. (of course, given the photo montage of OBV, women's beach volleyball remains my favorite olympic event :)

Yeah, when I'm at a water polo tournament, people ask me how much skill it takes to prevent the horses from drowning.

There isn't enough ass on the courts, they have to have cheerleaders too?

Roger J. ayon kay ...

AndyR: your point, sir? I am totally flummoxed by your comment. explicate please? I wasnt aware that horses were involved in water polo. You do understand that polo and water polo are two different sports--one involves horses and riders, that would be polo; the other involves humans in a pool playing a game roughly based on land based polo--perhaps not.

It's just Hat, Roger. Don't expect sense. He'll take any chance to make a slam at Romney.

Kylos ayon kay ...

Perhaps it is because you saw the captions that indicated the volleyball matches were played on the horse grounds.

Horses?
Really?
I had another animal in mind.
All kidding aside...strong, beautiful women. What is there not to like?

edutcher ayon kay ...

Nice tushes.

I like them a little fuller, but I suppose The Blonde is right, a lot of bouncing can be a distraction.

Turns out the Romster was right, though.

Hatman likes a POTUS who is both wrong and purposely offensive.

Maybe the losing horses from can perform in the new closing ceremony event where the naked beach volleyball ladies ride them bare back while holding flags.

I put my bet on Bo Derrick to score the 10.

All fun aside, beach volleyball players are serious jocks who work hard all year round.

As a native Ca guy, how do I explain the fact that most are also hot?

Likely the self selection. The hot girls go to the beach. The hot athletic ones play serious Vball.

PS: Nobody asks why all the black guys want to be NBA stars, why question why all the hot blonds want to be Vball players.

PS: Althouse must be in a ratings war. pretty soon, she'll go the AoS route and use VBall pics for her photo cafes :)

Automatic_Wing ayon kay ...

I thought it was going to be a picture of Sarah Jessica Parker.

You didn't see the post about the women's water polo team.

Dressage is now something to sneer at since a rich Repub got involved, so the media sort of ignores it.

Rafalco did pretty well but did not medal.

wyo sis ayon kay ...

This Olympics seems to be more about hot bodies and snark than I remember other Olympics being. Maybe because it's in London.

Carnifex ayon kay ...

Now give Andy credit. The drowning horses was funny...when Jack Bennny said it.

I got to see Rafalca while convoles...conver...getting better. Beautiful horse. Much better looking than Sarah Jessica Parker.

I'm waiting for the just a band aid look for beachwear to come out very soon.

Girls cupping other girls ass=hot
guys cupping other guys ass=not hot

I would prefer pictures of the Men's swim teams.

What was the question?

gadfly ayon kay ...

Thanks for that. I looked carefully at every photo. I thought I was going to see pictures of the stupid Olympic equestrian competition

Great pics!

I very much enjoyed the beach volleyball coverage. If you've ever played volleyball, you'd know that it's a tough enough game to play without the sand and with a few more teammates. Two players to a side involves amazing athleticism in my view.

And I really didn't mind the skimpy bikinis, either. They have incredible bodies. It's pretty cool to see those bodies in action. Just gorgeous, in fact.

Ps

Check out the Austraian Synchronised Swimming Team...There's some fair dinkum Shiela's in that group

Watched the Gold Medal Match between Trainor/Walsh VS. Kessy/Ross. Glad it was late and the kids were asleep.

Rafalco did pretty well but did not medal.

Jan Ebeling and Rafalco scored a 69.302% which is very respectable, but pretty far down when thousandths of a percent count.

Tina Konyot and Calecto V earned a 70.651. This gave the US team a 72.435 for sixth place.

The UK team earned the gold with a 79.979, a super-score in dressage.

I love dressage for many reasons. One is honest scoring. A perfect test is 100%, yet the best I ever seen personally was a 85 in a Prix St. Georges test in Ocala, FL. Contrast this with skating or gymnastics where the ideal is 10, and the top competitors score in the 9s, as if their tenths away from perfection.

Quaestor ayon kay ...

Somehow I left out Steffen Peters and his horse Ravel, who earned a 76.254%, thus gaining a ride in the Individual Freestyle, which is happening NOW.

Correction: as if they're...

I hate misuse of there, their, they're -- and here I am doing it as well. At least I fixed myself.

wv: 7 bodiek -- I thought bodiek was a 10.

Quaestor,

I think (or at least I rationalize to myself) that it's an aging thing. It happened not at all to me ten years ago, but now I need continually to catch myself -- about homophones especially, but also anent garden-variety typos. I've been an editor for long enough that I still can catch the little buggers within a few words of typing them, but it's unnerving all the same.
