Mr. Holder's Council of Black Churches address is merely the latest of his election-year moves that charge racial discrimination of one kind or another. These include voting-rights lawsuits to block voter ID laws in Texas and South Carolina, intervention in immigration cases in Arizona, and various housing and lending discrimination suits. Whatever the legal merits of these cases, their sudden proliferation in an election year suggests a political motivation.
The courts will eventually expose much of this as meritless, but it's a shame the media won't call Mr. Holder on this strategy before the election. Imagine the uproar if a Republican AG pursued a similar strategy. It's worse than a shame that America's first black Attorney General is using his considerable power to inflame racial antagonism.

Eric Holder "implies that Jim Crow is on the cusp of a comeback" — why?
The Wall Street Journal says it's a cynical election move.

Why not? He faces literally zero consequences for previous bad actions, like not providing documents to Congress and potentially perjuring himself. So, a little political hyperbole is a no risk, all reward venture.
He's a tool. A racist tool of a marxist socialist and he's being used as one. I'm surprised he hasn't conjured up the imagery of lynchings and cross burnings yet.
Thats what happens when you appoint racists to positions of power.
I don't think it is a cynical election year move. I think Eric Holder is not quite right in the head and will wind up with a nervous breakdown.
And I do not think he has any control over even the Justice Department itself, never mind its subsidiary agencies. Everybody are just doing their own things, some from ideology, some from intra-agency politics, and many from both.
This kind of crap could get somebody hurt.
A lot of people, actually, if there are riots after an electoral rebuke.
Way back in January 2001 we were officially notified of Holder's corruptness when he acted as the Yenta and bag man for Clinton in brokering the sale of the pardon to Marc Rich in exchange for cash. This just a couple of hours before Clinton left office. So why be shocked now? This is just part of the overall dirty package we got with Obama.
They're playing small ball, Alinsky style, but on a national scale. Dangerous.
After the horrible job numbers and gay marriage support, they are inciting their base. For whatever. Votes, riots. Whatever.

Yes, it is. But it's not a shame (nor unrelated) that they become just a little bit more irrelevant each year.
Well he does work for a white black. With all that white in his boss, his boss must have all sorts of animosity for blacks. After all, whites are completely racist against blacks, even the half white and half blacks. They just hate their other half.
The black churches & the black leadership are pulling out all the stops: if we don't get Obama in, it's back to Jim Crow.
You think I'm engaging in hyperbole? Well, then take a listen to this.
"These include voting-rights lawsuits to block voter ID laws in Texas and South Carolina..."
On a related note, I heard on the radio on the way in today that due to the possibility of intra-party ugliness related to Taxagewea at the Massachusetts Democratic Convention tomorrow, state democrats are going to require that delegates produce photo ID to gain access and cast their floor votes. Heh.
Holder oughta know. Without exception, Jim Crow laws were written, voted for, and instituted by Democrats.
What a blinkered ideolog Holder is. I can't offhand think of a more corrupt AG.
It is an act of desperation...they know they are going to lose in November and they are losing it.
Sorta disappointing that the first black president and AG are both incompetent marxist bigots.
Ah well.
Let's not forget, black clergy are very angry with the First Gay President and "my people" has to do something to misdirect them.
OTOH, if it were within Zero and Holder's power, they'd be all too happy to institute James Crow on white people, to be enforced by the New Black Panthers, who'd be free to play the knockout game with every white person they found.

Holder knows if they lose he is going to jail. They are pulling out all the stops to keep this from happening.
I just read that the DOJ is also telling Florida it can't purge its voter records of non-citizens.
Incredible!
Tribalism and racism are just human versions of a very natural tendency that's common to many species. We have decided correctly that it's not a good thing for a global society to allow it to be part of our society. That would work just fine and control the problem if we didn't simultaneously pretend that some people are immune from it and based that on race. That makes no logical sense and is certainly countered by the evidence around us and throughout history. As soon as you give some people an artificial immunity to the charge, you just guarantee that the ugly business will continue. I call racist on Holder.
What is most disgusting is that Holder knows damned well that he's lying, and fomenting racial discord in the process, and he actually wants it. I find that even more despicable than the old fashion variety. racism has evolved into something very inexcusable. At least the old fashion kind had it's basis in ignorance which people are born into. Holder knows what he's doing. That's just evil.
Judging from that photograph, I'd say Eric Holder's got some Cherokee in him.
Incredible!
I'd say insanity. But how else will they win, without large scale fraud? I am not a conspiracy theorist type, but all the emphasis on how frightening it is for people to be required to use ID's to vote really doesn't seem reasonable if you are not trying to make it easier for fraud.
"Eric Holder "implies that Jim Crow is on the cusp of a comeback" — why?"
That's an easy one: because the Democrats are in charge, and they want to re-impose some of their racist policies and programs.
. . .all the emphasis on how frightening it is for people to be required to use ID's to vote really doesn't seem reasonable if you are not trying to make it easier for fraud.
The funny thing, Shanna, is that the Dominican Republic just had a presidential election, and DR residents in Massachusetts were required to have an ID for that vote. And yet, when the local paper asked whether they thought they should have to show ID to vote in America. . .well, they didn't like that very much.
And of course, when you don't get the "it's too hard to get an ID" argument, you get the "you just don't want minorites voting because they vote Democrat." To which my answer is always "you're almost right."
My reasoning is the same as John Derbyshire's thought on why federal employees should not be allowed to vote. If you profit from government largesse, I don't want you voting. I don't want parasites to make decisions on how much of my money they're going to steal. And if you add to that the illegality of no legitimate reason to be in the country. . .well, I want to make it as hard as possible for you to vote. I want you to prove you're a citizen before you whine about me paying my fair share.
"Judging from that photograph, I'd say Eric Holder's got some Cherokee in him."
Rumor has it that he's 1/16th human.
Obama's/Holder's race baiting is despicable. Remember how his election was going to heal the wounds? He's opening up new ones for his own personal benefit.
A lot of support from the government to the black community relies on the legacy of racial discrimination. So it makes sense that most black politicians will play this up, even if it is anachronistic.
The irony is that at bottom the Obama/Holder strategy as we get nearer to election day in November will amount to terrorizing blue haired little old white ladies sufficiently with threats of violence at polling stations to keep them home.
This is "Critical Race Theory" at work, isn't it?
He is expressing his belief that white people mistreat blacks anywhere/anytime possible, and since the institutions were established by whites, they are also used to mistreat blacks, even as they claim to help.
So it is an evil, diabolical plan by whites to destroy black families and culture through welfare, drugs, and AIDs.
Thus, once they manage to get into a position of power like Obama and Holder have, payback is justified.
That really explains almost everything we've seen/heard from the Obama administration, doesn't it?
OMike,
"Remember how his election was going to heal the wounds? "
Remember how so many of us saw through that ploy the moment it was uttered?
Keeping the narrative going requires abandonment of any moral consideration.
Post-modern racism on display courtesy of 'Shaky".
Hilarious. Holder seeks to enforce the disenfranchisement of eligible American citizens. At the federal level alone, there is a redistribution of over $1 trillion annually in non-contributory entitlements to American citizens, legal immigrants, and illegal aliens. Holder has no legitimate excuse for the commission of voter fraud due to inability to verify eligibility.
This guy is so corrupt and he only compounds his sins when he attempts to exploit the past in order to repeat it.
Nathan Alexander:
It's the Tutsi slaughter Hutu slaughter Tutsi cycle of social or progressive justice. Whether it manifests as redistributive or retributive change, it is insane and short-sighted. Still, when the foundation is crumbling, it does act as a good distraction, and does reset the system -- much like war. It also offers a perfect opportunity to effect a change of order.
"Remember how so many of us saw through that ploy the moment it was uttered?"
I do. I thought it was apparent half way through the campaign.
To be fair to Holder, he did not use the term "Jim Crow" when speaking.
He did, however, speak explicitly about civil-rights rollbacks or setbacks.
Fear of prison time can make people say the dumbest things. Even a last-second US pardon by Obama wouldn't make it impossible to extradite Holder to Mexico to face conspiracy charges related to crimes committed in Mexico with Fast & Furious guns.
This administration has completely cheapened and degraded the term "racism" (and "sexism" and "homophobia") to the point of parody. This term is not only no longer relevant, it now signifies political game-playing first and unfair discrimination second.
Well done, Barry.
The Clinton Administration did the same thing to the term "feminist."
