"I feel like throwing up when I hear it. No, I shouldn't say that. No, actually, I do feel like throwing up."

"I wish I could say, 'Oh listen, everybody! It's the Celine Dion song!' But I don't. I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll."

Kate Winslet experiences seasickness on the Titanic... song.

Welcome to the club, Kate!

Seriously, though, this is one of the most overplayed movie songs of all times. And it feels like total overkill that they're bringing that movie back now after we heard so much of the other most overplayed movie song--"I Will Always Love You"--following Whitney Houston's death.

On the other hand, maybe Kate Winslet and Rick Santorum should have a throwing-up party. She can respond to this song, and he can respond to John F. Kennedy's speech about religion.

Life isn't easy for the decorous bulimic.

Perhaps Winslet is a future Mrs. Creosote?

What an ingrate. Without the movie, and the music was integral to the success of the movie, where would she be? Nowhere. Entertainers need to learn to STFU since without the public most of them would be lucky to be working class.

Micheal Jordan who isn't a well educated and credtialled person has the intelligence, wisdom and business acumen to realize this when asked about why he doesn't endorse democrats said " because republican's also buy sneakers".
in that one sentence he has encapusaled more bussiness sense than most MBA programs.

Winslet is foolish enough not to to understand this.

I'm relieved. I thought this was going to be a post about Santorum.

She makes the same point in the linked-to article.

I think the movie would have done just fine without Celine's treacly screaching.

I hear Inspector Callahan gets a little testy any time someone asks him to make their day or if he feels lucky.

Too much of a good thing.

And Steve has an excellent point.

Two, in fact.

No, the succulent Miss Winslet had a successful career before the ship bought the farm and the name recognition that followed didn't count for that much as she's done a lot of artsy, Merchant-Ivory stuff.

WV "ungory" What the Inspector's movies never are.

Winslet gives the movie credit for her career. I'm not sure how the original question was phrased, or how it even came up, but I can see where any actor or actress might grow sick to death of hearing some iconic song they're associated with being played over and over again. They play that song before almost every entrance she makes on a talk show. I hate that song, and I've probably only heard it a tenth as much as she has.

Madman teenage girls by the boatload made the fim a success and the music was strong part of it. Winslet made a lot of money getting roles based on the film's succes, that she wasn't in any other blockbusters since then is telling. Come to think of it the pretty boy also hasn't been in an equally succesful film either. But at least as far as I know has kept his mouth shut about the song.

If you look at her filmography, she has never been a Bond girl or Stifler's aunt or Ripley's second-in-command on the spaceship.

She does mostly art house stuff; not too much chance for a summer blockbuster in those, although she does get naked a lot.

Which makes her one of the greatest actresses of all time.

Problem is, you've got to keep the 13 year old boys in the seats between nude scenes and pseudo-urbane dialogue doesn't do it.

I'll go along with that and I will go along with Kate's thoughts on that song...though I can't say it with that nifty British accent. "Treacly" is exactly right.

It's the Celine Dion song!
"The"? How about "any".

KW, no doubt a fan of GG Allin, likes a little vomit with her reverb.
