It seems that Nigel has been withdrawing from the dementia bank.

I thought for sure, PP, that was going to lead to the B-52's.

I could go on a long scribe about how happiness comes from the heart and a healthy dose of self worth. I could but this guy doesn't merit it...one word is sufficient...dumbass.

Why this sudden avalanche of posts on happiness? Five in a row so far without a comment on current affairs or a "One year ago Wisconsin progressives rampaged through Madison's streets and parks like a barbarian horde" retrospective. (Yeah it's a fragment, but I'm being informally rhetorical here.) Is it a slow news day? (I'll wager Obama is wishing for a few slow news hours.) Is Ann embracing the Limbaugh paradigm with an open line Friday?

Frankly I'm skeptical of happiness as an objective state so Dr. Seligman can return to the old drawing board. I hope he has plenty of chalk. Happiness is serves us best as an unrealized goal... a summit in the clouds, so to speak. Happiness, like a warm puppy, has its downsides

I have the iPhone app for it... much more convenient

Nice idea, but it doesn't work that way. Sometimes a sound or taste or even a smell, sometimes just a transitory feeling, can transport me to a good moment I had once.

Just mechanically recalling won't, necessarily.

I give the guy points for originality and good intentions, though.

One of two things:

Either Meadhouse is feeling justifiably proud of their work last year

Or

Ann launched into one of her reflective monologues after Meade flipped the pancakes onto her plate this morning while making one of his pithy, incisive observations of the human condition.

I take no pleasure in recalling the good moments Good or bad, they're all gone and gone forever. I've got tons of bad memories. I take pleasure in recalling them and thinking that all that crap is over. I have a few happy memories, but they come with the sad awareness that they will never happen again and cannot be topped in thsese last few years.
