"For them the whole mountain is a temple..."

"... and the gold and silver below the ground are there for a reason — they contribute to the energy, and it would be best if they just left it alone."

Religion versus mining.

To me the gold and silver are best worshipped if dug up, so we seem to be at a mexican standoff...

I would bet that the peyote works just as well without the gold. In fact, I would be willing to bet all the gold it does.

I hope they own the mountain or buy it... otherwise who knows what will happen to the their temple.

Caution: The mountain gods are much meaner than the flat land gods. This eternal truth plays out in Afghanistan as we speak.

I wonder what will the people say when the Moon one and only is being mined by the Gingrich Development Company.

Oops, this keyboard has dyslexia.

"The one and only moon," was the subject.

The mining company should work to convert all 50,000 Huichol to Roman Catholicism. The left will then assist everyone to destroy the Huichol and the treasure will be available.

I think I've seen this movie.

Gregory Peck, Omar Sharif, Telly Savalas.

Julie Newmar gets naked.

I want to know what this 'energy' is they are speaking about? I always here about the 'energy'. What is it? What are it's properties? What does it do? Where does it come from?

I think they're full of shit and this is ex post facto reasoning. This wouldn't be the first, or last, time claims have been made for land with no historical basis.

I've been saying that for years....anti-mining is a religious view.

No matter how safe the mine will be, for certain people, they can't allow it because any and all mining is against their religion.

See Flambeau copper mine in Ladysmith as an example. The mine opened, closed, land reclaimed, no problems at all. Yet the anti-mining folks still bitch about that mine.

Plenty of mountains in the universe. Most aren't where we can dig.

Money. Follow the money. Greed, for want of a better word, is good. He who has the gold makes the rules.

I think we all know how this is going to end. I'm not one for cultural equallism,(?having a brain fart), but am I wrong to morn for the deaths of these people already?

If the natives would just convert to Islam then they would be left alone to do as they please.
