"As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney vetoed a bill paying for kosher food for our seniors in nursing homes. Holocaust survivors, who for the first time, were forced to eat non-kosher, because Romney thought $5 was too much to pay for our grandparents to eat kosher. Where is Mitt Romney's compassion for our seniors? Tuesday you can end Mitt Romney's hypocrisy on religious freedom, with a vote for Newt Gingrich. Paid for by Newt 2012."
That Gingrich: He's a survivor.

Yup.
BBt Newt's trying to reach the DEPENDS crowd, in Florida. And, Newt speaks the truth. While all the witnesses ... who were alive in Massachusetts ... when they were in old age homes, back in the 1960s, are probably dead, now.
Plus, the grandchildren never came to visit.
Newt needs to peel away some of Romney's voters. You know these people! They couldn't punch their ballots hard enough ... back in 2000 ... that the only trail they left were hanging chads.
Just you wait. Up ahead you're gonna see Jeb Bush being rolled out ... should Mitt's "fantastic run" ... end up petering out.
What are nursing homes like now, with Viagra available?
Oy.
The line Newt is feeding us is 100% glatt treif. I'm not a big Romney supporter, but Newt's claim is false. Romney's budget cut plan was to end on-site kosher kitchens in this case, and have kosher food provided by an off-site vendor. It would have saved money, and they still would have eaten kosher. It was killed, by th eway, by the Dems.
Either Newt and I mean different things by the term "holocaust survivor" or he is claiming that the Nazis served Kosher meals in the concentration camps.
Gingrich sure knows how to act presidential. There is nothing comical about the idea of him leading the country.
I feel like if the jews were still willing to vote for Romney after the Mormons baptized dead holocaust jews, then this kosher food dispute isn't going to make a difference.
That Gingrich: He's a survivor.
That last sentence is a lie without even having to bother with the rest of it. No matter what happens Tuesday, it won't end Romney's bid.
Just curious: Would a law allowing $5 extra for Jewish seniors to have kosher meals violate the establishment clause? Like giving Christian social security recipients extra money for Bibles, Sunday clothes, and gas to attend church? Maybe Romney was just being constitutionally principled.
Ugh. What dreck.
Andy R.'s next book: Protocols of the Elders of the LDS.
First the holocaust and now cheeseburgers.
It's a shanda!
Be hysterically funny if Newts billionaire extreme Zionist sugar daddy, Sheldon Adleson, paid for the ad.
Or if he he wasn't involved - how he feels as a Jew about demogogue exploiting the Holocaust to futher his political ambitions.
Shelly isn't looking too good these days through his close association with Newt.
Andy R.'s next book: Protocols of the Elders of the LDS.
So basically this? Romney and the White Horse Prophecy
I thought the anti-mormon stuff would be mostly "haha magic underwear" but that article has some scary shit.
Bob_R: That's the same reaction I had. Concentration Camps kept Kosher? Who knew!
There's a whole lot of not-kosher bloodletting going on.
Concentration Camps kept Kosher?
There was an attempt by some jews to maintain and ritual in concentration camps. I heard one survivor in Israel talking about being beaten by the guards for fasting on yom kippur.
There was also a prayer book recently donated to yad vashem that had been re-written by memory by a holocaust survivor.
It wouldn't survive me if there were some camp survivors who tried to avoid eating non-kosher when they could, although my understanding of orthodox practice is such a thing would not have been expected during the holocaust.
Newt wasting his breath trying to reach the alter kockers in Miami Beach who all vote the straight Democratic ticket.
Shorter Andy: Mormons are scary and believe religious things!
If you don't like this robocall, you're obviously a RINO.
Because only RINOs would defend Mitt Romney...er... cutting a government program... um...?
Wait, I'll go back, I promise, I'll come up with some non-RINO-ey way to defend Mr. Newt here. Maybe Rush Limbaugh had something...
It's called we're going to get blown away.
If Milton wins by anything between 15 and 20 points, the Newtrinos will have a hard time staying in the game.

Even more so, our "interesting" POTUS.
Andy R. wrote: I thought the anti-mormon stuff would be mostly "haha magic underwear" but that article has some scary shit.
Did you know that the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary?
Someone should take that Hitler movie scene and dub in some of Newt's supporters sobbing and weeping.
Every day I think: surely we can't go any lower.
Every day I'm wrong.
@Bob_R (2:50 pm) -- Good call. That's pretty much what you'll find at Andy R's link.
"John Stodder said...

Besides Sheldon Aldeson funding Holocaust demogoguery - it is also amusing that the Republicans have let a fat drug-addicted talk show host get away for years with claiming he best knows who is RINO and who is not.
Rush - Being a drug addict is RINO territory. Living in a mansion full of delicate ornate Frenchie stuff and eating snails is RINO. Spending you whole life doing nothing but radio and being a well-paid entertainer in the Media Elites is pretty RINO-ish.
Oh, and would somebody please--please!--do a Downfall spoof with Hitler responding angrily to Newt's drops in the polls?

Hillary loosing to Obama in the primaries is still my favorite.
Whatever happens in Florida on Tuesday is going to be old news in a hurry.
I have a better question. Can anyone vote in the republican primary in Florida?
You mean to tell me all the old folks you saw showing up for Mitt Romney weren't there for the free food?
So far, they all look like Obama voters to me. And, among them are also the group who went to vote in 2000. And, didn't press hard enough. So Florida gave you "hanging chads."
While I never heard of a Jewish kid named Chad, before.
But I have heard of old people complaining that their kids never come to visit.
WHAT HAPPENS IN FLORIDA STAYS IN FLORIDA!
There's hundreds of millions more that's gonna be spent on negative advertisements, ahead.
The media will tell you everything is very close ... because it's good for their business! (Drudge, on the other hand, is a risk taker.)
By the way, the media couldn't get rid of Sarah Palin! Do you know how she survives? She Tweets.
There are more opinions across America than you can shake a stick at.
All I know, so far, is that Mitt Romney is a media favorite.
Meanwhile, come election day, I doubt people will be tuning in the media to get election results. Do you know why? Electronic signaling works faster over the Internet. Even if the government sets up jamming devices.
Even if Gallup sues blogs for copyright infringement.
You know the Kosher Eating Crowd makes up about 3% of the electorate.
Some people like to compare Gingrich to Churchill. Well Churchill lost two out of three elections he contested as Conservative leader, and he lost the first one by saying his Labour opponents would set up a Gestapo in Britain. This might be Newt's Churchill moment.
Did they air-brush out the walkers?
How did the old folk come to gather themselves? Were their bus rides?
It looked like a casting call for the Golden Girls.
Or, maybe, it was just an outing for the old folks? And, the most attractive feature? FREE!
Too bad nobody photographed the parking lots! How many Handicapped stalls were filled?
Yeah. Exactly how do you transport all the old people?
You think I'm kidding?
Romney's appeal is that he has class, unlike that commoner Newt who has been nothing but a common politician, writer and consultant.
Heck, Newt doesn't even have his own family planet out there.
So Newt needs to act like the common street fighter they accuse him of being.
"Gullible" is in my dictionary, Henry, at 3:11PM. You see, I'm not easily fooled. But you made me look. I love my Funk & Wagnall's.
That Gingrich: He's a survivor.
That last sentence is a lie without even having to bother with the rest of it.
I think you misread Althouse's tone there.
As for me-- well, Newt just keeps revealing his character for what it is. But remember, people, listen to Sarah: Newt's the martyr, being crucified by all those damn Stalinist Alinskyist attacks!
It's hard to imagine anything lower than this: not just patently lying about what Romney did, a ridiculously misleading attack (and moreover one from the *left*), but actually having the shamelessness to pull the Holocaust card-- on elderly Jews in Florida.
He's a survivor all right. Like a cockroach.
Heck, Newt doesn't even have his own family planet out there.
He's no Nigel Sheldon, that's for sure. On the other hand, he's definitely working on the harem concept.
Heh, the Gestapo asked Freud if he would kindly sign a statement saying that the Gestapo had not harmed him on his way out of Austria. He was so happy with them he added 'I would recommend the Gestapo to all my friends.' As my daughter said, 'No wisdom of the staircase for Freud.'
That Gingrich: He's a survivor.
It sounds more like "Fear Factor".
You know, I never found Romney appealing.
I don't even hear this brought up in conversations.
Personally, I don't think a heck of a lot of people across America give a rat's ass at what Floridian's do.
Sand State. Nevada's next. Another sand state. Good place to have invested money, if you like watching money going down the drain hole.
The media, meanwhile, is setting the agenda. And, most people are looking forward to the Superbowl. Do you know one of the reasons why? Well, you just can't call the Superbowl's results in advance.
Ditto, what happens after Florida.
Newt didn't waste a whole lot of "stuff" on robo-calls. Maybe, next time there will be a polling done on preferences between bagels and lox. And, pastrami sandwiches.
Are there no longer any delicatessens in Miami ... where politicians can go and get swarmed by an elderly crowd?
Oh, and would somebody please--please!--do a Downfall spoof with Hitler responding angrily to Newt's drops in the polls?
Hitler goes Stormchasing is still the greatest. But I can't find it on youtube right now. Ah well.
Better than Althouse serving us a glass of donkey semen (with a urine chaser).
Since when does “religious freedom” mean that taxpayers have to pay for someone’s dietary preferences even if said dietary preferences are part of their religion?

This fight to re-align both parties so that the the white working class votersare unneeded and ignored voting bloc is very interesting.
FDR had made them into Dems base in the 1930s
Reagan then realigned them into the GOP base 32 years ago.
The Dems have since written them off.
And now along comes the GOP establishment, who never liked Reagan or the current tea party's pushiness and ghastley evangelical loyalties.
So Romney bluntly ridicules them and tells them they need him more than he needs them. He and Obama have the money, what have they got!
The key to the white working class suddenly losing all of its clout this election has been Romney's ability to use the Dem's media control techniques and pick off every candidate those voters liked with character assassinations just like a sniper does.
The field will suddenly be left with Obama and Romney in easy agreement to smash the trapped Tea Party obstructionists between them, and then they can play the Pre-Reagan games again in DC.
Historian clearly Newt sees this trap, and he is imitating Nathan Bedford Forrest once caught in a trap...he is attacking in both directions.
I don't think Newt will gain any Jewish votes with this desperate ploy, by the way. On the contrary-- it's so offensive to exploit the Holocaust in such a crass, flimsy, dishonest way. (There's a good post on how and why this whole thing is bogus on the Commentary site, if anyone's interested.)
I'm so disgusted by this, I almost feel nauseous. And it has nothing to do with Romney (since I don't think this hurts him one bit). I am completely at a loss to understand how people whose judgment I otherwise respect can support Gingrich.
I am completely at a loss to understand how people whose judgment I otherwise respect can support Gingrich.
You're shocked that a party that would support Sarah Palin would also support Newt Gingrich?
Surely you jest.

Well... to be fair, there could be people who are holocaust survivors by virtue of escaping ghettos such as the Warsaw ghetto, or being part of resistence movements elsewhere in Poland, or in Lithuania, Belarus, etc.
But that said, I agree with you all: I think Newt was just honkin' out of his ass without thinking.
I liked two ideas in the campaign so far: get poor kids to work, and regime change in Venezuela. They're both Newt's ideas, but he's definitely throwing slimeballs and fastballs and beany boppers. I He's definitely without a conscience, and obviously a sociopath. But then, he's still Mother Theresa compared to BO.
Remember how Gingrich complimented all the losers after the SC race? What will Romney have to say about the loser Gingrich tonight?
mad man--I was under the impression that the "hitler" clips had been taken down because of copyright infringement-although my favorite is the Michigan State Clip
I always admire the American sense of humor in those clips--I can Amazon striking a deal to sell a package of them (assuming copyright issues are handled)
You're shocked that a party that would support Sarah Palin would also support Newt Gingrich?
Well, I don't ascribe "judgment" to any "party"-- which is made up of myriad individuals and diverse groups, with conflicting/ overlapping interests, priorities, perspectives, & passions, hardly a monolithic entity. So I'd no more ascribe "judgment" to the GOP than to the Democratic party. I don't like ascribing a single coherent agency to any large diverse group of people; that's one reason I have a problem with all this nonsense about "The Establishment".
I'm not talking about Palin or her fans, but certain political commentators, e.g. in the blogosphere, I've normally found to be perspicacious. (I can't think of any politicians who've worked with Newt and now endorse him-- not anyone I'm famiiar with, anyway.) I guess the endorsement that puzzles me most is Thomas Sowell, who is someone I really admire.
Andy R wrote:

I fell the same way about the Biden VP pick. First important decision Obama made as Democrat presidential contender.
Same doesn't hold true for McCain. He'd run for Prez before, and Palin hadn't been demonized by the media when he chose her for VP.
I do believe the proposal merely caused kosher meals to be prepared in a kosher kitchen and brought in. Gingrich is a bit sketchy with the truth - that is, if he has anything to do with this message,
Meanwhile, we have the dude who disclosed Jack Ryan's sealed divorce records in the White House striking a pose.
Too funny for me.
The key to the white working class suddenly losing all of its clout this election has been Romney's ability to use the Dem's media control techniques and pick off every candidate those voters liked with character assassinations just like a sniper does.
We have two candidates named Mitt Romney in this election apparently. The actual candidate, and the caricature upon whom the self-styled non-RINOs can assign any characteristic or action and assume it won't be challenged on factual grounds. Because in this election, the right is all about feeeeelings.
But just to take stab at it: You're saying Romney "picked off" Perry, Bachmann, Pawlenty and Cain? On what basis do you make this claim? As is the case with Gingrich, each of them is the author of their own fates owing their own campaign mistakes. And, if you know anything about them, their own limitations. I was surprised as anyone at Perry's self-destruction, but Bachmann's and Cain's were entirely predictable, as neither has credentials to be president, and both had personality features that doomed them to eventually wash out. Pawlenty probably could have ridden quite a bit farther in the race -- why he dropped out is a mystery to me, except maybe he didn't have the proverbial "fire in the belly." It was weak and disappointing.
Yes, Romney benefited from the winnowing of the field, but he didn't pull any of the triggers. Nor did he force Gingrich's many many errors.
If Gingrich were a normal candidate instead of a narcissistic clown, he'd drop out tonight and then you might see the other strong candidate in the race, Santorum, give Romney a real run in some states. Why you "true conservatives" haven't called for Gingrich to do just that -- weeks ago when it could have made a difference -- is something you'll have to answer for to your conservative consciences.
When I went to Holland with my wife to meet her Dutch relatives, I was forced to eat herring. I believe this was Bush's fault, but I'll blame Romney too.

Mormons are scary and believe religious things!
And by "religious things" you mean batshit crazy cult rituals invented by a con man, right?
@David: Lekkere haring! Heb je patatje speciaal met dat?
Historian clearly Newt sees this trap, and he is imitating Nathan Bedford Forrest once caught in a trap...he is attacking in both directions.
So first you equate "Tea Party" with "white", then you follow it up by comparing Gingrich to the founder of the Klan.
Is this some sort of hamfisted attempt to moby on behalf of Mitt Romney or what?
The moment in time has arrived over at the MSNBC branch of the Obama Campaign. They are suddenly clear minded and direct.
Chris Mathews was right on target explaining the deep hole that Romney has dug for himself in Florida.
Romney will never get the tea party types support now. He burned all his bridges in glee to get rid of them forever.
And Romney is the last candidate that could survive the coming tsunami of unfair income distribution memes caused by non-caring, arrogant, white rich men of the GOP. That vision is what Axelrod and Obama have been perfecting for two years in their skunk works.
We had better start making friends with Jeb Bush for 2016.
And by "religious things" you mean batshit crazy cult rituals invented by a con man, right?
Potato/potahto. :)
Revenant...Get real. Forrest was a military genius. Save the slander for someone who cares.
Romney will never get the tea party types support now. He burned all his bridges in glee to get rid of them forever.
Boy is this over-heated. Exit polls show he got about a third of the votes of Tea Party types.
Most of the rest of them will focus on four more years of Obama and go with Romney based on his conservatism. Yes, I said that. The sewing circle bans that kind of talk, but I'm sort of outside the tent. He is clearly a conservative, compared with Obama, compared with any Democrat, and indeed compared with Gingrich. Santorum is more conservative, but nothing Romney said could possibly have caused the Tea Party folks to vote against Santorum.
You equate Gingrich = Tea Party. Romney was merciless on Gingrich, mostly for his very un-Tea Party like ideas like the colony on the moon.
Rejecting a colony on the moon is not a RINO position.
Revenant...Get real. Forrest was a military genius. Save the slander for someone who cares.
I'm just saying "if you want to appeal to white people and beat a black President, you need someone who's like the founder of the Klan" is perhaps not the kind of endorsement ol' Newt is looking for. :)
I have no idea how this 20c12 election is going to go--taking a somewhat longer view, say Obama wins, but the R's capture the senate and hold the house--and even if they dont, Obama is a lame duck. And for 2016, the R's have one hell of a deep bench--Christie, Rubio, Haley, Jindahl,Ryan and Walker to name a few--Who is the next democrat up as "presidential timber?" Joe Biden?
My bad.... Romney got 40 percent of Tea Party voters.
Not quite the burned bridge...
"Chris Mathews was right on target explaining the deep hole that Romney has dug for himself in Florida."
Mathews has not been right about anything in years.
AJ: but his leg does tingley
Newt should have known it wouldn't be good enough to point out how something Mitt done once was antisemitic. We know enough about Mitt by now to know that for every antisemitic thing he's said and done, he's probably said or did something that is pro-Jewish sometime later down the line. Or maybe sometime before. You don't even have to look for it anymore, you know its there.
RE: The Downfall spoofs.
Public outcry led to the spoofs being re-instated. I doubt all of them are back online, though.
New ones are created daily.
Talk about a dumb business move ... people are engaging and spreading your product proactively and you choose to shut them down.
Downfall is a good movie. Bruno Ganz is amazing. No need to 'protect the copyright' in such situations. It only reinforced negative PR.
Romney sucks, but isn't (apparently) emotionally unstable. Newt sucks slightly less (as far as his governing philosophy can be ascertained), but seems like he never got past the emotional age of twelve.
Obama sucks hard (in his governing philosophy, at least when the wind isn't blowing at hurricane force against it), has never gotten past the emotional age of twelve, and has all the behavioral traits of a classic sociopath.
God help us.

Don't worry, yashu, C-fudd will still blame it all on da Jooooos, especially "Adleson" who nobody but Fudd gives a flying fuck about. It will keep him going as he jacks himself off to sleep tonight fantasizing about Andi Sullivan.
And by "religious things" you mean batshit crazy cult rituals invented by a con man, right?
You shouldn't talk about Muhammad that way.
Romney got 40 percent of Tea Party voters.
And nearly every Democrat since their primary is uncontested. Nothing can go wrong with this, right?
Hmmm...Mitt coming in at 49% in FL, with Newt at 33%. Looks like Mitt got some of those Tea Party votes after all.
And nearly every Democrat...
Where did you get your information on this? It's amazing how the Lamestream RINO media overlooks these things and fails to take into account how...
I'm sorry, what? Oh! Oh, right.
Florida has a closed primary. There were NO Democratic votes.
But being on the right this year, it's all about feeeeelings. If it feeeeels like Democrats voted in the Florida primary, might as well just go ahead and say it, right?
I laughed out loud at this when they played it on the news. It's the best worst bit of political jujitsu out there so far this campaign season.
BTW, I will once again write in Paris Hilton for the Presidency... Though i am tempted to switch parties and pencil in Vermin Supreme! I'll get a free pony too!
