So they liked sex how they liked it. Who cares?

Fixer, fluffer, soldier, sailor. He considered other's feelings and perhaps his own vulnerability.

Doesn't his story cry out for a full blown legalization of prostitution?

Rhetorical? :D

Carol_Herman म्हणाले...

What if they lined up all the women who had one night stands with Brando? Would it be like "how many jelly beans are in this jar?"

Alex म्हणाले...

Shocking to learn that Hepburn was quite the sappho.

Darleen म्हणाले...

I kept everything in my head. There was no little black book.

How convenient.

Carol_Herman म्हणाले...

You know what's sad? No one (except old folk), will place any of these characters. Famous in their time.

It reminds me that I once said to my son that people used carbon paper to make copies. And, he asked "what's carbon paper?"

Well, who remembers "do not spindle, mutilate or fold?" Like stars, technology, too, has dropped by the wayside.

And, when I do see an old clip of a TV show, or a film? I laugh when I see a telephone hanging on the wall. What do kids of today know of having to wait for AT&T to come and turn your telephone "on?"

Same thing. Today's kids aren't going to be impressed because their media entertainment isn't prudish.

While Bill Holden and Audrey Hepburn got into trouble ... because there's a movie scene where he jumps into a cab she is in. And, during the ride he asks "Are you a virgin?"

What do you expect to happen when the truth comes out ... that the films were full of bullshit?

And, it wasn't the stars who were making the most money. But it was the stars who saw the potential of losing income ... if they didn't manage their exterior image.

Very few men were lucky like Ronald Reagan; where their wives loved them so much ... and kept them happy.

Maybe, ya just gotta be lucky to find such happiness?

Alex म्हणाले...

Imagine being put on this earth to run a prostitution ring for classic Hollywood A-listers. That is an unbelievable destiny and something to be proud of. True greatness!

edutcher म्हणाले...

So this guy claims to be the Barney Frank of Hollyweird? There's a recommendation.

He's trying to sell a book, so he puts a lot of names in it.

Since most are dead, there isn't going to be a lot of rebuttal.

Imagine an even greater destiny: being that guy's wife!

I wonder if he and Cynthia and their spouses ever get together and chat.

I assume you're being arch.

Alex म्हणाले...

No way - I had no idea that Hepburn had sex at all. I always assumed she was a non-sexual person.

Robert Cook म्हणाले...

"Very few men were lucky like Ronald Reagan; where their wives loved them so much ... and kept them happy."

You know why she kept him happy? Nancy Davis, according to Peter Lawford, gave the best head in Hollywood.

Alex म्हणाले...

Robert Cook - that is just fabulous! I always knew Nancy was a big slut.

ricpic म्हणाले...

You can't say nobody liked Spencer Tracy and he was bisexual! Take that Cynthia.

Considering she's back in full blather mode did Carol Herman just get another one of her periodic blood transfusions?

Amartel म्हणाले...

The part where he says he doesn't need the money - I'm dubious. The one statement that could be verified and ... crickets. Hmm.

Also, the Lawford gossip about Nancy Reagan? You say that like you think it's a bad thing! Prude rube.

chickelit म्हणाले...

Alex is right here. Now I wonder if Hepburn had hipburn.

Robert Cook म्हणाले...

"Also, the Lawford gossip about Nancy Reagan? You say that like you think it's a bad thing! Prude rube."

Sez who?

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

At the same time, a lot of what Mr. Bowers has to say is pretty shocking. He claims, for instance, to have set Hepburn up with “over 150 different women.” Other stories in the 286-page memoir involve Spencer Tracy, Cole Porter, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and socialites like the publisher Alfred A. Knopf.

Please.

Any scrap of evidence to indicate that this man should be believed?

Amusing how excited the NYT is to believe it and how they seem to have not bothered to do any fact-checking at all on the man's stories.

Amartel म्हणाले...

Sez me.

Ralph L म्हणाले...

Nancy Davis, according to Peter Lawford, gave the best head in Hollywood.
Or did he say "has the biggest head", which was probably true?

I'm shocked about Mr. Miniver. I guess Raymond Burr didn't need his services, speaking of head.

$20 was a fair amount of money in the 40's, especially for a gas jockey. The article doesn't say what he did for it.

Perhaps the subtext is a message to reluctant donors: "somebody had the dirt on them, and somebody has dirt on you--so pay up"

Pure speculation of course.

He's decided to talk now.

Now that they are all gone and can't respond.

Lovely fellow.

chickelit म्हणाले...

Dead men toll no tail. His customers all died.

William म्हणाले...

The movie that Carol Herman is referring to is The Moon is Blue. The movie starred Maggie McNamara, not Audrey Hepburn. The male stars were William Holden and David Niven. Maggie certainly had an Audrey Hepburn look, but her career never took off. According to Wiki, she committed suicide when she was fifty. She was probably depressed about being so often confused with Audrey Hepburn.

William म्हणाले...

I'd have never picked Spencer Tracy for a bisexual. I read a review of some biography of Hepburn that claimed he was an alcoholic and would occasionally slap her around. That I could believe, and, when you thing about it, is far more violative of their public image than any sexual quirks.....Why would anyone bother lying about Walter Pidgeon? I bet a fair amount of thia book is true, but an 88 year old prostitute is not the most reliable witness.

Joe म्हणाले...

The advantage of accusing people now dead of anything is there can be no first hand rebuttal.

Another thing about Hollywood; there are an awful lot of liars in that town/industry trying to make a buck.

I'll bet most the book is pure bunk.

That voice "oh-oh-oh-ing?"

A bit disturbing.

WV: undumist — I'll let someone else take this.

Somebody cares. And they care enough to pay for the gritty details.

We all care enough to note it and comment about it. We won't know when no one cares, because no one will mention it. I hope that day comes soon.

Darrell म्हणाले...

Could you imagine having sex with Hepburn?

I can (think about it) and I have. Repeatedly. But not so much as of late.

Scotty Bowers filched over a thousand cubic metres in his lifetime. The person that told me
kept that figure in his head so it's got to be true. You can take that to the bank--especially if we get Obama II.

The illegitimate children? The people who "believed" they were religious?

I could go on,...

I saw this book in the store, and since I'm a Hollywood junkie, flipped through it. Disgusting. Just disgusting. It's akin to the horrendous new "Hollywood Babylon Returns" books which claim that every Hollywood hunk was gay and every woman was lesbian or frigid, wallowing in giggles about "meat" and "plugging to the bottom."

This is a pimp's reminiscences. Vile.

But, speaking of Audrey Hepburn, she was known to have quite the high sex drive; in fact, some shooting on "Roman Holiday" was delayed because the director couldn't get Hepburn and Gregory Peck out of bed.
