Milestones in modern stupidity.

Too bad there's no video like the texter into the water fountain.

Between the people with the headphones growing out of their heads and the ones on the phone, parking lots are looking like free fire zones

Headphones ... or New Jersey?

You decide.

There was the time I was a microsecond from stepping in front of traffic on University Ave. because I was staring at a girl. That was 30 years ago and I still think about how close it was. Shit happens.

The same thing happened to the entire nation when Obama got elected.

A deaf friend of my wife was walking alongside a train track near her home while texting. The train tried to warn her by blasting the horn but being deaf she didn't hear it.

Her father, also deaf happened along in his car and was o e of the first to find her after the gain stopped. She had just won a beauty pageant a year earlier. So sad.

I was in noisy restaurant last night and ask a young woman at the table next to me if we could take one of the chairs at her table. She was alone and texting. She never acknowledged me, even though I was well within her personal space and asked her pretty loudly 3 times. I then just took the chair, still she never even looked up. She was not deaf, but she was not there either. Texting is amazing like that. Young people can't resist do it and it blocks out everything else.

The guy driving the train was probably texting too.

How can you not feel a train? In my experience, they cause the ground to vibrate.

Probably leaves you with just enough time to say "Oh sh.."

Tram In Jersey City

Lem Vibe Bandit म्हणाले...

Had this guy used these.. he would have heard the TRAM.

I have them.. and I love them.

In the Amazon reviews..

These are, without a doubt, my go-to headphones 90% of the time. The only thing I won't use these for are when I'm trying to block outside noise and only noise-canceling, over-the-ear headphones will work for that.

Maybe this guy was using the big ugly over-the-ear cans.

They are hideous.. and dangerous.

Wise Up.. LIVE

It's not
What you thought
When you first began it
You got
What you want
Now you can hardly stand it though,
By now you know
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop

Just A Job To Do

It's no use saying that it's all right, it's all right.
But where were you after midnight, midnight.
Heard a bang, bang, bang; Down they go
It's just a job you do
'Cause the harder they run, and the harder they fall.
I'm coming down hard on you.

Now no one saw what you looked like, what you looked like
Like a stranger you came out of the night, out of the night
Cause someone put the word on you, and I hope my aim is true.

Cause I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you
I got a name, and I got a number, I'm coming after you

Don't keep saying that it's all right, it's all right,
It seems you went just a little too far this time
Heard a bang bang bang, and down you go,
It's just a job I do,
Cos the harder you run the harder you fall
...

That's the American millennial generation for you The first generation to be completely "zoned out" of reality.

Proof that humans are terrible multitaskers.

Which is why I never believed that George Costanza could pull off the sex and food act. Especially if its a NYC pastrami sandwich.

Sorun, same thing here, except it was a guy. I'm grateful for my roommate, who grabbed my collar and pulled me back (and it was about 30 years ago, too).

Happens more than you think. Light rail is dangerous to your health.

This sort of cluelessness is pervasive. I'll often see some earbud-wearing idiot walk into or sideswipe a pedestrian, or walk out into traffic. My friends joke that iPods take away 50 IQ points.

Kevin Kelly, author of What Technology Wants, talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about technology and the ideas in the book. Kelly argues that technology is best understood as an emergent system subject to the natural forces underpinning all emergent systems. He argues that any technology creates benefits and costs but that the benefits typically outweigh the costs (perhaps by a small amount) leading to human progress.
