"In the comments..."
I like to "front page" comments that especially interest me, and I do this on the original post. Sometimes when they really interest me, I feel like writing a new post to let people know that I did an "IN THE COMMENTS" update. This time, that's just what I'm doing.

kind of pretentious to write what you wrote and then link to yourself, wouldn't you say?
I wouldn't say that. Especially if one realizes that the conversation on topics, the back and forth, and commentary on the comments, is part of the overall value of hereabouts.
Very helpful in fact, as blogs keep adding more and more posts so good comments in older posts can easily be overlooked.
Not only not pretentious, it's honoring to the particular commenters being highlighted.

Please use the comments forum to respond to the post. Don't fight with each other. Be substantive... or interesting... or funny. Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 2 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith.
