How Ben Nelson lost Nebraska.

"Get him the hell out of here!"

I don't know, maybe they were booing the heckler. I hate it when anybody acts like a jackass in public.

Pragmatist म्हणाले...

Better a Republican who votes like a republican than a Democrat that votes like a Republican.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

How sad. An incumbent bows out.

Known Unknown म्हणाले...

It's good for Nelson to go, but I too, don't condone boorish public behavior.

if you have a problem with Nelson's votes, you should contact his office.

Chase म्हणाले...

Demographics baby!

In November:
The Senate goes Republican
The House stays Republican
The Presidency . . . . .

C'mon Supremes! Do the right thing in June!

prairie wind म्हणाले...

Now let's see if the Republicans can get someone in office who will do the right thing, someone with some courage and backbone.

Rose म्हणाले...

Chase, if we are so lucky - let's hope that the Republicans live up to our expectations, act honorably, like statesmen, and don't go tilt, make the same mistakes they made last time.

Repeal draconian regulation, eliminate those three (what were they?) departments... encourage businesses to expand and prosper, get the government out of the nanny-state business...

And this time, make the damn tax cuts PERMANENT. No weaseling around trying to appease the unappeasable left.

The people have free speech and he effed them up the tailpipe...what do you expect them to be, happy?

ricpic म्हणाले...

And after the Republicans win the Senate, McConnell and Boehner will go in front of the microphones and say "Yeah, but we still only have all of 1/3rd of the government, but folks, wait till 2016, then we'll knock 'em dead."

अनामित म्हणाले...

Hat tip, Mr. Nelson! This decision presents a golden opportunity for a respectful and responsible candidate to emerge..Tom Osborne.

caplight45 म्हणाले...

Ben Nelson forgot to represent the people who elected him and instead served the interests of Harry Reid and the Democrat party in Washington, DC. He deserved to be booed and it was probably the only way the message could get through the bubble he lives in. They did him a favor.

Really, EMD? Nelson's actions regarding ObamaCare were despicable. So after demonstrating behavior that shows only contempt for his office and the voters, WE should be careful not to act boorish towards him?

I think not.

There is wisdom in the observation that "When you have scruples, and your enemy does not, your scruples become a weapon in his hands."

It's high time we called out these SOBs for the SOBs they are. Early and often.

edutcher म्हणाले...

I want to hear our resident Demos and Lefties tell us again how the public really wants ZeroCare.

Paul म्हणाले...

A few of them Democrats here in Texas needs the same thing done.

And tell me, now many of them politicians are RICH, and got RICH in Congress?

Pelosi is worth over 100 MILLION. She and her husband ripped off the taxpayers pushing gov. business to his firm.

No doubt Nelson is the same way.

2012 can't come to soon! VOTE THEM OUT.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Class warfare without class is demoralizing.

Pure greed looks like everybody else looks...it's not "Progressive."

We demand good stories to tell.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

I heard the Blago wants to bid on the job opening in Nebraska.

If all they do is shout insults at you in restaurants, then Nebraska is a push over.

Rumpletweezer म्हणाले...

I don't usually make excuses for such behavior, but we've gone far past the point where our elected officials can expect common courtesy from us. They need to be shaken out of it. I'm glad it's happening.

DaveW म्हणाले...

Nelson's constituents opposed Obamacare vociferously. Nelson cut a sweetheart deal and betrayed his constituents.

Of course they shunned him. Whatever happened to public shaming as a tool against people that betray you, and what exactly is wrong with that?

SteveR म्हणाले...

I think its safe to say that if you incite that kind of behavior in Nebraska, absent (or in addition to) openly rooting for the Sooners, you've probably done a bad thing.

Joe Schmoe म्हणाले...

Whatever happened to public shaming as a tool against people that betray you, and what exactly is wrong with that?

I like this idea. He should wear a big scarlet D on his chest for at least the next several years. There needs to be more recourse for bad politician behavior besides being voted out of office.

Methadras म्हणाले...

If you are a democrat, fuck you. Nelson can eat the same shit.

Curious George म्हणाले...

Will garage claim that Nelson, adding himself to a long list of Democrats (Obey, Doyle, Bayh, etc) choosing not to run for reelection, did not do so because they couldn't win?

pfennig म्हणाले...

Booing a guy is "boorish public behavior?" Come to Wisconsin and see what Scott Walker and the Republican legislators have had to deal with!

rcommal म्हणाले...

So, now that Ben's leaving, I don't suppose the "in perpetuity" gets to leave with him?

Christopher in MA म्हणाले...

"If you have a problem with Nelson's votes, you should contact his office."

And get the runaround from his staff, or be sent to voice mail hell? Sorry, EMD, but caplight, John Auston and rumpletweezer have it right. Nelson carved out what he thought was a sweet Uncle Sugar deal for Obastardcare, getting the government (really meaning you and me) to pick up the tab. He thought his constituents would ignore what he did, ignore the fact that he didn't listen when they told him they didn't want this legislation and cheer that he stuck other people with the bill.

Remember the town halls? Remember the shock on so many Democrat swine faces (and not a few RINO scum, too) to actually be confronted in public? To be ordered to answer questions instead of bloviating? Rumpletweezer is right. These arrogant clowns have long since given up the right to any deference. They need to be reminded, as Nelson was, that they are our servants and NOT our masters.

Known Unknown म्हणाले...

He was in a restaurant, having a meal.

There are plenty of other venues at which I would find booing him acceptable.

Christopher in MA म्हणाले...

"He was in a restaurant, having a meal."

WMD, you're a good man. But, to Godwin the thread, if it's not totalerkrieg now, then when? If the only way to get these corrupt, overstuffed, tax-bloated parasites to listen is to make every public appearance miserable, then that's what I want. Do you think the left would leave Scott Walker alone in such a situation?

Yes, I know - "we're better than that." Unfortunately, we live in an ACORN/SEIU/Alinsky world where being better than that leads only to defeat.

अनामित म्हणाले...

But, to Godwin the thread, if it's not totalerkrieg now, then when?

"Never" works pretty well for me.

David म्हणाले...

And he got the hell out.

Listening to the voters.

Get the Hell out of here might be a good campaign slogan for most of the races this fall.

David म्हणाले...

Enough with the victory dances. It's a long way to November.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

"Whatever happened to public shaming as a tool against people that betray you, and what exactly is wrong with that?"

I am in favor of this too. Shun everyone who has been in Congress for 20 years or more and do it in public. Hell they bankrupted ths country. Let them pay for it.

And btw, this would mean we would shun about 50 of the current Senate members - they have been in Congress for more than 20 years.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

Franz- actually that is what we should give to our shunned Congress critters. The "Scarlet B" is for the gazillion barrels of red ink they created and "B" for the country they have bankrupted.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

I agree 100%!

Big Mike म्हणाले...

I agree with Sofa King; my first thought was that the crowd in the pizzeria were booing the heckler.

Nevertheless, at least Nelson only got heckled -- no beer poured on his head, no vuvuzelas blasting while he's trying to work. Imagine if it was Democrats going after him!

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Ben exposed the sausage works.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

despite the please of Harry Reid

Oh Lord, hear my plea. Please?

Typo aside, I wonder when the guys at Powerline and Insta himself are going to hold accountable those who pushed Medicare, Part D through Congress.

Would that the likes of Billy Tauzin, Tom Scully, Nick Smith, Tom Delay, and the rest of those bastards were ever shouted out of a restaurant.
