Yesterday while sitting in the woods, hundreds of blackbirds descended on a hill opposite me, most of them landing in the fallen leaves, making a vast rustling sound like men marching. Then, as one, they lifted as if on some unseen wave, but settled only about 50 feet away. They repeated this many times before sweeping out of sight and away.
Just watched the SNL clip of Alec Baldwin. That man is obnoxious and troubled (he must be) but he is funny. I guess that's why we keep coming back for more.
The full moon was yesterday — the day of the total eclipse. Notice all the incipient daylight around the so-called full moon from today. That's a one day post-full moon moon.
The full moon was the bane of The Blonde's existence when she was floor nursing. Anybody who doesn't think the word "lunatic"'s connection with the moon is accidental should do customer service some time.
PS She still asks me every month when the moon's going to be full.
I got to see the lunar eclipse Saturday since I had to drive to work right before sunrise and could see it from the parking lot at work at 6:55. The moon was half a cookie right above the crest when I got in the car and it was still dark, and then it went below the crest, so no one else at home got to see the whole thing.

Driving on Beach Dr through Rock Creek in the moonlight last night was divine. We stopped at couple of places and just sat there for a few minutes.
The news for me there is: when did Milwaukee become part of the National League???? More baseball travesties. The game is unrecognizable.
PM, I live in DC too. The moon was incredible.

First time, 1953. Second time 1998. Maybe the game is unrecognizable because you don't follow or watch it.
Inter-league play, steroids, games with 13 runs (or more!), fields with too many video screens and no organ.
I went to one game this year at Nationals Park.
Miller Park's got an organ and, now, a big black eye from the Braun allegations. This sucks.
Moon on Golden Gate bridge yesterday .
More awesome eclipse pictures here

25 degrees? That's gonna feel positively tropical come January...or next week.

In parts of Australia the koala bears feast upon a tree that splays its leaves at night called the Lunar Eucalyptus. <-- 6% of fact.
