If it's for something decent, certainly. If it's for something indecent, I'd like dinner first.

rhhardin ayon kay ...

Rats, it's Mark Davis (aka Mr Rogers) hosting Rush, not Mark Steyn as I was expecting.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Is that what's left of the endangered species called working men?

T J Sawyer ayon kay ...

Remember when you used to stop at a phone booth and look up an address in the phone book?

Dose of Sanity ayon kay ...

YOU FOUND IT! The invisible hand of the market does exist! Who knew it was a working man too.

Looks like a remnant of Purdue Pete the Boilermaker.

TJ, I was thinking the same thing. Actually saw something interesting the other day. A couple of phone booths (or whatever they call the modern version of the phone booth). The phones were long gone, but the phone books were still there.

It used to be people would steal phone books, or rip out pages that they needed. Now they don't even need phone books anymore, so they sit unused at the phoneless phone booth.

"Looks like a remnant of Purdue Pete the Boilermaker."

It is!

Sounds like a job for the Village People. Who are down the block getting that absolutely essential inner thigh tattoo at AMUSED.

Looks like State St. West La Fayette. Did you take ride in the Boiler Maker Christmas Express?

Tyrone Slothrop ayon kay ...

Oh, that's just the famous Armhat logo. Armhat, purveyors of fine rental signs for over eleventy years.

I smell a Doug LaFollette thread tonight.

Or stick fingers into the change slot. Those dimes could by a 'lotta bubble gum.

Looking at this Google Street View,
this appears to have been Follet's Village Bookstore. Seems like I remember it being there years ago. The last time I passed that way was around 2002, fifteen years after I graduated. Of course, West Lafayette had changed in that interval, and I guess it's changed further still. Honestly, I don't miss it much, though.

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

That's the old Follett's bookstore, alright. Keep walking west on State up to the light, take a left across the street and grab a cold one and a bowl of chili at Harry's.

Old RPM Daddy ayon kay ...

Harry's is still there? Well, at least something's right with the world!

Haw about the Stabilizer?

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

Don't know about the Stabe, but I'm old enough to remember when it was the Pierce St. Station.

rhhardin ayon kay ...

The backyard bird microphone, switched to the speakers because it's more interesting than Mark Davis hosting Rush, is picking up rain noises now instead of indistinct outdoor activity sounds.

Here's how I prepared Cassoulet last week...

Google happily disabled my account.

Probably for this

Apparently, they don't do satire at Google/Blogger.

It should be noted we received no complaints about "Unorthodox Jew lowers interest rates" — which was a critique of common anti-Semitic stereotypes.

I mean, who doesn't read about monies funneled through Chik-Fil-As and Aaron's Rental Stores and think this is serious?

Mr Evilwrench ayon kay ...

Oh man, I spent some time and money in that place. Shame to see it's gone.

I once had an accident after eating Cassoulet. The important thing is not to stray too far from the civilized comforts, as in comfort stations, after partaking of the acme of bean cuisine.
