Roger Ebert is fooled by what is a very funny parody of Werner Herzog (which you should get if you've seen the movie "Grizzly Man"):
Looking (unsuccessfully) for the relevant clip from "Grizzly Man" — "I believe the common character of the universe is not harmony, but hostility, chaos and murder" — I found this video made by a guy who finds that when he reads Anton Chekov short stories, he hears the words in his head in Werner Herzog's voice:
(The words are from the Chekov story "Gusev.")

Sounds like the explanation for many of Edgar Allan Poe's work, "He wrote what he saw".
Dude, put down the bottle and call AA.
(no, not her, the other one...)
Is the universe harmonious;
Or is it hostile?
Depends: are you feeling vainglorious;
Or like a pustule?
Slightly OT: I love "The Bet", by Chekov. It's great on so many levels.
Ebert. He was somebody when Siskel was alive.
While I was curious about the movie "Grizzly Man" when I first heard about it, after I saw this parody video, I figured I had enough of an idea what the film was like.
I love Ebert. He's completely off base on some things, but he generally writes very good movie reviews.
Is "Grizzly Man" a movie about s guy trying to restore grizzly bears to the wilds of America, only to be eaten by them in the end?
Sounds like just deserts to me. But at least he got "into" his work .
These are the same guys that say polar bears are falling off the planet, but lost 2 million caribou? And the caribou were where the people who EAT caribou said thet were all along? Did these "scientist" ask the people that polar bears eat where the bears werem because I can assure you that they know this too.
I have had experience with naturalist and nature first hand. I have personally witnessed wild animals do things the scientist say they do not do. So who do I believe? A scientist who tells me ducks and geese do not eat fish, or the ducks and geese I have seen hunting and eating fish?
Natural scientist are too much of a mind set that thinks "Bambi" is a documentary. I have neither the time nor patience to fool with fools.

Siskel made Ebert. Siskel was funny, engaging, and much brighter than Ebert. Ironically, Siskel was a Yalie and Ebert an Illini, but Siskel was more down to earth and less elitist.
"I believe the common character of the universe is not harmony, but hostility, chaos and murder"
It's not either/or.
How can you love Ebert movie reviews? He said No Country For Old Men was the best movie he ever saw.
He said No Country For Old Men was the best movie he ever saw because its pompous self-importance matched his.

One of the funniest parodies of a movie on you tube ever. Even funnier if you watch the movie and then right after watch the parody.
By the way, not sure if many people know this but those are the same guys that went on to do the Red State Update videos.
They also do a great bit about Brokeback Mountain.
jr565--Under the category of "funniest parodies of a movie on youtube ever," I would definitely have to include this parody of Star Wars Episode III.
For music to watch ships by, you really can't beat Song of the High Seas, by Richard Rodgers, from Victory At Sea.
Nice Video share in the post.
