"What I'm amazed by is how these alders apparently pack away the booze."
So begins a forum, over at Isthmus, about "the Solomon situation." At the factual level, this story is very intra-Madison. (A city clerk staffer accused Madison Alderman Brian Solomon of sexual assault, the D.A. declined to charge him, and there's a detail-filled police report.) I'm wary of sending you over there (to another Isthmus forum) unless you're very intra-Madison, but I'm fascinated by a few things: how Democrats close ranks around one of their own, how much these people drink together, and the hypocrisy about feminist matters. There's some good participation by Meade, pointing out how differently Democrats treated conservative Justice David Prosser last summer, when he was accused of "choking" his female colleague.

That is because hypocrisy is a virtue for the left and everything and I mean every, little, thing, is political to these people.
In a sane world the left would have the same credibility as the Area 51 conspiracy theorists.
When you watched the Bill Clinton playbook work, you just keep running the same plays.
I'll guess some of the alders are pissed at Solomon because their embarrassing drinking behavior has come to light.
Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.
One night conquests do have such a compressed time frame, and after midnight, ones actions must focus on coming to the ending.
Seriously, IMO the things politicians get away with makes many of them turn to alcohol in hopes of forgetting the pain they feel from fear of exposure.
and after midnight, ones actions must focus on coming to the ending.
Pun?
...cuz I'm usually focusing on baseball to forestall said ending.
Madisonman, Come on..there is no such thing as embarrassing drinking behavior in Wisconsin. This is an alcoholic culture and too many Cheeseheads take a perverse pride in it. Just like when I lived in Chicago and they took a perverse pride in their corrupt politics.
ScottM, Try focusing on Allie. Never mind, you won't prolong your event, you'll deflate quickly.
Admitting you have to sober up before driving home? This is not exemplary behavior. I'd be embarrassed to have that quote attached to me.
And now there are people on the Council (rightly) taking them all to task by writing rules to govern behavior. A daily reminder, when it's discussed, that they have behavior that needs to change and that Ald. Solomon's actions brought it all to light.
It's not "hypocrisy." It's called "nuance"
It must be very nice for the people of Solomon's district to see in writing that he can bring a drunk woman to orgasm twice with his fingers.
That's the kind of talent I look for in an alder.

Spinelli, keep your grubby focuses off of me, ewww. Any more and I'm screaming, rape.
Allie, A friend of mine had a great quote, "Anyone who would fuck her is just too lazy to jerk off." Just sayn'[homage to Trooper York].
Well, Spinelli, you would never get the chance, now Trooper's another story, but alas he is married.
Allie, maybe Ald. Solomon is free. Just hang out at a bar after a Council meeting.
Despite the advice not to go there, I went to see what Meade had to say.
Some guy "Scratch" accuses him of coming back to this non-point with various Forons
What are "Forons", anyway? All I can tell, is it rhymes with "Morons". Is "Scratch" saying that the commenters that Meade interacts with at that site are "morons"?
Ann, the difference is that the Demos all have good intentions.
And that's all that counts.
Is 'Forons' a badly fatfingered misspelling of Forums?
I don't know.
"Forons" is their version of "Ann's Fans"...it is what they call the commentators/members on the forum.
It is good to see that they are now allowing different points of views to be expressed. They had some issues a while back ago where anyone who didn't subscribe to the GroupThink was quickly banned by the sportswriter who was running the board...
hypocrisy about feminist matters

Modern liberalism, especially the further left you go, is intrinsically anti-woman. Having essentially a materialistic and utilitarian mindset, theirs is a sexuality of use and self-pleasure, not a sexuality of authentic love and respect.

So they are completely inattentive to commercial interests.
The sportswriter still runs the board.
Brian Solomon is not a Democrat. Dane Dems denied him an endorsement this spring in light of the sexual assault investigation. He is a member of the Progressive Dane caucus on the Council.
Jack Craver
PD is a blight on Dane Co politics.
I see a new TV series based on your very active city: Lefty Place!
Peyton Place meets Melrose. Written and Directed by Michael Moore.
"I am driven by progressive values, respect for others, integrity, and creating a more just and humane society."
I pledge to:
•Act with integrity
•Educate myself, learn, and listen
•Be respectful
•Treat others with dignity
•Represent my constituents by doing what is right and not necessarily popular
•Be responsive
•Focus on improving our community, valuing our diversity, and creating a more humane society
A liberal leftist will allow grown people do anything to anyone as long as they are allowed to kill unborn babies. Period, dot, end of sentence.
That is the one thing a leftist will not budge on, killing unborn babies. And for the sufficiently advanced leftist like the angry sock monkey, killing born babies is all right also.
From "Uncle Teddy" to bill clinton, you can rape, murder, steal, lie, commit adultery, take the Lords name in vain, and worskip false idols, as long as you let leftists kill unborn babies.
I challenge any leftist to prove that statement untrue!
As far as getting inebriated, I can appreciate the desire for it. I'm a alcoholic, my grandmother was too, and my uncles are. For alcoholics, it IS a disease. We have a different brain chemistry than others. Anyone else who is past the age of 30 still drinking to the edge of being incapacitated needs to grow up.
I walk a fine line with alcohol. I will drink a beer now and then but I have to make myself stop. I won't let a THING control my enjoyment. and I do enjoy a beer occasionally. On a very hot day, or with a good steak. But I have to force myself out of the beer cafe every now and then, knowing I am vulnerable, and catching myself. I haven't always.
If this Alderman is an alcoholic, he has my sympathies but he needs to quit. If he just likes to drink to excess, he needs to grow up.
I heard about a coroner who claims alcohol, not just wine, is good for the veins. Keeps em free and clear.
He saw it over and over throughout the years. Shot liver and Hella-good veins.
The guy who told me this, the coroner's friend, was serving wine at the time.
