It was a false alarm.* Oh! The injustice! They gave it to Tomas Tranströmer, some Swedish guy. Never heard of him. Cool name though, for sure.

Never heard of him.
Wasn't he the animated choo-choo train on PBS?
More Swedish imperialism.
You'll find his books on the shelves in Ikea, not for sale, and not in English.
Michael Bey's film adaptation of his work was cheap sensationalism. You really have to read his poems in Swedish to understand the beauty and complexity of his oeuvre.
Other notables who have NOT won the Nobel Prize for literature.

Dylan started out as a 50 to 1 long shot and quickly moved up to a 5 to 1 favorite. My guess is that someone manipulated the betting odds by leaking false information.
Eight Swedes have now won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Seems to be a bias here.
This smells fishy to me.
When a guy named Tranströmer is involved, there's likely to be more than meets the eye.
It's a disgrace! We are going to Occupy Stockholm until our demands are met!
My thoughts exactly when I heard the name - he sounds like a sci fi superhero. Evidently he's been kind of a big deal in the poetry world for a long time...
Dylan? I have a cool Christmas album from some guy named Dylan.
Hope springs eternal in the Althouse breast.
But that's Meade's province.
Woah, they gave it to a transformer!?!
Cool!
They should have given it to Dylan, though.
Dylan is to Literature
As
Obama is to Peace.
Gore is to Peace.
They've done worse, in other words.
It's a travesty that they chose this guy over Optimus Prime. I'm fucking outraged.
New Dylan song:
The odds were in my favor
I really should have won
But I didn't get the Nobel Prize
They gave it to some Swedish poet
From the 20th century
His poems don't even rhyme
Oh, the heartbreak...
They could have given it to Bell, the critical race storyteller. Liberals would have been happy, and the rest of the world would have been free to ignore Bell, as they ignore most of the Nobel Prize in Literature winners.
Alas, Bell is dead. No longer is that an option!
"Tranströmer Man. Tranströmer Man.
"Sooner or later, you'll have to see
"The cause and effect.
"So many things still left to do,
"And we haven't made it yet..."
