... were both made by Barry Feinstein... who died today at the age of 80.
You can see the iconic Bob-as-Woody-Guthrie pic and the George-with-gnomes pic along with lots of other cool photos at the official Barry Feinstein website. And here's a book of Feinstein's pictures of Dylan. I hear it's got a lovely picture of Bob kissing Mary Travers.

Nice pics. Haven't seen the cover to the 3 disc Harrison epic in awhile. Phil Spector's production values ruined All Things Must Pass. Thankfully Bob had enough sense to never let Phil near the mastering levers on any of his albums. Funny that because George and Bob were close during the late 60's with George including one of Bob's songs (If Not for You) on ATMP.
Kissing Mary Travers!
Around Woodstock, Peter, Paul and Mary are known as Two Beards and a Dyke!
Mary Travers still lives in the area.
Not really. Mary Travers died not long ago. RIP.
Yes, you're right.
Shows you how out of touch I am with Woodstock.
I'm busy conspiring with the evil bankers on Wall Street.
I'm having increasing difficulty remembering who's dead and who's alive among the old guard of the music biz.
What does this mean?
As usual when commenting on this site I'm typing and thinking on the fly. I meant to include "mixing" in conjunction with mastering.
I guess the only one of the old guard that I took hard when they passed was John Lennon. Probably only Dylan's passing would mean as much. And things have changed.
Lots of good pix- I'm partial to the '66 Dylan.
Janis Joplin is still my favorite emblem for the wave of freedom in the 60s.
Janis did not care about issues. Janis cared about getting laid.
Just watched "The Big Chill." Now I got nostalgia about nostalgia. Great soundtrack. No Dylan songs but one by The Band. Sounds trigger memory same as odors.
Dylan made an offhand remark once about Smokey Robinson being a great poet and it became part of the common wisdom. Singlehandedly gave Motown snob appeal. Now that's power. And Motown deserved it. In spades.
Man, he did some great work. They are fine photographs as such, and then he had a way of knowing the stimulus value of his subjects and playing with that. Really fine work.

Stravinsky at Oberlin, 1963, by me.
All things must pass.
I like the way Brando dressed for his protest march in '63. Of course, it doesn't look like he was facing down a pack of police dogs or anything. Still, he exudes almost as much cool as Miles Davis, which is not easy.
