The market's going to hell, Europe is losing its currency, people seem jittery about the whole economy tanking worse than it was back in '08. Apparently, no one gives a rat's ass that we raised the debt ceiling. Turns out, there's no one left to loan 2 trillion more dollars. Now, it's up to printing more money.
This will not go well. I have a bad feeling this is going to make the Depression look like a walk in the park.
Kind of a nice day to be such a downer. My apologies.
This, then, is perhaps the most astounding and stupefying thing I see today:
all the college age kids drinking the baby boomers' kool-aid in college classes, all the while being completely fleeced and plundered by the baby boomers.
They're so busy working the left-over 60s generation's hobby horses (feminism, tolerance, racism, sexual revolution, blah, blah, blah), that they apparently are completely unaware that they are being condemned by the boomers to a life of drudgery, poverty, and restrictions.
Dug out irises at first light today. Only 4 of about 100 fans bloomed this year. Some I'll take to a cousin's house and plant, some I'll take to the senior center, some will go back in place, and the remainder will be negotiated with the mower of lawns.
Lovely photograph, great composition and imagery. One of your best so far, Ann. The lighting alone is eye catching.
I know we have disagreed in the past on what makes a good photo, and who teaches the principles well, but that was more you not understanding what I meant by my references, which in turn was due to me not being clear and concise in my comment. In short, my bad.
This photo is a perfect example of what I was trying to say back then. I have a professional photographer close friend who I've watched spend 1 or more hours just to achieve the type image you did ... in his case, once, it was flowers among lily pads on water he wanted calm in a windy mountain setting.
I like this photo of the Iris over water enough that if I had a full sized file of it I'd print it and hang it in my home. I'd probably call it "Ladies of the Lake."
Gorgeous flowers. My daughter is getting married Sat. Hot and humid, I am so surprised! My sister has been calling me for days bitching about how hot it will be for the wedding. I can't wait to get drunk.

I think this should say, "you're in a place where you can lay it all down."

This isn't a massive class wealth transfer.
This is a massive generational wealth transfer.
And the young generation is apparently clueless that it is near complete.
What happens when all the horses either got in the wagon or got beat to death for being a horse?
Who then pulls the wagon?
This is a massive generational wealth transfer.
Yes: From orphans to people with grandparents.
Is that an orchid? An Iris? Or a water lily? Is what I see floating above mud?
Penicillin was developed to fight infections that killed more soldiers on battlefields, than anything else.
That. And, a vaccination against polio. Heck, today, you can even vaccinate old people against shingles.
Over time, though, it will all end up being washed out. Because what we don't see also learns to survive.
Exquisite! like a Monet.
Carol, it looks like an Iris and stem leaning over the water's edge.

These are irises that have fallen over onto the surface of a pond.
Down here in South Texas, our water irises quit blooming a couple of months ago.
Even though I don't know what zen is I know zen when I see zen and that picture's zen.
Very nice, Madame. Evocative of this time of year, when we are all heavy with the heat.
Hope you and Meade had a nice anniversary.

On this bus tour of Obama's; is he going to trail Ms. Sarah's bus, or will she trail him?
They're not drowning, are they?
I like blue/purple iris for land iris , but when it comes to water iris I have always preferred yellow.
Especially beautiful picture. Althouse is on a roll lately, one beautiful picture after another.
