The scene at the Capitol the night the Senate passed the budget reform bill.

This is a 6-minute edit of video I shot tonight at the Wisconsin capitol, as the senate held its final debate and vote.

0:00 — Meade and I head toward an entrance, there's a small group of protesters making a lot of noise.

0:19 —Inside, in the rotunda, there's a larger group, chanting — "Tax, tax, tax the rich/Walker you fucking son of a bitch" — and then undertaking a moment of silence. The protesters seem extremely weary or sleepy and some are overemotional. One man asserts that no one is here "because it's cool to fucking piss off police officers."

3:13 —  Everyone heads upstairs. Some go to the senate gallery, where we weren't allowed to take pictures, and others stood outside the senate chamber chanting "This is not the Wisconsin way" and blowing whistles, which you do see in the video. There are plenty of police, ready to control actions, but tolerating the noise.

4:22 — This is after the vote has taken place. A young man leans over the marble balustrade and delivers a monologue: "We all have a heart... remember, you were young once and you had a heart and you loved everybody."

5:03 — As people are filing down the stairs, someone yells "recall" and the group begins the old "recall" chant.

5:41 — I want one last look at the rotunda, and we hear a woman announce: "Oh you know how some bad children need to get attention for being bad? That's Scott Walker."

The idiots can't even come up with a chant that scans.

Asses as wide as billboards... Rivet-lipped skanks shackled to railings... They've got to get a better crowd.

अनामित म्हणाले...

"Tax, tax, tax the rich/Walker you fucking son of a bitch ..."

So, they're chanting in a way guaranteed to make certain no media can cover their rally?

That doesn't seem like a very smart way to get your message out.

Are these the best protestors union money can buy? Pretty weak.

"Are these the best protestors union money can buy? Pretty weak."

The problem with the union is that they pay their protesters minimum wage and so you end up with rivet-lipped skanks and people with mohawks as spokesmen for your cause.

Bad optics, as they say.

Why not just replace the skanks with a bunch of illegal aliens? Half the price and will work twice as hard. Plus, when they cuss crudely, the media can't detect it because they don't speak Spanish.

Or, you know, pay people a "living wage" and maybe some decent Americans will show up at your faux protest and discuss the situation with lawmakers without having to shout the word "fuck."

The union is losing the battle because they don't pay a decent wage.

Hey kid, fuck you. Since you "love" everyone, you pay for it.

"Tax, tax, tax the rich

Brilliant. Can we get that clip into stock footage in time for the next election?

Let me guess? The restraint you showed in withholding commentary?

Boy, those are the kind of people I want representing my cause.

And, yes, somebody should have taken that blue horn from the guy in the beginning and shoved it up his nose.

"remember, you were young once and you had a heart and you loved everybody."

Yeah, but unrelieved socialism put an end to that.

Kudos to both of you for staying with this. I have a feeling things turned out the way they did in no small part because of your efforts to expose the truth.

If there's a bloggy Pulitzer, you should get it.

PS I can't believe (actually, I can, I just don't want to) they're still using the same Commie chants from '67.

And these are supposed to be the smart people.

What a sad group of protesters.
If this is representative of WI's hard core resistance movement no problem. Laughable really.

I havent missed a day here in six months, your coverage has been fascinating and enlightening. This will continue to be the place to be as we go through the recalls and the endless lawsuits to come.
Thanks Ann and Meade for your perseverance through all this muck.

You're talking about liberals. Not being very bright is in their DNA. That's why they need a nanny state.

The have a heart guy said y'all - he isn't from around these parts like so many of the other "protesters". The black guy in the Packers shirt with the stirring narrative has been a fixture at the protests. I imagine he is a student with so much spare time on his hands. Looking forward to seeing train conductor guy show up again as well.

UW Madison is supposed to have one of the best undergraduate programs in the country. And yet these college dwellers display such nihilistic pig-ignorance of the real world over and over, as if they were proud of it.

Economics is a social science. Progressivism is a theology that continues long after its Marxist economic underpinnings have been debunked. Why does any institution like UW Madison treat progressivism with respect? It's just another cult.

UW Madison is supposed to have one of the best undergraduate programs in the country.

If UW Madison's students played a large role in the social excrement of the last few months, you'd be hard-pressed to believe that.

And I agree with edutcher...wonderful coverage from Althouse.com. Woof. How do you put up with it?

I see the Pros from Dover have finally arrived.

Seriously, we're down to the permanent Madison socialists. The ones that work at the coffee shops and used clothing stores. Go home to their flophouse rentals and five roommates. They were always there, just lost in the crowd of teachers, profs, students, and gummint workers. But it's summer, and the latter are not going to waste their three month vacation on this crap. SO now they stand alone. THey convince themselves that they can mae a difference. Sad. And funny.

Hey, they're just doing their jobs. Ease off these kids. They have to make a living and the Teachers union is only paying them minimum wage.

We should delver them some sandwiches and a good EEOC attorney. I didn't see any black or Hispanic workers anywhere. I think they have a wicked good race-based hiring case.

Was there something specific they objected to about this resolution, or are they pretty much in full time protest mode against everything?

If the latter, the GOP could have some fun with a round of feel-good resolutions supporting the troops, those hardest hit by the country's economic woes, sick children...

Oh, wait, they did that last week.

Sal म्हणाले...

My take on the younger ones is that they're in it for the cool protest stuff. It hardly matters what's being protested.

Projection, Projection! Projection!
Projection, Projection! Projection!

[POLICE OFFICERS]
Who, day and night, must scramble for a living,
Get pissed off by the students, watch people act like rats?
And who has the right, as masters of the capital,
To stand around in campaign hats?

The trooper! The trooper! Projection.
The trooper! The trooper! Projection.

[THE ORGANIZER]
Who must know the way to yell over a mob,
A loud mob, a lovely mob?
Who must look important and and reassure the mob:
The troopers are union too?

The loudmouth! The loudmouth! Projection!
The loudmouth! The loudmouth! Projection!

[STUDENTS]
Last year I started College, I'm studying humanities.
I hear the protest's where it's at. I think I'll be an ass.

The student! The student! PROJECTION!
The student! The student! PROJECTION!

I hope to see the bleeped version of that chanting show up in some future political ads - something to the effect that would you expose your young child to this kind of language in "your house"? Two summers ago my wife had a meeting near the Capitol in Madison - my daughter & I went along - we went to Vilas Zoo & the Capital. She's 11 years old - no way I would set foot in there now. Don't these people have any sense?

This relentless saga has provided a rich Cornucopia of material that can be massaged to thoroughly discredit the Democrats - like ofr not, they "own" this. A real "horn of plenty".

""remember, you were young once and you had a heart and you loved everybody.""

"Yeah, but unrelieved socialism put an end to that."

Right on. There is a scene at the end of 1884 where Winston and Julia meet. They both admuit to betrayal of the other and Julia remarks that once you decide the best course of action is to, "do it to Julia" you just don't feel the same about that other person again. That is what Socilaism does to the individual. .

How the general public in Wisconsin can continue to tolerate the coarse language and continuing disruptions shown in the Meadehouse video at the WI Capital Building is mind boggling. It needs to be stopped.

I would never bring my grandchildren to Madison and have them exposed to that.

Where's Nurse Ratchet when we need her. Is the Oshkosh State Hospital still open? If so, do they have room?

Most of the general public isn't aware of it. The Wisconsin MSM tries to avoid stories that portray the protesters negatively.
