Well there's 'normal' and then there's 'virtually normal.' Maybe if Trig had been less 'normal' and more 'virtually normal,' he would have gotten a lot less scrutiny so early in life.
Also, I like Palin's approach in that email. Reminds me of St. Catherine's Dialogue.
John Maudlin is a guy who offers a free e-service. Where you can get economic and financial news, every 3 weeks, into your in-box.
Drudge has up the link that leads to what's ahead. It ain't pretty. Our economy won't survive unless we cut spending. Our Federal Government, whoever is there next year. Has to slash everything until all they spend, annually, is $300-billion.
School lunch programs? You'll be lucky if the schools serve baloney sandwiches. Maybe, bowl-fulls of cold cereal, where General Mills gets the "lonely contract." At least that's my opinion.
Yes, anyone with pocket change will be billed for services. (You know, back in the 1940's Park Avenue doctors bill high fees, because the rich could afford it. While in the Bronx, among the poor, all they had was "trade." The doctor would get chickens. Or a carpenter's labor. But money? Who had any?)
Oh, yeah. And, debt will be restructured. ANYONE who has lent out money ... let alone at the meager current rates ... will lose!
Cut the losses, will be done by cancellations of debt. You think there's a golden goose? NO WAY.
Yeah. I wish Sarah Palin a lot of luck. The GOP? Still the stupid party. Glad she named her bus ONE NATION. Glad Trump just refurbished a 757.
And, I'm especially glad the democraps only have Soros ... who will spread his legs ... as if Anthony Weiner is coming to dinner.
Obama? He's using the White House, the way Bill Clinton used the Lincoln Bedroom. Want an invitation? Donate. Um. In amounts you don't have laying about.
I still can't tell if Palin is just that much smarter than anyone else or not. These emails are golden. That one about Trig is maybe the best. It was powerful.
But it wasn't the only one. There was one about her taking care of the people who couldn't go home to their families over a holiday. Or, when she was texting, and asked if she was driving or not, having just signed into law a bill that prevented such. And, no profanity. Just a pious mid-westerner's euphemisms for such.
A picture of a very human person who has streaks of brilliant humanity like that email about Trig.
I was hoping Palin would be chosen by McCain long before he did so. I had heard of her and didn't know much except that she was a young, attractive woman who seemed to be willing to step on the establishment if needed to do the right thing.
Since then, I have grown to respect her unlike any other politician. What other pol could have their emails scrutinized like this and not stink to high heaven. Maybe after they knew they were running for national office and had them sanitized, but before they knew?
She is exceptional, good, and frankly we are not worthy of her in office. I hope she does not run. We don't deserve the opportunity to tear such a person down, and tear her down we will.
Take care of yourself and your family, Sarah. You didn't make the mess we're in, and they would never let you fix it anyway, even if they knew you could. Stay out of the cesspool.
Reading some of the anti-Palin comments over there at the L.A. Times reveals nothing short of a sickness which some people have about this woman - irrational at its core
Well I'm sure those afflicted with PDS will still find something awful in this letter.
And as someone who's at best, lukewarm, on Sarah Palin, I found a lot to like in those e-mails.
Unintended consequences
(And I still contend that the Palin we see in those emails is the one John McCain wanted for a VP candidate. The fact that she was such a hit with the base was an added bonus.)
Palin's E-mails reveal a mature and loving person. How dare she act like that and make everyone envy her. I say we should slander her until she cracks. Without her genuine character and guts, what good is she?
The comments from the crazy people that just hate her are the part that scares me.
Really, someone says "I unconditionally love my child." and there are people who froth with rage.
I don't think she'll become President of the United States. You need to be someone who can reach the broad middle, and she hasn't done that.
But she's not some evil witch.
And I'm still predicting a Democratic victory in 2012 for the presidency, by 54:46. The Republicans will keep the House and pick up two to three Senate seats. But that's it.
Largeness. That's what's in her. Maybe the hatred boils down to jealousy: the jealousy of the small souled for the large of soul. It amazes me that so many are afraid the media will tear her down. They'll only get smaller and smaller as they try. It's hers if she wants it. The nomination and then the presidency in a landslide that will rid us of his shadow. And yes, I'm referencing Churchill on Hitler.
And I'm still predicting a Democratic victory in 2012 for the presidency, by 54:46.
Unless the economy does an abrupt and stellar recovery and gas prices drop through the floor over the next 12 to 17 months, it's hard to see how Obama has a chance. And that's not even getting to the fact that the blush is off the blossom when it comes to Obama. There'll be no repeat of 2008. He's a man with a record now, and it doesn't serve him well at all.
That was a beautiful letter. It would have been even if it had been intended for public release, so the fact that it was intended for her friends and family makes it even more so.
I was struck by Anne's decision about which of the quotes to extract from the letter and highlight on her post. Is it meant make her sound condescending? Sarah follows the question with the truth, "Have you noticed I make 'em all shapes and sizes? Believe me, there is no "perfect."
This quote struck me: "Some of the rest of the world may not want him, but take comfort in that because the world will not compete for him. Take care of him and he will always be yours!"
The long hard truth, and the letter distilled to it's base.
The Palin email trove is proving so far to be a powerful victory for Palin: if it's not a decisive grand slam, she's certainly decimating the ranks of her detractors. Seriously. I think all this is going to put a sizeable dent in the number of people who thought they could *never* vote for her.
I haven't followed the legal battles over these emails since they were first 'requested' back in '08, but the timing, however it happened, is pretty golden. It suddenly puts Palin in a position of being subjected to microscopic scrutiny, of the sort we could only *wish* (from a legal/moral standpoint) to impose on Weiner, and from all of it she's coming out stronger, cleaner; all the while making her detractors look like fools, busybodies, and paranoiacs.
I don't want to see Obama's emails. Just show me his transcripts. What's the problem? If he was applying for a job in the private sector, his employer would have every right to request them, and every reason to reject Obama for not producing them.
I can hear a Palin zing now: "They looked through years of my emails looking for something hidden, something dark and troubling. Well, they aren't gonna find any 'Bitter Clinger' quotes in my emails or in my appearances, public or private, because that's not the kind of person I am. What you see here, what you hear now, is what I am, was and will be. And my deepest wish is to serve you, the American citizen!"

Mrs Palin's reaction was courageous; it takes some sand in the craw to stick to one's principles when hit with that kind of body blow.
I have a feeling, if anybody could beat Uncle Saul, we have just seen her.

I wonder whether sifting through her emails would make me a Palin supporter.
Since I don't have way too much free time on my hands, I guess we'll never know.

Sarah Palin reminds me of my mom.

No, I don't have Down Syndrome.

I would take Trig Palin's normalacy over the People of WalMart....anyday. Those people are clearly not normal.
or..... normalcy if it were spelled correctly.
This is why people hate her so much.
Sarah Palin is a good person. I doubt she will run and win, but if she did we would be better off as a country.
The comments from the crazy people that just hate her are the part that scares me.

Really. The hatred is just bizarre. Some people just need to be kept away from the keyboard.

Give that man the big fluffy unicorn.

Damn, I'd love to write for her.
Maybe she should stop treating her campaign audience as special needs people.
She's so proud of us. Any self-respecting person leaves.
That stupid Palin! She can't even spell 'aisle" correctly! She can never be president! Plus, she didn't go to Harvard.
Carol, you need a blog.
Only if it comes with an editor.
I wonder if Little Miss Sullivan will shut her asshole once and for all at who birthed this child? Nah.
