Trump...

... slump.

He should get a bump for firing Latoya Jackson twice.

Triangle Man ayon kay ...

Trump managed to time the birth certificate release and made a quick killing on selling Obama short. Palin tried the same thing with the Osama photo and missed.

Trooper York ayon kay ...

I never liked Latoya all that much until I saw her on the Celebrity Apprentice. She seems like a very nice lady and no where as screwed as you would think she might be.

Of course next to Nene Leakes you can't help but look good.

JackOfClubs ayon kay ...

Huzzah! I could never quite believe that Republicans were silly enough to nominate Trump. Not too thrilled with the Romney/Huckabee domination of the poll, but at least they are serious candidates.

Harry Phartz ayon kay ...

Trump was never a serious anything with regard to politics, of any flavor. He's just a self-promoting huckster. But I have to admit, I did like his sideshow on the birth certificate.

Kirby Olson ayon kay ...

Trump's wife means he could never carry the evangelicals. Huckabee could, and I think even Romney wouldn't put them off. Mormonism is outside the mainstream of Protestantism, but the core of it is similar enough to the other core principles. The life itself has to be fairly clean, and Trump's life could never pass the sniff test from an evangelical. He should get a clue. but he's a lot of fun, and should pump up the ratings as long as he lasts. He and Palin are fun to watch. But God help us if either one becomes president.

edutcher ayon kay ...

If he has any real ambitions, his issue is the economic nationalism he talks about.

Right now, it makes sense to lie low a little until the point wears off Neptune's Spear.

After that, I'd love for him to keep at Little Zero about the academic transcripts.

windbag ayon kay ...

As razor-thin as elections have become, I don't expect either party to nominate anyone too far from main-stream. Trump is the hors d' oeuvres platter before the main event. Any Dem who seriously dreamed that Trump had a chance or that the Repubs were insane enough to nominate Trump is delusional, excessively optimistic, or some combination of the two.

Dustin ayon kay ...

The polls mean nothing.

Not that Trump had a chance, or ever did, but the polls right now have nothing to do with the GOP primary. Many of the contenders haven't even announced yet, wisely laying low.

Those paying attention will be nearly impossible to sway, so we're a bit less relevant than the voters who dominate primaries based on cable news coverage and some basic concepts about politics.

This is manufactured news, though I admit I find it very interesting.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Trump has played a real role. He stepped into the Birth Certificate mine field and cleared the way for others after him to be safe of that trap. He let Palin know that men are still scared of a strong Female leader. But damn, didn't we have fun watching Donald slam the biased interviewers with facts. If Trump doesn't run, then the way is opened back up for Palin to fight it out against Daniel. Let's hope that Fox News quits offering the analyst's microphone every night to Daniel's campaign manager, Rove.

Next stop, Dancing with the Stars.

What happened to Reebee Jackson.

I purchased her 12 inch song Centipede when I was like 8.

I loved Reebee.

Palladian ayon kay ...

My question is: what does Jackson Pollock have to do with Donald Trump? Is it that the splattered remains of Trump's electoral ambitions resemble a late-period Pollock?

Shouting Thomas ayon kay ...

So, we're not going to get to bitch slap the Chinese after all?

Rob ayon kay ...

The drop in Trump's poll numbers is huuuuuuge! It's the greatest drop ever! It's Trumpariffic.

KCFleming ayon kay ...

Trump Slump?

Dump the Chump!

That grumpy lump!

Humpty hump!

Forrest Gump!

Curious George ayon kay ...

"F*ck the motherf*cking polls!"

mccullough ayon kay ...

Perhaps Trump now should go for the Democratic nomination. He could make the closure of Gitmo and the prosecution of Obama for war crimes for Liby and the murder of OBL his platform points.

coketown ayon kay ...

Trump slump makes the clown frown.

<:-(

Phil 314 ayon kay ...

It took awhile for the public to realize

This is NOT a reality show

In ten years he'll be one of those "just before the commercial" tidbits on VH1's I love the teen's

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Without Trump in the mix, the GOP must chose between running the historic first Woman candidate, or running the historic first midget candidate. These are interesting times.

I'm Full of Soup ayon kay ...

That's OK. Trump found the blueprint as to how easy it is to get under Obama's skin.

And how to pound and pound on his abysmal economic record.

While, at the same time, asking about his missing academic records.

It was pretty damn smart of Trump.

CJinPA ayon kay ...

Hey!

What happened to The Macho Response blog?

http://themachoresponse.blogspot.com/

I first found via here.

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

If you were althouse, what kind of questions would you make up for a Constitutional Law Exam?

Any ideas? I got 3 days to study.

Peter Hoh ayon kay ...

CJ, Crack has moved to WordPress.

CJinPA ayon kay ...

Thanks Peter. I was just going through my bookmarks and thought "I haven't visited there in a while..."

I don't always get all of his riffs, but it's different.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Crack is a "quitter", like Sarah Palin was accused of being, who was also stuck and being slowly bled to death by misuse of unique BS rules. Crack retreated out of that choke hold that Google had on his blog and is now attacking from a better position at WordPress where his page views are not warning censored.

Jason (the commenter) ayon kay ...

People heard what he had to say and decided they didn't like him. That's why so many Republicans refuse to officially announce their candidacy.

garage mahal ayon kay ...

Bet Trump is glad he said a bunch of racist asshole remarks.......for nothing.

Fen ayon kay ...

The game show host won't be President.

We are surprised?

Ann Althouse ayon kay ...

"My question is: what does Jackson Pollock have to do with Donald Trump? Is it that the splattered remains of Trump's electoral ambitions resemble a late-period Pollock?"

LOL.

(Auto-complete from an attempt at "polls.")

Unknown ayon kay ...

Besides subjective oppinion, name one reason trump SHOULDN'T win. Anyone, please. Lest you be just as bad as the liberals...

Fen ayon kay ...

1) He made his fortune by being "too big too fail". Not the kind of financial leadership we need right now.

2) He's a game show host who's never held elected office. These are the times that would try even Bismark. We don't have any more time left for on the job training.

3) I don't take him seriously, nor do I trust his motives. He doesn't want to serve the people, he's after a PR splash to increase the value of his name.

Fen ayon kay ...

Not that I'm very thrilled with the rest of the field either.

miller ayon kay ...

This news has made my day.

He's crazy. Not in a good way.

Revenant ayon kay ...

Besides subjective oppinion, name one reason trump SHOULDN'T win. Anyone, please.

He hasn't released his long-form birth certificate yet. So we can't be sure he was actually born in America.

traditionalguy ayon kay ...

Trump's problem is that he is way over qualified for the job of CIC in a time of carefully staged world financial crises. GOP guys are not comfortable with a leader who knows more than they do. And besides he would probably remodel the small White House and expand it onto land taken by eminent domain from the Chinese Embassy.

Triangle Man ayon kay ...

How many companies has he bankrupted now? Three, four?

Triangle Man ayon kay ...

Lets let him run ten countries. One of them might end up profitable.

AlanKH ayon kay ...

Just a few weeks ago Doonesbury declared Trump the king of the Tea Party movement? What went wrong? Surely the tea Partiers weren't offended by his Kelo-esque employment of eminent domain, or his past support for universal health care.

Delayna ayon kay ...

"Just a few weeks ago Doonesbury declared Trump the king of the Tea Party movement? What went wrong?"

If you are seriously asking this question, you are mistaken on the premise. The Tea Party is not a monolith. Tea Partiers don't take marching orders, and if they did--they sure as heck wouldn't take them from Doonesbury. (Or the NYT, or CBS, or any of the other lamestream media that attempts to define the Tea Party in ways that they are not.)

If you're joking, sorry, my browser isn't showing the "sarcasm" font.

Fen ayon kay ...

It was sarcasm.

Delayna ayon kay ...

Dang it, that's what I get for being too cheap to buy the extra fonts package. Noooo, I'm smart enough to see sarcasm all by myself!

Known Unknown ayon kay ...

or running the historic first midget candidate.

They've been running mental midgets for years, so they have some experience.

Known Unknown ayon kay ...

who's never held elected office.

This matters the least to me.

Not that I would vote for Trump ... he's just as big government as Obama or Huck — it's just a different looking big government.

Known Unknown ayon kay ...

How many companies has he bankrupted now? Three, four?

Take a look at the country's ledger ... at least he'd be in his element.

Fen ayon kay ...

No worries. I don't remember seeing you here before today. Its hard to catch without /s tags unless you've been reading the regulars awhile.

Almost Ali ayon kay ...

As it stands now, Trump is the only man worth voting for. Because I can't wait to watch him serve Chinese take-out to the Chinese premier. And while eating, letting the Dalai Lama in through the front door.

But now the Donald has to get creative. He has to show the electorate exactly how he drove his name to the top of buildings.

AlanKH ayon kay ...

I was mocking Doonesbury's recent series (April 18-23 - anyone with a free Gocomics.com account can find it in archive - and read the insipid yes-men comments). Trudeau was portraying Trump as the Tea Party's new co-leader (with Sarah P.) right when Trump's Tea-Party-unfriendly beliefs were starting to get attention.

Fen,

I lurk a lot, but comment only occasionally.

Thanks!

Delayna ayon kay ...

Alan,

I don't read Doonesbury; I had a bad episode in a Dr.'s office when "The View" came on and I was looking through my purse for a brick. Luckily I found my mp3 player and saved myself the cost of a flatscreen.
