The double ignominy of having jolly old Saint Nick, Santa Klaus, murdered in a houseing project named for you?
Although the identity of the body had not yet been determined, many residents were shocked that it could be their heavyset neighbor.
"He was a sweetheart," said Sheila Jefferson. "He was really nice."
One woman, who lives on the same floor, suspected the man was selling drugs out of the apartment and he recently warned her not to let her children play in the hallway.
"He was a nice person to everybody," said Yaniris Laureano, 21. "He was really nice to my kids. He used to give them candy or toys."
But other community members questioned why the development was honoring someone who they said seemed disconnected from the community.
"They shouldn't change the name," said 21-year-old Mikayla Workman, a former resident who was back visiting her boyfriend and grandmother. "She hasn't done nothing. There's still rat holes. People still complain about paint chipping."
And 400 pound drug dealers still get hacked to death on the premises. Change we can believe in.
"There's still rat holes. People still complain about paint chipping."
See, this is the problem. If I lived there, my place would not have rat holes or chipped paint. Especially if someone else is paying the rent and I have all day to watch Oprah, or gain 400 lbs, or cut up a 400 lb guy. Get off your ass, and clean your own damned cave, and if it smells like dead buffalo, do something for Christ sake. Oh yea, we need to raise taxes to pay these people. Riiiight.
Gasp! When I read the teaser title, I thought it was REALLY at Justice Sotomayor's house. I rushed to Gawker to see if they already had the story about this river of blood on her stoop.
If you must have stuff named after you, you or your heirs ought to fight to have the Good Stuff with name affixed.
Good idea - The USS Reagan aircraft carrier.
Bad idea - The Ronald Reagan Institute for the Criminally Insane (Homage to Airplane the Sequel, movie).
Good Idea - The Sonia Sotomayor scholarship to the wisest Latina in sciences at PS 115.
Bad idea - The Sonia Sotomayor Drug Dealer bail fund.
How it shouldn't be: "I's lives in the Martin Luther King apartments off Martin Luther King Avenue and me and my 4 chilluns and they daddies done all went to Martin Luther King elementary school".
"You poor unfortunate woman".
MLK - Instantly lowering the value or reputation of any locale with his name attached to it. Just the way it is.
C-fudd, you still pimping the "Shankman da Jooooo" meme? You're not going to make us laugh with that "secular Jew" stuff, now, are you? You shat out an unhinged, hysterical, panty-shitting rant about Shankman even though he has no visible connection to the Jewish community other than a sorta-kinda-couldbe Germanic sounding last name. IOW, C-fudd works on the Nazis' "one drop" theory, like any good Jew-baiting psychopath.
An old saying applies here - every word C-fudd says is a lie, including "and" and "the".
Eliminate Lincoln's Birthday and name buildings for Sotomayor. Why don't our betters go all the way and rename San Francisco Bay the Rodney King Inlet?
Ok, I'm sorry to be stuck on such a superficial point, but:
"400-pound man was found stuffed in a duffel bag..."
... Just how freakin' big was this duffel bag?? There are body bags that wouldn't hold such a thing, let alone something meant to take sports equipment with you to the playing field.

Maybe it was an athlete in one of those log-rolling contests? I always wondered how they hauled the logs for practise.
I have to say it is just bizarre that damn near every time Cedarford posts a comment here, Gary Rosen follows up a few minutes later with a ritual denunciation.
And Gary Rosen never has anything to say About anything except that Cedarford sucks and is an anti-Semite.
Has Gary Rosen been assigned to stalk Cedarford by the Mossad or is he just another one of Cedarford's personalities? Surely this cat isn't doing this on his own time.
Here's how out of touch with common sense this entire place was:
Although the identity of the body had not yet been determined, many residents were shocked that it could be their heavyset [400 pound] neighbor.
The rotund neighbor also was known for advising younger residents.
"He'd give me lectures about life lessons," said Anthony Terc, 17. "He was a cool guy."
A friend said she recently ran into the man, who claimed he was trying to exercise and eat healthier to lose weight.
Sources said investigators believe the decomposing body had been in the apartment for days before the grisly find.
Everybody loved the sweetie pie drug dealer who liked to hang out with children, though he had been dead for days before anyone noticed he was missing.
I grew up in a housing project. The etiquette rules for interacting with 400 lb drug addicts require one to never make eye contact and to try to be as inconspicuous as a hobbit in their presence.....When neighbors say how nice a guy he was, they are like Tripoli residents praising the wisdom and statesmanship of Gaddafi.

Wise Latina drug dealers have freezers for this circumstance.
the Justice Sonia Sotomayor Houses ?
Winning The Future (WTF)?
good grief.
A course in drug dealer contract law might be helpful.
Gee, why not an Amazon.com link for a duffle bag with a 400 lb body capacity?
I didn't realize that they are naming public housing complexes after Justices.
How about naming an elderly housing complex "Althouse" - that could work in some of our WI communities with a strong German heritage.
Good Lord.
I'd say this is another excellent reason not to name stuff after people while they're still alive.
"I'd say this is another excellent reason not to name stuff after people while they're still alive."
At least the Sotamayor Hovels, Whores and Drug Dispensary Complex is still open.
NJ elementary school named for Obama will close
She allowed her name to be used on a housing project.
She refers to herself as the "wise Latina".
Perhaps, a touch of megalomania.
Does Justice John Roberts have a housing project??
Who sponsored the legislation to name the housing project?

"We named our slum after you."
"Thanks!"
Renamed anyway. Used to be the Bronxdale Houses.

What Phil Gramm said 9/6/81:
“We’re the only nation in the world where all our poor people are fat.”
Maybe "all" is a little over the top, but still a valid point made almost 30 years ago.
Sounds like some unwise Latinas forgot to hide the evidence.
Not to fear, AG Holder will promptly ignore the case.
From the headline and what Ann posted I thought that Sotomayor owned an apartment next door and the police were responding to an incident there.
Had to read the full article twice to figure out what this was about.

How does a 400 lb man get hacked to death without the neighbors hearing it?
From Freeman's link:
But other community members questioned why the development was honoring someone who they said seemed disconnected from the community.
"They shouldn't change the name," said 21-year-old Mikayla Workman, a former resident who was back visiting her boyfriend and grandmother. "She hasn't done nothing. There's still rat holes. People still complain about paint chipping."

First the closing of the Obama school in Asbury Park, NJ. Now the chunked up corpse found in the Sotomayor House.
Looks like our prog Utopia will be delayed for a bit.

Me too.
Also, from the article, he was a suspected drug dealer who gave candy to children. I can't help connecting those two things in a negative way.

I take some comfort in knowing their side will get embarrassing stuff named after them, like:
Barack Obama Boulevard (yet another rat-infested, drug dealing corner in America)
Justice Sonia Sotomayor Houses (making Cabrini-Green look like Buckingham Palace)
Michelle Obama Weight Loss Spa and Resort (motto: "Fool, Don't Be Trippin' on That Twinkie")
Meanwhile, my side has:
The George Bush Centre for Intelligence at the CIA
Yeah, wise Latina, suck on that.
Cheers,
Victoria

Oh crap. I just realised I posted in remarkably the same vein as Cedarford did, about the story! Down to MLK Boulevard!
But mines was better. *preen*

Not Sonia Sotomayor's "house." This is a housing project. Probably built before Sotomayor was confirmed to the Supreme's bench.
What's not shown is the score card of how many dead people show up there.
Putting a 400-pound dead man into a duffle bag? How many men did it take? For most, heavy lifting like that is nearly impossible.
Besides. Maybe the guys who stuffed the bag went out for a beer, thinking they could just toss the bag into the river. But forgot to come back?
Has the "smartest Latina on the Court" produced an opinion yet of note?
No. I don't mind her name being on a building in the Bronx.

Better yet, rename San Francisco Bay The Harvey Milk Take It Up The Ass Inlet. The beautiful withit people would die of ecstasy.

I don't wish to speak ill of any dead, but men giving out candy and toys to kids, outside of a Santa costume, are generally not "a nice person".
