"If agitators from an opposing view show up, keep people separated and not let our people engage them."

Meade interviews the volunteer security guys in orange vests:

That is the nicest goon thug I've ever heard.

bagoh20 કહ્યું...

Incivility is fine as long as there is no discourse involved.

Marilee કહ્યું...

Really, "agitators" with opposing views??? Why are the union folks not agitators???
And that's the way it is.

Hank Rearden_WI કહ્યું...

So then "our house" actually means to these goons, "my house".

અજ્ઞાત કહ્યું...

Perfect, fake marshals at a fake protest supressing free speech.

You really can't make this ridiculous shit up.

vbspurs કહ્યું...

I want to know more about this training? And Meade's question was apposite, as it turned out, and not rude.

Anyone CAN just put on an orange vest and say they're a marshal. Pfff.

bagoh20 કહ્યું...

Real marshals have cowboy hats. In Madison, they would, of course, wear the cheese hats. No big hat - no authority.

reader_iam કહ્યું...

Tempts one to don an orange vest just to see if anyone notices or poses questions.

vbspurs કહ્યું...

RIA, they'd skulk out a fake marshal in a sec. They wouldn't have their hands out waiting for someone to drop a dollar on it.

wv: reper (Grimm Reper was the old German spelling)

Cheers,
Victoria

So, can the agitators from an opposing viewpoint train their own marshals and have competing marshaling going on?

I think we need to determine volunteer marshal etiquette.

bagoh20 કહ્યું...

As relates to these protest, what the difference between a union poseur and a real cop in Madison?

I don't know. I'm asking.

Lincolntf કહ્યું...

They were trained by the "Labor Temple"? That's a new one.

Unknown કહ્યું...

Oh, cute.

"keep people separated and not let our people engage them."

Since the union slugs are the ones acting like Ernst Rohm's finest, no doubt they don't want any engaging. Those "agitators from an opposing view" bring their vidcams and record what actually happened and post it for all the world to see it.

It was so much easier when media was centralized.

Dare anyone ask if these "marshals" are in any way, shape, or form in breach of any law usurping what would seem to be a police function?

(not that the union cops would enforce it...)

Chef Mojo કહ્યું...

Labor Temple? Isn't that an offshoot of the People's Temple?

wv: after: math

BJM કહ્યું...

Wouldn't this make them vigilantes?

btw-I wonder if these guys realize the personal liability they are assuming?

rhhardin કહ્યું...

Tell him you're an admiral.

Shawn Levasseur કહ્યું...

Actually, this seems pretty smart.

An act of self-policing on the protest organizers, in hopes of keeping their people from doing something stupid in a face to face confrontation.

retire05 કહ્યું...

So an orange vest makes you a "marshall?" Is that the midwestern version? Marshalls wear badges, not orange vests.

And they are there to keep the "opposing" view from a confrontation with the labor group? How the hell does that work? If an "opposition" protester gets in the face of a union thug, and the "marshall" intervens, well the "marshall" is simply another private citizen engaging in something that is probably unlawful.

Also, I have been harsh on Ann for her lack of reporting on the various examples of intimidation and violence by the union sympathizers. This morning I read her post about the handcuffs on the doors, and her questioning of the reporters who are sympathetic to the protesters and the police who failed to exercise their duth.

Kudos, Ann. It was a good post, and perhaps you will decide to dig a little deeper and see just exactly who is behind these protests and what dog they have in the hunt.

bagoh20 કહ્યું...

We don't need no stinking badges.

BJM કહ્યું...

@Chef Mojo

Labor Temple? Isn't that an offshoot of the People's Temple?

Heh.

There has to be a Kool-aid joke in there somewhere, eh?

deborah કહ્યું...

lol rh.

deborah કહ્યું...

google 'labor temple'

Lincolntf કહ્યું...

Wow, I Googled the Madison Labor Temple, and what was their only "upcoming event" listed?

Here it is:

Troublemakers School
Madison Labor Notes event, with "State of the Unions" talks, poetry, cartoon/photo exhibit, 5 pm, 4/1 (free); and informational/organizing workshops, 9 am-4 pm, 4/2 ($25), Madison Labor Temple. RSVP: www.labornotes.org/madison. 770-8896 Madison Labor Temple

PaulV કહ્યું...

No separation of church and union?
Since the Temple is in Jerusalem, would these be Labor Synagogues?

galdosiana કહ્યું...

The TAA has been the main group organizing these protests and gathering volunteers to marshal the area. It started out with basically TAs doing the marshaling, and it has since branched off into other random people who want to get involved.

Rick67 કહ્યું...

@bagoh - You mean "we don't need no stinking badgers!"

(With apologies to Weird Al.)
