... she fails to see that other people are sharp and funny too and mocks a satire as if it were serious. Embarrassing. At least she humbly acknowledges the mistake... unlike some people:
Maddow's humility sparkles in comparison to The Huffington Post's, which upon being duped by ChristWire last August, simply erased parts of the article that showed they weren't in on the joke. In that instance, ChristWire had published an advice guide for women on how to tell if their husbands are gay.

Party like it's 1773, baby!
I've been saying for years we don't write food reviews, and people still don't get the joke.
She's so humble and ready to admit her mistakes that she Tweeted her mea culpa. I'm sure it was read by literally dozens of admirers.
By the way: What's with that smirk? I mean, I might have had a shit-eating grin like that, just before someone in my 4th grade class would sit on a tack I'd placed on their chair. Other than that, I don't know if I've ever formed an expression like that.
And she has it all the time. What the hell. Is that some sort of tic? I mean, I don't want to make fun of her if she can't help it, but Jesus, that's annoying.
Awww, and it was just yesterday Stanley Crouch was telling us what a great source for truth she is!
You can't make this stuff up! (I could but you can't.)
Even if it were real, so what? It wasn't reported that Sarah Palin wanted that, but that someone on the internet who no one's ever heard of wanted Sarah Palin to want that. I'm sure that if I spent 10 minutes on google, I could find no end of leftist sites stating that Barack Obama should do all measure of absurd and awful things (no satire needed).
I'm sorry, the fact that there are kooks on the internet is not that scary to me. Why would you give them attention?

Sharp isn't necessarily a characteristic one associates with the on-air people at MSNBC.
Funny, maybe, but only unintentionally.
She's a lesbian, right?
And the assumption is that Palin hates lebians? And is, thus, a class enemy.
Where did Maddow get that?
And that's the reason for the smirk. Maddow is a member of the victim class. The smirk is the self-righteous halo that adorns the victim class.
Maddow's just like a black person under Jim Crow. She's a victim of oppression. And Republicans are the segregationists. Well, despite the fact that the Democrats were actually the segregationists.
But, if it were 1955, the Republicans would be the segregationists. Or, something like that.
Naw, the smirk is because she's smarter than the rest of us.
Rachel Maddow is smart, witty and wasting her life as an ideological snark on a tv show that gets some attention but has little influence. Great evidence for my thesis that liberalism is fashion statement. Foolish lady.
If she was so smart, she would examine what biases and beliefs she may have that allowed her to fall for this.
But getting lefties to hyperventilate about Sarah Palin is easier than shooting the proverbial fish in a barrel...even if they are on bicycles. One of these days, they just may pause and have a "wait a minute" moment, but I'm not holding my breath or going to spend my time inventing new cliches.
I once made the observation that we should outlaw midget porn because it was a kind of gateway drug to pedophilia. Someone replied that he was a midget and felt that my observation was discriminatory towards little people and that they deserved the same sexual rights as all others. I'm not sure but I think I was being had. That's the trouble with subtle satire. You don't know who's sending who up. Maddow will probably claim that she was just mocking gullible internet readers and that we're too dumb to get her joke.
Lefties hyperventilate about Sarah Palin and Christians in general. It seems we have a hate cult on our hands.
Lol.. I love it.
Well, I'd still like to examine the basis of the Palin hatred.
Why does Maddow assume (as she apparently does) that Palin is a class enemy of lesbians?
Palin's hetero and has babies. OK.
Now, I'm going to let you all in a little secret that I've learned as a byproduct of a completely disreputable life.
Lots of hetero girls with babies like to eat pussy every once in a while. Even evangelical hetero girls.
Not saying that Palin does. But, maybe she does. Maybe Palin really isn't the class enemy Maddow imagines she is. Maybe Palin really isn't as uptight about whatever it is that Maddow imagines she is.
Wouldn't surprise me a bit.
Lots of hetero girls with babies like to eat pussy every once in a while. Even evangelical hetero girls.
No they don't. Christian women aren't part-time perverts like liberals.
Just like Chris Matthews talking about the Panama Canal being in Egypt, when you thrive on making fun of the mistakes of others (stupidity), simply admitting *you* made a mistake is the equivalent of the non apology, apology, "I'm sorry you were offended". Its hardly humble and won't change anything.
@The Crack Emcee
Stanley Crouch is an idiot - He disses Miles Davis whenever he gets the chance.
Christian women aren't part-time perverts like liberals.
"Lord, make me chaste, but not yet."--St. Augustine.
Maddow has a lot to be humble about. If MSNBC could not have two minutes hates with Palin would they just attack Emmanuel Goldstein?
"Governor Palin needs to speak out publicly and forcibly for an American-led invasion to protect our interests in North Africa."
Oh boy, with Sarah Palin leading the charge!
It's so unfair to get my hopes up that, finally a dream fulfilled, mine eyes might see the glory...
Crack that is unfair. I read the column by Stanley Crouch in the Daily News yesterday and I just wrote it off as the typical nonsense that bigots like him and Juan Gonzales and all of the rest of the idoits that they hire spout.
He has long been a moron and not worthy of mention. After all he is a journalist.
rsb,
Stanley Crouch is an idiot - He disses Miles Davis whenever he gets the chance.
While Miles gave us a lot - including a lot to diss - I think Stanley's too much of an idiot to know which-is-which.
"Just like Chris Matthews talking about the Panama Canal being in Egypt..."
But denial is still in Egypt, right?
Maddow's hit the Comcast iceberg and is taking on water faster than the Titanic.
Christwire sounds like the Harding Institute on steroids. LMAO!
Gah!
These folks like Ms. Maddow are so gleeful in their "get" that they suspend every molecule of common sense.
How hard is it to say, "oh come on, that can't be for real--check them out." Five minutes later, everyone has a good laugh, and onto another potential item for the show.
Or else you still use it, but reveal it's a satire.
Not that hard, unless you have a Pavlovian slaver for getting those wicked Righties.
The Crack Emcee said...
Awww, and it was just yesterday Stanley Crouch was telling us what a great source for truth she is!
Crack, Crouch certainly made an ass out of himself in this piece and the comments below told him the same loud and clear.
@shoutingthomas
"Lots of hetero girls with babies like to eat pussy every once in a while. Even evangelical hetero girls."
No, I call bullshit along with @Alex.
The 'evangelical' hetero girls you claim to know are EINO's, then.
Pretty imaginative theory to explain PDS you have there, guy. Nothing like smearing real evangelicals.
There is a fair amount of entertainment value in someone trying to make protests in Egypt about Sarah Palin, though.
After all... EVERYTHING is about Sarah Palin.
She sure fell for that one. Do liberals really fear Sarah Palin will invade Egypt like Barry Goldwater started a nuclear war? If Rachel is so smart that she believes her own propaganda, then she is in big trouble.
tradguy - the problem isn't what Rachael Madcow believes, it's that millions of under-30 types believe what she believes.
The problem is, you can hardly buy a Jazz CD these days that doesn't include liner notes byCrouch. Annoying.
I thought this clip of Michael Voris was some sort of satire, but it turns out that it is a real clip. Voris was serious, but has since pulled the video from his site.
How to tell if your husband is gay?.... Maybe it was Arianna that got so mad about it.
Peter, I've been party to more than one speculative conversation that concluded that the best possible form of government was a benign dictatorship. The problem is the "benign" part and what must be done to stay in power. I couldn't listen long enough to Voris to get to that part.
I think that it's unfortunate that we discuss government theory so rarely and politics so often and that actually defending modified democracy and the wisdom of the common man is either embarrassing, portrayed as imperialism, or dismissed as opportunistic populism.
Who is Rachel Maddow? Another one of those hacks working for Pravda Inc?
"Being liberal means never having to say your sorry."
Imagine if Palin made such a mistake. I'm quite sure it would be proof an I.Q. below 80 to Maddow, and she would tell the world just that. Maybe it is such a proof. Now Tell us Rachael, just how stupid such a thing is, and how it proves that such a woman should not be listened to, but rather laughed at as a fool. You know you would.
Maddow is nothing more than Olbermann with a cunt.
Why is there a homosexuality tag on this post? Can't straights be dumb as well?
you're. God dammit!
That's OK. I wrote this based on a link a friend had on his Facebook page. Only after I had written it and was about to publish did I google the Landover Baptist Church only to find I too had been had! But I made the necessary alterations and the story was ready to go on line.
A change of opinions is almost unknown among liberal journalists, and they never do anything but what they are told.
Who is Rachel Maddow?
MSNBC's Man of Mystery.
She DIDN'T "humbly" acknowledge her mistake; she tried to justify herself in that Tweet by calling the satire "brilliant." There's nothing brilliant about that satire -- it's about as obvious as a Mack truck. The reason Maddow couldn't see through it (besides the fact that she's apparently too clueless or arrogant to use fact-checkers) is that she's so invested in her own cartoon-character stereotypes about conservatives that no warning bells go off when she reads a call for a civilian to lead a military invasion. She actually believes conservatives think like that. She fell for it because she's ignorant, uninformed, and ready to believe anything that confirms her prejudices. Oh, and also because the quote used the word "Palin," which is all it takes to shut down the brains of many a liberal -- especially liberal women.
Meanwhile, check this morning's bit on Instapundit that has Valerie Jarrett confusing a uniformed general with a waiter and ordering him to bring her more wine. But that, of course, is the fault of the general's brilliant satire in putting on his uniform that morning.
You know who else thinks she's so sharp?
Jarrett was seated at the head table along with several other big-name politicians and a handful of high-ranking military officials. As an officer sporting several stars walked past Jarrett, she signaled for his attention and said, “I’d like another glass of wine.”
White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, who was seated next to Jarret, began “cracking up nervously,” our tipster said, but no one pointed out to Jarrett that the man sporting a chestful of medals was not her waiter.
Isn't that cute?
@Jay:
I get confused by a guy wearing a uniform and medals sometimes, so I have to be sympathetic. But I usually confuse the guy with Elton John.
I actually like Maddow. Of all the pundit heads on TV, she's one of the least bombastic or offensive.
I hate her politics, but she's at least a reasonable and thoughtful person.
She has a great follow up to this where she quotes all the outrageous claims made by Beck and Rush showing how it is possible to believe this crap/satire-- really the events in Egypt are somehow linked to China taking over New Zealand?
Roesch:
I've seen her take that approach before, seeking to justify, or minimize, her goof. Not classy, in my opinion.
She took a similar approach when she wrongly claimed former Rep. Steve Stockman received advanced warning of the Oklamhoma City bombing.
Sorry, that's not an oopsie. That's an outrageous assertion, and the best follow up is an unadorned apology.
This situation of course is a lot less serious, but the same thing applies. Just say, "we screwed up" without the "we're so much smarter than you" smirk.
RV;
She has a great follow up to this where she quotes all the outrageous claims made by Beck and Rush showing how it is possible to believe this crap/satire-- really the events in Egypt are somehow linked to China taking over New Zealand?
Nope, best thing is to just admit you'd been had, apologize and move on. anything more makes you look even more foolish.
