Back in the 90s there was a sci-fi showed called Babylon 5 and there was a scene where the commander of the space station is talking to the newly arrived 'political officer' and she is telling him about how great things are on Earth now with the new leadership. No more poverty, racism, homelessness, everyone gets along etc. The following lines from that scene are poignant.
