Is that your house you're facing from the bench? It looks very early-Frank-Lloyd-Wrightian. Nice.

Ann Althouse ayon kay ...

Yeah. It's "Prairie Style."

Plowmen

A plow, they say, to plow the snow.
They cannot mean to plant it, no--
Unless in bitterness to mock
At having cultivated rock.

I feel a little bit guilty because the weather in Denver has been quite nice lately. This little:

Say, would you like to see tonight's pork tenderloin roast? I might could possibly perhaps maybe give you ideas.

john bord ayon kay ...

Prairie Style, something new? I have not seen anything around here that looks like that.

Then I may have to move some things.

Unknown ayon kay ...

Prairie Style? Where's the corral and the bunkhouse?

Seriously, it looks like you guys got off easy. I don't think we'll be that fortunate.

I never did venture outside...even to sit on a bench or drive to the gym. Nothin', nowhere. I'm such a wuss.

I did get my wrappimg done, though.

Irene ayon kay ...

I did not venture outside, either.

It was a good day to write exams and knit.

...very lovely...here in L.A., we had a Santa Ana condition; 78 degrees in Santa Monica - the temperature is taken on the pier - soon i will enjoy a dinner of grilled chicken, avocados, and tomatoes, with fresh sourdough...still, i love snow... :)

MadisonMan ayon kay ...

I did not venture outside, either.

We went to Summers and got our tree. There weren't many other people there. I actually called first to make sure they were open.

Living now in L.A., where it was near 80 and sunny today, and being originally from western Pennsylvania, which looks and climates very much like Madison, I have really enjoyed watching the seasons change through your photos. It's been almost like living back home again this year. While I miss the seasonal changes, I prefer to watch it rather than live it from October through March. Thanks to your great photos, I got the best of both worlds this year. Well done, Althouse.

Your yard looks very small. I think you need a larger garden of Meaden.

victoria ayon kay ...

Hate to say this, Ann, it was 85 here in Los Angeles today. Didn't buy any poinsettias because I'm afraid that they will wilt with the heat.

Ouch

Yes, hot here in SoCal. I don't like it. I am reminded of January of 1982. I was attending Universtiy of Alaska Fairbanks. I was in California visiting the family for Christmas. When I departed from Burbank airport on January 10th, it was 104 F. When I arrived in Fairbanks it was -45 F.

Haha, and YOU Chip? You should be arrested for working up my appetite for PORK!

David ayon kay ...

That is a great recipe, Chip, and presented in a lust producing way too. (Food lust.)

Have you every tried the recipe with pork butt or shoulder? We get amazingly good pork at Marchant's Meat and Sausage in Sturgeon Bay, Wi. It's all local pork, and butt and shoulder are more flavorful and complex than tenderloin.

Meade ayon kay ...

@ Bushman of the Kohlrabi: ha ha ha! The older I get, the smaller the yard should get.

Irene ayon kay ...

David, is Marchant's in Brussels?

Dust Bunny Queen ayon kay ...

Unseasonably warm here in mountainous higher elevations of northern California. Usually we have snow, freezing and often single digit temperatures at night.

I was able to work a bit in the yard, clean up the decks in just a light sweatshirt. Even sat on the deck for a bit at noon in the sunshine. It was springlike

Lovely but weird.

AllenS ayon kay ...

We got a lot of snow around here. Local schools closed tomorrow.

Snow -- bad, bad, bad.

Peter Hoh ayon kay ...

You call that a blizzard?

AllenS ayon kay ...

Very few vehicles going by my place this morning.

Kirby Olson ayon kay ...

What is the origin of the different cafes?

Peter Hoh ayon kay ...

Kirby, cafes are the Althouse name for open threads.
