A rose by any name smells just as sweet. Badgers can go to the Rose bowl. Now, Democrats can also go to the Rose bowl=victory (224 in House; 54 in Senate).
The challenge will be if there is any challenge to the leadership of Pelosi or Reid. No at all. If Reid is not the Leader, then I want Russ Feingold to be the leader. If Pelosi is not the leader, then I want Steny Hoyer to be the Speaker.
The GOP is the thorn to the Democrats Rose.
NB: I already have an invitation to the 2012 re-election victory planning strategy. I have hit the big time. A really big time.
I don't know how this fucking BCS works. The system was put together by lawyers and computer geeks. But, it used to be Big 10 winner v Pac 10 winner. If that's the case...Oregon by 2 touchdowns[at minimum].
The Rose Bowl is calling the names of Tolzien and Watt to meet Oregon or TCU man to man. A winning football program raises applications to a school more than any famous teachers. But having both is pure college heaven.
Hawkeyes say... you're welcome. We let you beat us, then we took care of Mich State for you.
And enjoy your Rose Bowl victory. You won't have to play Oregon, as they'll be off contesting in the Big College Super Champion Honcho bowl, or whatever it is...
Hey! I just now got back from smelling the Rose Bowl.
Makes for a great run around the loop.
It mostly smells like asphalt, but there's a lot of eucalyptus and oak trees about to add a bit of a nice aroma with the wafting breeze. Plus, it's like 80 degrees and perfectly sunny here.
@hawkeyedjb, you aren't done yet. You have to lose to Ohio State, which then has to win out. In that scenario there would be a three-way tie for first in the Big Ten between Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. In that case the Rose Bowl gets the team that is ranked highest among the three in the BCS rankings. That might be Wisconsin, but might turn out to be Ohio State, thanks to the computers (and despite what happened on October 16th in Madison).
Unless MSU loses another game all the other scenarios send Michigan State to the Rose Bowl. If your Iowa team beats Ohio State and wins out then the first tie-breaker is overall record and Iowa would drop out, leaving MSU to go to the Rose Bowl by virtue of beating Wisconsin in head to head play. If Ohio State beats Iowa but subsequently loses (e.g., to Michigan on November 27th) then there's a two-way tie between MSU and Wisconsin, and MSU owns the tie breaker.
And of course Wisconsin has to get past 6-2 Northwestern and a 5-3 Michigan team of Wolverines which may be the most dangerous three-loss team in the country (their game against Illinois next Saturday should determine which is the more dangerous of the two).
Comrade - wait until next year. Adding NE gives it an even number - and a championship game.
As for the Badgers, let's win, this week for starters. Michigan, there, is always a bugaboo for Bucky, as is Northwestern, though our luck is usually worse when it's played in Evanston.
Actually, I'd rather go to the Sugar and play Alabama than play the sloppy seconds of the Pac10. Just sayin'.
And finally, another shout-out to the Badger men's CC team...on a beautiful, beautiful course.

I wouldn't use "smelling" and "berth" in the same headline.
Don't get cocky, kid.
Go Big Red!
Please pardon another going-away interruption.

Isn't there an unwritten law that Notre Dame always ends up as #1?

isn't the Big 10 that conference with 11 teams that don't all play each other or play a championship game?
`
Is this in soon-to-be conservative Governor and Senator Wisconsin?

t-man: I know, right? My first thought was, "Rose Bowl berth? Does that smell anything like after berth?" Eww.

So, the Rose Bowl is the place to be.
Way to jinx it.

Big Ten football is getting interesting!
@Big Mike... Ow. That makes my head hurt. I think I'm just going to drink and let you figure it out. Wake me up if Iowa goes to the Rose Bowl. Ever.
@hawkeye, I really did think this was your year. Sorry, dude.

Would you and Meade go to Pasadena if they pull it out?
Big Mike, you do realize that Michigan lost to my alma mater PSU this past weekend. That is clear proof of Michigan's suckitude.
Don't smell your roses before they're hatched.
