Even if every race goes the way I want, I am dearly hopeful that the victors remember some humility this time around. Stoic with shoulders squared to the task at hand is the way to go. Pretty much in all circumstances at all times.
Many of the professional political pundits who lean left are moaning about the fact that if/when the Repbulicans take control of the House and possibly the Senate, that there will be gridlock.
GOOD!! We don't want them to continue to pass monsterous Frankenstein laws composed of hundreds of unrelated issues cobbled together in the dead of night: bills that no one bothers to read.
Gridlock is GOOD. We want the government to just STOP, take a rest, reflect on what they have done and correct the mistakes.
It is so interesting to watch the contortionists talking heads on CNN first pointing out the usual suspects of racism and weirdo flakes with violent tendencies on the Ultra Right. But than quickly segging into the post election meme that voters still loove Obama but are angry that poor, nice guy Barack innocently allowed that evil old Democrat Congress to write its own hated Bills for ripping off the taxpayers and destroying the Medical Care System in the USA. And that that the much looved Obama need only stand strong against the new Congress to win back his mandate to rule over us.
"Conservatives are poised to make gains. The Republicans are just along for the ride."
Very good point - I'd like to see that on a t-shirt. In fact, it tells the tale of Obama too in 2008 election...Non-Republicans were poised to make gains. Obama and the Dems were just along for the ride.
I dread the day when I won't be able to gaze upon the lovely face of Speaker Pelosi.
Don't worry. She'll be passing non-binding resolutions at least a couple of months after they put her in the ground. A lot of those parts aren't biodegradable.
IMO, the new normal is that the Republicans will not get a honeymoon- the Tea Party and conservatives will be on them from Day One if they try to continue the Big Govt crap of writing more and more laws. We want fewer laws and regulations. Just do that!
"Conservatives are poised to make gains. The Republicans are just along for the ride."
Exactly what I wrote to my Republican congressman after I voted last month. He got my vote on sufferance. If he doesn't think things have changed for the SOP, he's not getting my vote next time around. In fact, he's going to be facing a real conservative opponent, not just a donkey.
DBQ: I have long believed that we should compensate congress by the laws they repeal. I would propose we pay every member of congress and the senate a bonus of $25000 per law they vote to rescind that is taken off the books. This would be cheap at thrice the price. At some point this process would get harder because there are lots of laws we do in fact need. But we would also have a bonus for gridlock. Maybe an extra hundred grand per session in which no new laws are passed. Just a thought.
We should declare a day of mourning for America's Politico. How the mighty have fallen. But he can always sign on as a Karl Rove stringer getting the slander out against Palin everyday.
Unfortunately for the GOP, the opinion polls are wrong. The vast majority of tomorrow's Dem voters cannot be polled, since they don't actually exist. But Team Obama knows how to find them, and AG Holder will make sure their voices are heard.
I have long believed that we should compensate congress by the laws they repeal.
Congress and the State Legistlatures never seem to repeal or reverse, instead they always just pile more and more on top of the heap.
There are so many obsolete laws on the books. Laws that contradict each other. Laws that just make no sense and should be repealed.
Instead of analyising governmental agencies to see if they still make sense, if they are redundant or if they are over funded.....Congress just adds more.
When have they ever rolled BACK spending or eliminated an agency?
If the Republicans get in and continue with 'business as usual' they will be making a HUGE mistake.
Congress should take this opportunity to prune back the laws and prune back government spending and eliminate agencies.
They can start with the Department of Education and return State and local control of the public education system.
"voters don't want to be governed from the left, the right, or even the center. They want someone in Washington who understands that the American people want to govern themselves."
Then of course all the Libertarian candidates will win. This will be historic.
Any ideas on who is behind the "America's politico" trolling brand? It is really pretty entertaining trolling. The "I just got off the phone with other Democratic pollsters and Republicans are going to get blind sided like Brett Farve" post last night was comedy gold. Rarely is trolling done well. And this is pretty good. And very funny. Sadly, it is probably a pretty good indication of what people like Morty Montaign are actually thinking.
It'll be great if it happens. Even better when we retire the big O in 2012 and get Palin into the White House. they hated Bush. Imagine the left with Palin in the Oval Office. That in itself will be worth the wait.

Good.
I don't hold out much hope that the Republicans will be much better, but maybe divided government will stop the spending and "reforms."
Hope the Republicans take the House and Senate.
I'll wait to see whether the Republicans actually attempt to cut spending and reduce the size of the government.
Jury's out on that.
November 2, 2010.
The REAL "rally to restore sanity."

Given recent history? I doubt it. But yes, the jury will be out. For approximately two years.
When will the first person announce that they're running for President? I'll say just after Christmas this year.

GOP is poised to win nothing! I Declare it.
All is well, from my high-paying poling job with Democratic Party I can tell you this...
GOP is dead, Pelosi and Reid triumphs....
"Republicans Appear Poised to Win Big on Tuesday"
And it's all Barry's fault. Well, with the help of Nancy and Harry.
I'm lovin' the new hope and change though.
This is nothing short of a national tragedy.
Hubris, meet Nemesis.
"Don't get cocky, kid."

Don't get cocky. Instapundit told us so!

Conservatives are poised to make gains. The Republicans are just along for the ride.
The winning team quickly becomes the target. Ask the Phillies and the Yankees how that feels.

STOP spending. STOP micro managing our lives. STOP crushing business. JUST STOP.

I can't believe this is happening. My God what is to become of the children.....

wv- ragicia = sounds like a tasty Italian food

Oh, you'll still be able to find her scuttling about underneath the streets of Paris, occasionally banging away at her giant pipe organ.

Can a mandate ever be "won back"? Once you loose a mandate, don't you need a whole new one?

I don't think there has been a bigger threat to the Republic since the destruction of Alderaan.
As Joe noted, this is the Tea Party's win.

Pelosi Galore isn't from Gay Paree. She'll go back to her old gig, rolling drunks on the Barbary Coast.

On my way out, please pardon my gentle reminder.
Hear me now, believe me tomorrow night.
House: 224 for Democrats.
Senate: 54 for Democrats.
N.B.: Reid, Feingold, and Alexi will win.
Also, I am already on the email list to help in 2012 re-election of the greatest and best President and VP team we have had since JFK.

Man up and stick around until the results are in tomorrow night.

Well... at least he's apologizing whenever he breaks wind publicly, now. That's something, at any rate.

I'm thinking America's Politico is really Titus.
Titus uses lousy grammar. AP uses gooder grammar.

I don't know. Maybe, but I'll believe it when I see it.
trooper york has done a fantastic job satirizing with "America's Politco". Good job bro.
"Republicans Appear Poised to Win Big on Tuesday."
And of course we already know what Wednesday's headline in the New York Times will be--"Republicans Do Worse Than Expected"
America's Politico, if you're sure about those numbers, $6 will get you $100 on intrade right now.
If the government could just back off enough that we don't have to think about it all the time, that would be great.
Also, NanoWriMo is this month, and having politics off the mental plate will be most excellent.
"Conservatives are poised to make gains. The Republicans are just along for the ride."
Boehner isn't "along for the ride." He gets to sit in the driver's seat.
