"[T]he One Nation Working Together rally in Washington DC has gathered more supporters than Glenn Beck's much ballyhooed rally, which I will lovingly refer to as 'Whitestock.'"
Oh? I thought Whitestock was Obama's rally last Tuesday here in Madison.

Really? More than Beck's rally? Compare and contrast:

Shouldn't that be "The One Nation Working For Us"?
Delusional.
And heres an animated .gif comparing the crowd size.

And before you start screaming that this was taken as the One Nation rally was breaking up or afterwards, look at the trees on the south side of the Mall. The shadows are pointing straight north, meaning that the Sun is at it's highest point. This would mean the time is around noon, the high water mark of the rally.
So, is this the best that the progressive/union/communist/socialist/marxist coalition can come up with?
Why do these sorts of people consider racism acceptable?
Whitestock? Really?
And if we accept that racist construct, that Beck's rally was "white" and this pro-Democrat rally was "non-white", what about the uncomfortable implication that a rally supporting government largess and socialism attracts mostly "non-whites"?
Revolting.
And of course, the "Crooks and Liars" (aptly named) decide to have another "my dick (rally) is bigger than your dick (rally)" contest.
The Demos should be really shaking now.
The unions, bought and paid for, could barely bus in enough stooges to cover the front of the Lincoln memorial and one side of the reflecting pool on the narrow side of the trees?
Maybe Morris is right about the real number of seats in play.

The commies can't even destroy Meg Whitman with character assassination. Best they can muster is Christine O'Donnell and even that may be going stiff.
From the AP ((Associated Press, not American Politico):
Organizers claimed they had as many participants as Beck's rally. But Saturday's crowds were less dense and didn't reach as far to the edges as they did during Beck's rally
I mean, if they've lost the AP, who is left? That is, who remains?
(The Crypto Jew)
So lots of white are bad (Beck)...unless they aren't (U-Madison). It's all very clear now.
Interesting claim, more at Ed Schulz's rally than Beck's...even if the evidence doesn't support it. Of course, as someone else has already said, it is at "Crooks and Liars."
Let me beat America's Pundit: The Rally on the Mall demonstrates that the Democrats WILL retain control of Congress in 2010...and 2012, when the Obama "wave" sweeps Obama, Reid, and Pelosi back into power, yet once again. The GOP stands NO chance until 2016, unless Chelsea Clinton can run in 2016, in which case I would expect the GOP to have a tough electoral fight. YES, Chelsea CAN run in 2016...GOP is doomed.
I was so impressed with the rally. The rally reinforced my belief that GOP and Tea Party are going to be thrashed across the nation. They have no hope till 2016 election. My suggestion: Just give up. Save your money. Save your energy. More importantly, it is a lot braver to give up than to fight a losing cause. Obama/Biden will create a total wipe-out in 2012. This Nov. the House and Senate will remain with Pelosi and Reid.
What these people (socialists) are doing to themselves reminds me of when my dog drops a deuce and accidently steps his back foot into it afterward. Never interrupt your opponents when they're busy defeating themselves.
American Politico: I think that the One Nation group is really going to do some trashing. Already has;]

Really? Because estimates from people who where there (e.g., here) say that Beck's rally was "6 to 8 times larger." The AP agrees the yesterday's rally was smaller (see paragraph 7) but is a bit more mealy-mouthed about it.
Or you can go here to compare the two crowds.
One thing that everybody agrees on is that Beck's crowd picked up after themselves, while yesterday's crowd left behind tons of litter and debris.
duelling rallies are such trivial exercises; and, the pundits and press are already starting the "expectations" game.
The only crowds that will count will be the ones at the polls on election day.
counting crowds is an exercise in futility; counting votes is the only thing that counts
The unions, bought and paid for, could barely bus in enough stooges ...
Stoogestock.
"One thing that everybody agrees on is that Beck's crowd picked up after themselves, while yesterday's crowd left behind tons of litter and debris."
Of course they did. They were at a pro-Democrat/Socialist/Statist rally! There are government workers to clean up people's messes! More messes! MORE GOVERNMENT JOBS!
Another thing that’s missing as far as crowd estimates is the fact that it was a gorgeous fall day, and there would have been thousands and thousands of tourists there, especially over at the Vietnam memorial (to the right of the Reflecting Pool up towards the Lincoln Memorial.), and these folks would not let a podunk rally like this get in their way and spoil the day.
@Roger J.: True, but it's so fun to watch the Regressives beclown themselves with their own propaganda!
@Lemondog: Stoogestock! Perfect!
The only crowds that will count will be the ones at the polls on election day.
You wish. The election day crowds will be dwarfed by the recount day crowds of Imaginary-Americans emerging from the ballot boxes in the Dem's car trunks.
A tacit admission of a vast left wing conspiracy.
These groups are all connected.
Crooksandliars. Spectacular fail. I could live without links to the likes of them. The comments there are depressing. I couldn't tell at first if it was all irony of the severest sort (look, if this your British humour again, the style is wearing very thin). It inevitably calls to mind the body of friends to whom I said, "Goodbye." Then all that surfaces in review automatically and I cannot stop it. So it's an emotional thing for me.
More happily, I discovered a site through a link deep within the comments at Proteinwisdom that has charmed with its touching truthfulness. It's actually an old well-known place that I originally dismissed out lack of coinciding interest. As you likely already know, Hillbuzz was started to support the Hillary Clinton campaign, then the nature of the site changed over time as events developed. This story of trial and transformation, with the Tyler Clementi suicide as impetus, is characterized by its vivid open vivisection and had over 450 commenters from around the world wiping their eyes, and myself gravely moved. So I read more. Throughout the site I am impressed with the quality of commenters there and the balanced state of mind they show.
Apologies, link corrected.
I love the liberal mindset.
A rally attended by mostly whites is illegitimate if few blacks are in attendance.
Unless it is a 100% white rally of those sons and daughters of pasty-skinned oppressor people who turned out to see Obama.
And of course a nearly 100% black "million man march" is nearly 100% all legitimate in liberal and progressive jews of the media's eyes.
The big problem is with blacks themselves. Other groups, even ones that reliably vote Democrat (Jews) or Republican (Wall Streeters) still proffer their votes and money as "in play" for both Parties to vie over. Blacks by 95% to 5% have elected to exist on a Democrat plantation, vote as unelected head negros or progressive power brokers tell them to. So Democrats can take them for granted, give the top appointments to people they work harder to cultivate. And Republicans give up on getting the black vote.
And liberals can proudly note that blacks refuse to attend jobs rallies or ones to end America's open Borders - making those concerns "illegitimate" because no blacks are there in numbers.Even though blacks are told to stay away by overseers..even though they are the ones being ravaged by job losses and being displaced in farm, city and municipal jobs by illegals or past-amnestied ex-illegals.
the running theme in the comments section of all the left leaning sites is about the stupidity of the people who dont support the socialist orthodoxy. Tea party supports are dumb, they should not be allowed to breed, etc etc. Very sad really that we've arrived at the point where we can no longer discuss political differences of any sort. Thats why i hope the GOP wins if only to see the left go into full seizure mode.
"Whitestock" is a toxic, racist, and anti-American term. But, the writer (who Althouse, natch, doesn't name) is just doing what she's supposed to do.
Meanwhile, the tea party movement is completely powerless against such terms, both intellectually and emotionally. They're loud buffoons who've pushed to the front of the line, claiming they're the opposition to the depredations of the far-left. Yet, they're completely unable to deal with terms like "Whitestock".
The supposed opposition to Obama and the far-left don't know how to do things correctly, they aren't smart enough to understand basic instructions on how to do things correctly, and their emotional limitations prevent them from seeking out or listening to those who do know how to do things correctly. For an example of the latter, expect them to lie and smear instead of trying to engage what little brainpower they have in understanding this comment.
"Preliminary satellite estimates put the crowd size at..." says CrookandLiars. What satellite do they have that the rest us don't?
Satellite estimates -- pffft!
Read the comments at the Crooks and Liars post to which Ann links. Talk about hate-filled. Down right scary.
Chip,
I couldn't make it through the entire essay you linked (I just don't have that kind of time), but I couldn't help but notice they had/have a problem with a commenter over there by the name of Jeremy. I wonder...
I accidentally mistimed the end of my georgetown visit and got stuck in with the mob of green shirt rally folks at the gwu metro stop yesterday. Why do they all have shirts? I'm guessing that's union related (lots of acronyms).
"Preliminary satellite estimates..."
Right. The "final satellite estimates" should be in right about now.
And here's the satellite they used:Crowd Estimate.
I am still waiting to see the satellite photos of the night Nicole Simpson and Ron Brownstein were killed.
edutcher:
"Maybe Morris is right about the real number of seats in play."
I have this sense of counting chickens before they're hatched.
So the One Nation rally was substantially smaller than Beck's, even though the One Nation rally was composed largely of people paid to attend rallies?
Uh oh.
Shouldn't that be "The One Nation Working For Us"?
No, it's more like The Onion Working For Us!
I'm sure Russ Feingold is not feeling the warm & fuzzies about this leftist rally. He's still gonna lose by 10 points. Is 2010/2012 the death knell for American leftism?
America's Politico @2:35pm
Your grasp of sarcasm is truly amazing.
I had the strong impression that at least a couple of the C&L commenters were right-wing mobys, leading the others around by the nose by making absurdly supportive statements.
Either that, or there are some truly delusional people running around loose. (Or hey, could be both.)
One thing that struck me was the widespread use of derisive names for any and all they perceive as enemies. Yeah, right-wingers do it too, but the C&L commenters were unceasing in their namecalling. And they're still calling their opponents "teabaggers" -- even though most of the semi-sane left has realized by now that they won't get many converts to their cause by insulting the people they hope to persuade.
These people should be ashamed of themselves. I haven't seen this level of collective ignorance since Nov. 2, 2008.
Chef Mojo:
Abide!
yeah, apparently the name of the blog "crooks and liars" is truth in advertising.
And you didn't have to pay for people to attend the Beck's rally or threaten their jobs.
Well, okay the people rallying with Beck's jobs are often threatened, but by Obama's idiot policies.
