"I'm not talking to them. They sent me a message. They sent that budget that was out of balance."

NY Governor David Paterson is about to veto 6,900 bills.

ADDED: A song for the occasion:

Do the let him use a rubber stamp and initials? He can't see the line to sign on anyway.

I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.

You are mistaken Synova.

He is Obama without slick handlers. A legacy candidate who floated along without doing anything worthwhile...banging everything that moved...taking everything he could get with both hands. The Idiot Son of Basil Patterson a fixer of the old school he is the accidental governor. His own father was shocked that Spitzer would pick him. He combines all the worst aspects of Obama, Biden and Clinton all rolled into one. Without any redeeming qualities.

The only pity is that Andrew Cuomo is worse.

Ah, leadership!

Generally, I favor this kind over the kind that just bulls ahead with bad laws (the Obama model), but I'd prefer one in which the two political branches communicates with the other, based on principle and not political expedience.

Of course, another approach is suggested by the WV: ouzzi

The sad part is that you see the line, "They sent that budget that was out of balance.", and you think maybe, just maybe, there's a Demo/Lefty who has the slightest contact with reality.

No such luck.

Again proving that it's never too late to do the right thing.

I guess it's left to me to ask the obvious question:

How the f*** is it possible that they sent 6,900 spending bills to him in the first place?

Is every bill only one sentence long? Is that a line item veto thing? It sounds insane.

But, of course, it's still infinitely saner than Nancy & Harry's penchant for 2800-page bills. A bill of that length and complexity, especially one only produced a few hours before the vote, is beyond ridiculous.

I'm against it, too: I'm Against It and so are the Ramones.

As much as I may disagree with Patterson on a whole laundry list of things, he's at least being fundamentally responsible here.

He's playing blind-man's-bluff with the legislature.

So he is like George Bush then....I get it. Thanks for helping out TY.

big help. big.

He is being pissy and vindictive because the Democrat party was putting the squeeze on him.

It really doesn't have much to do with being a responsible governor, and more to do with getting even.

Either way, I like it. They should veto everything until the senators and representatives (state and federal) get their heads out of their asses and start being responsible stewards for their constituants and paying attention to the results of their actions.

Surely he can just highlight them all and then punch the "delete" key

I find this a very intriguing phenomenon. I recall a day when the reference point of Republican evil was Nixon. The name still has some resonance but its just not BUSH

Now Republicans try that same game using the name CARTER I don't know; it doesn't have the same impact as BOOOOOSH!

Is it a time passage issue or what!?

(I'm waiting for someone to say But not as bad a Buchanan! [James, not Pat])

Paterson is no Christie. But he is something like Harry S Truman -- the machine put him there, but he is his own man.

If I lived across the Hudson, I would vote for the man.

re:Patterson

I don't see an attempt to mislead or misinform as credible. His registration is too broadly known. I label this attempt "to misemphasize"
