I already have a tag for it, so how can I resist?

For those who believe in omens, this is a bad sign.
I certainly never thought that he had superhuman qualities, but I can reminisce about the time that I thought that he'd probably be not that bad and we could deal with it?
I'm thinking that was about the time that I thought that I would have found a job by now, given the whole clerkship, summa cum laude J.D thing, and wouldn't be as concerned. About the same time that I figured we'd have recovered economically somewhat, either way, so it'd feel better.

(Sorry, I'm just miserable right now. 1 month left of my clerkship, and I've had one solid actual interview. The whole year. I was seventh in my class. And got a clerkship. And left a good job to go to law school.)
Shit draws flies.
Lyssa--
Do not despair.
Take a job, any job.
If you are as good as you think you are, it will work out over time.
If you're not as good as you think you are, it will probably work out too.
Just keep thinking that you are good.
Times have changed. You probably have not.
Where is Chip? This kind of stuff just begs for his creative juices.
Remember the movie "The Fly"? What grew what on which?
lyssalovelyredhead, I am sorry about your job dilema. Tell me to shut up if I am wrong, but my guess is law is not your absolute dream thing to do. What would you prefer to be doing more than anything?
Then just do it. Even if there is no money in it and you can not pay back your loans. This lack of a job may be a gift. You can join the peace corps, or volunteer for a NGO, or get a minimum wage job in some place you love, or just back pack the world for a year (its doable for about $ 5k if you do it right). You have the rest of your life to be a lawyer, if you wish to be.
If you were seventh in your class you must be very bright and a few years off given these economic conditions will have zero impact on your career years from now.
I might be guessing wrong, but this could be the kind of superhuman fly power Ann was hoping for last election.
Hope noone thinks this is racist.
He's Renfield.
You just knew the enventual deflation of the obama myth was going to be brutal. I almost feel sorry for the poor s.o.b. But as they say, bullshit draws flys.
Fly has something stuck on his foot.
Flies are drawn to corruption. This may also be a sign that "The Lord of the Flies" (a/k/a "The Father of Lies") helps Obama with his speeches.
We should be okay as long as the fly doesn't get into the transmitter pod with him. We don't need two separate genetic patterns getting spliced together, and all that would entail.
"Click on the link and then the tag and scroll to reminisce about the time when Obama seemed to have superhuman power."
Reminiscence is a pleasant recollection of the past. There's nothing pleasant about the memory of Obama being worshiped by deluded voters.
Did Obama have himself cloned and a fly just got into the tank? I knew that had to be an unwise procedure.
Or was this shot just a split second before his sticky tongue shot out and nailed that morsel?
Either way it would confirm my sense that there's something not quite human about that guy.
That's twice now with the flies.
These interview locations need new pest control service contracts.
Michelle did admit that he smells bad in the morning.
"Insect politics"
"You have to leave now, and never come back here. Have you ever heard of insect politics? Neither have I. Insects... don't have politics. They're very... brutal. No compassion, no compromise. We can't trust the insect. I'd like to become the first... insect politician. Y'see, I'd like to, but... I'm afraid, uh..."
"Be afraid...be very afraid. "
Stanley Cavell pondering what is meant by soul:
I do not wish to deny that the frog body is the best picture of the frog soul. Nor do I wish to deny that I can think this frog is a Prince - if, that is, I can think that a Prince has suffered enchantment, or anyway metamorphisis. What am I thinking? Not merely that he has been given a frog's body, fitted into one as it were. He _is_ a frog - anyway he lives as a frog, says what frogs say, loves what frogs love. He has been changed into something _else_. Has he the soul of a frog? I might say he has the consciousness of a frog, though he has the self-consciousness of a Prince. But there are limits. No magic can change a frog into a Prnce - a frog, that is, who had never been a Prince. He can be given a Prince's shape, that is all. He has the self-consciousness of a frog. Then the frog in him will, I imagine, keep trying to get out. There will be moments of embarrassment when he needs to speak, or when suddenly he tucks his legs under himself and leaps from the throne. But these moments can be covered over, either with royal explanations of with judicious applications to the court of mass hallucination or blindness - trivial magic by comparison...

Well, as long as he keeps swatting at the fly and doesn't start dressing like his mother...
They're probably watching me.
Well, let them. Let them see what kind of a person I am. I'm not even going to swat that fly. I hope they are watching... they'll see. They'll see and they'll know, and they'll say, "Why, she wouldn't even harm a fly..."
Oooh, Superfly
You're gonna make your fortune by and by
But if you lose, don't ask no questions why
The only game you know is "Do or Die"
Ah-ha-ha

As a great American peace officer once said, "He was a legend in his own mind".
PS Lyssa, hang in there. It's tough for a lot of people right now and you need to understand that your abilities are not the issue. This is a down job market and it's going to take a bit longer to find a place. Work the job search groups, social networking, ... I'm sure you know more about it than I ever will.
And I know what you mean about interviews. I've had 5 in 2 years.
I can't follow the link.
Correct link.
What struck me is that the AP would even publish that photo. A year ago that little picture would have disappeared down the memory hole called the Photo Editor's Desk.
Obama's going to have a lonely 30 months.
Obamafly. Kind of like Brundelfly.
Lyssa, do not dispair. The market is the absolute pits right now. Even though I'm working. I'm 500 miles away from my family and see them 4 days a month and I have it good compared to our heroes in the military who don't see their families hardly if ever at all until they come back getting in a phone call, letter, or a skype session from time to time. Work is out there, but sometimes you have to go to it, not wait for it to come to you. Good luck to you nonetheless, I feel for you.
Is there a tag for Clinton's fly also? AlGore's?
So who's the ambassador to this ambitious insect nation? I want to see heads roll. Freaking animals have no sense of decorum or protocol.
I predict: this will turn out to be the nadir of Obama's public relations and of the view of him among mainstream-media journalists.
I have no real evidence for this, just a feeling. Plus past history: when the consensus of received opinion starts converging on "he's toast", a comeback is in the offing, if only because the media love so much playing contrarian. Anther week or two and we'll start seeing the counternarrative. Another month or two and the "Obama's Comeback" stories will start appearing.
Sorry about the bad link. Fixed now.
"Insect politics" tag added.
jaed, any actual support for your theory in the historical data? Or is this just one of the tropes trotted out when Starship Politician has just lost both shields and warp drive?
I feel the same way as jaed, the obamaphants in the press have not deserted him yet. They are just trying to avoid looking like total plants. They will be pushing the "come back kid" crap and wax poetic how he came back against hillary a million years ago. Its pretty predictable, really
jaed, any actual support for your theory in the historical data?
See up there where I said "I have no evidence for this?" That means I have no evidence.
Thanks guys, and sorry to try to jack the thread with my whining.
Fred, I think you may be thinking that I'm younger than I am (as whiny as my post was, I don't blame you.). I went to law school a little late, but I'm a full fledged adult with a marriage and a mortgage and a biological clock. I actually don't have the time to play around with minimum wage jobs or the peace corps, at least, not without giving up every other thing that I might want out of life. And it would be a pretty shitty thing to do to my husband. Nor does that really appeal to me- while I'd love to have a job reading and commenting on political blogs, I don't know anyone paying for that, even minimum wage.
Plus, I like the law. I love the analysis, and the writing, and the policies at play. I just want to find a damn job at it, and am getting a serious case of "but I did everything right" about it. Again, sorry for the bitching; I should have at least saved it for a cafe or something.

jaed is right. We need to be aware of how the much the MSM is driven by narratives, not facts.
Billy Jeff went from Honey, I Shrunk the Presidency to Most Beloved POTUS Evahhh in his second term.
It is a large dead fly. He should have gotten a smaller one.
lyssa, sorry about that. I am sure you will find one. Good luck.
"Billy Jeff went from Honey, I Shrunk the Presidency to Most Beloved POTUS Evahhh in his second term."
The fact that he basically sold out his base in a hard right turn had nothing to do with that, I'm sure.
The traditional press has been getting steadily worse for 20 years, but even now they know better than to totally flip off the consumers they need to sell ads. (Well, most of the press, anyway.) As the public sours on Obama, so will the press.
