About half the faces shown there look like they have constricted pupils. Perhaps Ruth Bayer should arrange a Belladonna shoot for her next book.
(No, no, not shooting Belladonna. It's applied topically. Shooting it would give your photos a whole 'nother aspect.)
I would have been more interesting to have a 'before' photo in order to compare the 'after' photos.

They looked like pretty normal people, but as Freeman noted--a little older than one would expect to see at a nightclub. Maybe the young people in the club didn't take the Amyl Nitrate since they are already attractive.

Amyl nitrite, in common with other alkyl nitrites, is a potent vasodilator, i.e., it expands blood vessels, resulting in lowering of the blood pressure. Alkyl nitrites function as a source of nitric oxide, which signals for relaxation of the involuntary muscles. Physical effects include decrease in blood pressure, headache, flushing of the face, increased heart rate, dizziness, and relaxation of involuntary muscles, especially the blood vessel walls and the anal sphincter.
