CNN is clinging to women readers.

It's so pathetic and obvious. Here's a screen grab of the center of the home page at CNN:

What makes people happy? Engagement... unhappy? Baby sloths enjoy the sweet life... aw... A big fish is in trouble! Miss USA! The lighter side of Elena Kagan! The style of the First Lady! A sitcom! Dancing With the Stars!

Reading CNN to find out the latest about happiness... that's not going to make this woman happy.

I am an Indian guy, and I think that Deepak Chopra guy is one of the stupidest charlatans around, yet, the guy has managed to garner millions of "followers". He is a disgrace to all Indian folks in the US. Dont people realize that he totally fake?

NTTAWWT (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Danny: "He is a disgrace to all Indian folks in the US. Dont people realize that he totally fake?"

Yes, we do.

Interestingly, when I hear him speak I never think of him as an Indian. I think of him as the quintessential American Lib-tard nut job.

Look ... give them a break.

They tried being a news organization and that didn't work out. Viewers rejected their Socialist propoganda and that left them without any eyeballs to sell.

So now they're trying to be the People Magazine of the Web. Let's give them some room to experiment.

Women need stuff to read too and Ivory soap needs to sponsor something on television. I think it's a good fit.

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

I'm supposed to look to Michelle Obama for style lessons?

No.

Rialby ayon kay ...

Deepak is prettier than Elena.

Jason (the commenter) ayon kay ...

Is it clinging to women readers or just throwing anything out there that they think will get eyeballs?

They can't do news so they go with fluff.

rhhardin ayon kay ...

CNN is only after the 40% of women who are soap opera women.

The rest of you are lost anyway, along with the men.

You don't tune in enough, or stay tuned in long enough when you do.

You can't pay the bills.

Soap opera women do.

Anyway it's them or nobody.

Fred4Pres ayon kay ...

I am tempted back by big fish in trouble.

But nahh.

Jason (the commenter) ayon kay ...

That baby sloth clip was adorable! How many of you watched it?

Palladian ayon kay ...

Much fun can be had by switching the labels around...

rhhardin ayon kay ...

MSM news as perceived by men.

Albatross ayon kay ...

I quit paying attention to CNN when I found out they actively suppressed real news stories about Saddam's genocidal atrocities just so they could keep their offices open in Iraq.

Fucking tools.

Jason (the commenter) ayon kay ...

rhhardin, only some men, but you're probably right.

campy ayon kay ...

Bitterly clinging ...

Imagine if you were looking at that rhhardin page and all those women started talking at once.

Beth ayon kay ...

All other things aside, you really should check out the baby sloths. They are double-plus cute.

Beth ayon kay ...

Oh, I see now that Jason (tc) beat me to the sloth thing. Jason, yes, they're adorable. Everyone should have a sloth buddy.

Unknown ayon kay ...

i really dont see a way out of this info-tainment downward spiral. if people wanted actual news, that would be one thing -- but i dont think most people want actual news.

Unknown ayon kay ...

CNN was toast when Jane Fonda started browbeating Ted Turner into doing stuff like The Goodwill games (remember them?) and insisting that the word 'foreign' always be replaced by 'international'.

Newsweek is having the same problem.

They lost me after 9/11 with all of their "this is why they hate you" liberal bullcrap. All of a sudden, I noticed just how liberal and slanted their point of view was. I switched to Fox News and never looked back. They may also have a slant, but at least their on our side.

WV: Woods. Really. I know that's a different thread today, but still kind of eerie.

Palladian ayon kay ...

"They may also have a slant, but at least their on our side."

Television people are not on your side. They're on they're side.

I could never understand how anyone could watch television news, whatever the slant. It's much faster to read it somewhere. Then you can skip the 98 percent of it that isn't important.

Danny,

I agree - and wonder why the powers that be don't drum him out of the public sphere. It's like they like fraud - and frauds - because they'll attack anyone who says otherwise, allowing folks like Deepak to carry on with the swindle.

That tendency is the issue of our times.

That's why I don't buy their claims to compassion - they've got none - if they did, they'd prove it where it's needed.

They're too busy looking for imaginary racists, racists, everywhere.

Wait a minute! Where are the images of the woman who earns big money working at home, and the woman who whitens her own teeth?

Americans love charlatans, especially Americans who grew up without religious beliefs. People are irrational as much as they are rational, and we want to believe in magic.

Deepak Chopra is simply the Indian Andrew Weil. The question is why do they end up on "public" television.

Does anyone remember Covert Bailey? Fit or Fat?

Ditto. Getting off TV news was liberating.

I want to be able to absorb information at my pace and be able to cross reference and fact check. TV news just doesn't cut it, even in website form.

People could learn a lot from Beth.

Penny ayon kay ...

CNN may be clinging to women readers, but HuffPo? haha

They're blowing smoke into vaginas over there.

Surprised that they haven't set up an annual million dollar shoe lottery, to reinforce what women "really love".

Poor CNN.:( Still pretending to post news.

Penny ayon kay ...

Has anyone noticed that the mouth of the "News River" is the Associated Press?

Are they too humble to start their own website?

Perhaps they feel that might be premature?

It must at least be TOTALLY clear that they work for 'free' over there at the AP.

Wow, we honor you for that AP. We owe so much to so few who water so many for free.

Right?

We DO honor those who give for free?

Penny ayon kay ...

"We do honor those who give for free? Right?"

Uh oh. Maybe not?

THE SLOTH

In moving-slow he has no Peer.
You ask him something in his Ear,
He thinks about it for a Year;

And, then, before he says a Word
There, upside down (unlike a Bird),
He will assume that you have Heard -

A most Ex-as-per-at-ing Lug.
But should you call his manner Smug,
He'll sigh and give his Branch a Hug;

Then off again to Sleep he goes,
Still swaying gently by his Toes,
And you just know he knows he knows.
