Obama's press conference.

Just an item from a list of things that don't happen.

"Those Israelis. Real bastards, huh?"

I'd like to ask him if, as an employer, I'm really going to see my health insurance premiums "fall 3000%" like he told that crowd in Ohio the other day.

Seriously. That's what he said. Here's the damned quote, Garage:

"Well, a lot of those folks, your employer it's estimated would see premiums fall by as much as 3,000 percent [sic], which means they could give you a raise."- President Obama in Strongville Ohio, March 15

But that Sarah Palin sure is dumb. We really dodged a bullet not electing that dumb ass.

Pastafarian म्हणाले...

So I guess if I currently pay $6,000 per year for an employee's premium, now I'll receive a credit $174,000 from the insurance company.

Thanks, Easter Bunny!

I wonder if that money is taxable. Jesus, I'm going to be a kajillionaire.

Methadras म्हणाले...

Garage constantly and consistently is on his knees with his mouth open waiting for his little black jesus to insert his unit into his mouth to pacify him with his wonderful panacea of policies. Garage keeps telling himself that it still goes down smooth. Sort of like watching President Barely's press conferences.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Brett Baer spooked him by asking that a question be answered. He gives lectures only.

wombat म्हणाले...

Why should the O do more press conferences when there are twisted versions of what he really means?

Such as, a while back ago, he said recovery was only months away, but would "take patience."

Bad transcription. He meant patients. Lots and lots of patients.

David म्हणाले...

Wait until they Ram-Ram-Ram the health care bill through (or it loses.) Then he will come out.

The bill will pass. Then, and only then, will he become transparent. (Meaning we will be able to see right through him.)

A president has a one-on-one interview covering one issue and the reporter is supposed to kiss his ass??

The president mentioned an earthquake in Hawaii?? And we shouldn't wonder and ask wtf he was talking about?

Obama and the Democrats figured they had a mandate in 2008. They didn't. If they had told the people exactly what they wanted to do and then won, yes, I would say they had a mandate. They didn't do that. Obama was so vague during the campaign, he actually sounded like a fiscal conservative sometimes. My votes in the future are going to people who tell me exactly where they stand on the issues. If they don't tell me straight, then they are hiding something.

JAL म्हणाले...

Glad you figured it out steve.

Hope we have an election where it matters again.

The next time garage/Jeremy/Montagne start talking about the CBO projections (a real estimate will appear after the vote, one assumes), the cost of RomneyCare, projected against real, will be a fitting rebuttal. From what I can see, it's costing about double what it was supposed to be.

I'm with you, but that never happens, which makes me think this whole "democracy" thing is not what it's cracked up to be. We vote for the sociopath who lies the most convincingly, it seems. And the media serve as cheerleaders for the guy on the Left.

Bush, whom I voted for in 2000, spoke very clearly about the futility of nation building. Unfortunately, he then went on to dedicate an awful lot of our finances to that there nation building.

Joe म्हणाले...

"Pass the bill to see what's in it" should be Obama's new slogan.

(And before all you idiot liberals whine about how Bush did this, that or the other thing, it was OBAMA who made repeated promises about being open and posting bills online for sufficient time to read them. How's that gays in the military thing going?)

Michael McNeil म्हणाले...

(I voted for Gore, I'm chagrined to say.) In my view Bush believed that at the time — but then this little thing called “911” happened, when 3,000 innocent office workers got immolated alive and the heart of America's largest city burned out due to our up and abandoning Afghanistan the instant we won a great victory there against the Soviets a decade before — and Bush decided that maybe some nation building had to be done regardless of how he had felt before. I agree. And we see the fruits of that in Iraq, which seems to be turning into a decent place now, whereas otherwise if we had up and abandoned it after kicking out Saddam, it almost certainly would still be a hellhole ruled by monstrous Baathists and/or Al Qaeda.

Paul Kirchner म्हणाले...

Michael McNeil said...then this little thing called “911” happened

Which, as you know, had nothing to do with Iraq.

We'll see how the nation building thing worked out when and if we are ever able to withdraw our troops.

Sorry, much as I deplore the current administration, I'm not forgiving the previous one for the mess it made.

Fen म्हणाले...

Brett Baer kicked Obama's ass.

How do you like them apples, Libtards?

Fen म्हणाले...

Michael: then this little thing called “911” happened

Paul: Which, as you know, had nothing to do with Iraq.

Parody? 9-11 had everything to do with Iraq: it taught us that we could not afford to let rogue nations that sponsored terror ops develop WMDs.

Consider: a tree limb falls on your house. You clear the remains and discover that, not only is the tree infected with disease, but so are a few other trees near your house. You move to cut those trees down too, but your ignorant neighbor complains "those trees had nothing to do with the damage done to your house!"

Thats how stupid Libtards look when they claim we should have stayed out of Iraq because it had noting to do with 9-11.

Mr. Forward म्हणाले...

Brilliant analogy Fen, hope you don't mind if I steal it and use it to irritate the clueless.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

A better analogy would be that you live near a magic forest, and the diseased trees reappear every night, and you spend the rest of your life cutting down trees.

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

We'll see how the nation building thing worked out when and if we are ever able to withdraw our troops.

What do you mean if we're able to withdraw? Its quite easy as CinC. You give the order to withdraw and the troops come home.

Not seeing the problem here.

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

A better analogy would be that you live near a magic forest, and the diseased trees reappear every night, and you spend the rest of your life cutting down trees.

Then you call up Gandalf and have him cast a counterspell of +5 Remove Disease spell on the trees and all is good.

But I guess your analogy MM is that we just need to accept that Islamofacism is a way of life and we just need to get used to taking our lumps from time to time.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Hoosier, don't put words in my mouth.

A better idea would be to make your house strong enough that falling tree limbs don't damage it.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

It might even be possible to do that with less expense than a lifetime spent cutting down trees.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi म्हणाले...

A better idea would be to make your house strong enough that falling tree limbs don't damage it.

Pretty tough to do when you can't even stop thousands of illegals from walking over the border everyday. Your solution is a fantasy.

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

Hoosier, don't put words in my mouth.

Well sorry but you kinda left it open to interpretation.

Leland म्हणाले...

But Professor, he said the time for talking was over.

Hoosier Daddy म्हणाले...

It might even be possible to do that with less expense than a lifetime spent cutting down trees.

I don't disagree but as Bushman correctly points out, we can't even prevent 10-15 million illegals from coming in (well we could if national security would trump accusations of racism).

Sloanasaurus म्हणाले...

Maybe Obama should explain why he is so much in favor of taxes, spending, and debt? I knew the democrats were the party of taxes and spending. They have denied this charge, but they have proved it to everyone in the last year...except Democrats have added debt to their list. They are the party of spending taxes and endless debt.

It is going to be a massive wipe- out this fall.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

A scientist like MM would probably agree that the world contains more WMD than magic forests. So, I recommend you work on that analogy.

Michael McNeil म्हणाले...

Paul: As far as I'm concerned our troops can stay in Iraq forever. Why not? Casualties for many months now have dropped to levels below any (earlier) time since the 2003 invasion. Let them stay there and help stabilize the place, just as they have stayed (and still remain) in Germany and Japan since WWII.

MadisonMan: Your analogy about cutting down diseased trees reminds me of a PBS program about the Panama Canal, which pointed out that the channels there still do not approach the engineering ideal of the stable “angle of repose,” thus landslides occur there with regularity — after one such, the assistant to the administrator demanded, “What do we do now?” — whereupon his boss replied: “Dig it out again!” And you know, those responsible have been digging out and re-digging out the Panama Canal ever since — Oh, boo hoo! What a quagmire! Life's a bitch, ain't it!

Michael McNeil म्हणाले...

A better idea would be to make your house strong enough that falling tree limbs don't damage it.

As someone once pointed out, no “Department of Defense” taken literally has ever won a war. Beyond that, I suspect that you are not one of the supporters of an effective missile defense system — and even if there were such, it's hard (and self-defeating) trying to keep all ships and freighters out of our ports, much less submarines. Anybody want to see a nuke in New York Harbor?

Steven म्हणाले...

Michael McNeil: you probably get this a lot, but you look an awful lot like Ben Bernanke.

Michael McNeil म्हणाले...

MadisonMan: A mere “suspicion” is hardly “foolishly rash” — and even if mistaken, my other points dominate.

Steve: LOL! No, never heard that before, actually. Seeing Bernanke's photo, I can see where you're coming from — but maybe it's just that mysterious smile….

rhhardin म्हणाले...

The time for debate is over.

Fen म्हणाले...

A better idea would be to make your house strong enough that falling tree limbs don't damage it.

Ah yes, the concept of static defenses and the assumption that you can be strong at all places at all times.

History says you're an idiot, MM.

Fen म्हणाले...

Mr Foward: Fen, hope you don't mind if I steal it and use it to irritate the clueless.

Steal away, adjust as you need for your style and audience.
