According to family legend, my g-g-grandmother's brother went to Paris to study medicine in the 1820's and got an introduction to Lafayette on the strength of his last name, Washington (5th cousin of George). My late uncle had silhouettes of both of them that had been made by David and a stockpin with a miniature of George that Laf. had given him.; 2/14/10, 2:41 PM

Is there a Carnegie library in town? Seems we have very little of substance that lasts generations. Maybe we can find it in these smaller communities.

Ralph L said...: The Battle of Tippecanoe was fought near the town in 1811 against Tecumseh's Indian confederation. It's curious that he gets a head but not Harrison.

I'm guessing the building dates to before WWI, when farm income reached a peak in the US. Very well done, especially for a not very big county.
