"This is a sacred place."

Spoken by a musician in a concert. Where was he?

ADDED: Guess first, but as the answer now appears in the comments, I'll link to my source of the quote.

Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Who? Lots of people, though probably not the one Althouse has in mind.

I am with Brian. Lots of ancient hillbilly dust at the Ryman.

Although I did see Yes at Redrocks and Jon said something about the rocks looking like an organic cathedral from the center of the earth.

I too could dig the Lubbock, Texas offering.

Perhaps at the Windmill Museum?

I'm not kidding.

I'd go with Ryman also. But what about that rooftop where The Beatles played their last live performance?

I'm torn between Covent Garden and La Scala.

Gotta say La Scala.

How about a concert in the "holiest of holies"?

During the 2004 Quartfestival [Norway], a couple, who were both members of Fuck For Forest, had sex on stage during a concert with The Cumshots, a band fronted by Schau. This led to a lawsuit against Schau, the other band members and the couple who performed the sex stunt. Schau and his bandmate Ole Petter Andreassen were both fined 10 000 NOK for their roles in the stunt.

Worst acoustics on the face of the earth has got to be the San Diego Sport Arena. It's a concrete sound coffin.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!

Shit, just yesterday I was gonna change my blog's subtitle to "There's no such thing as 'sacred music'", but there's also no such thing as sacred places, even if a musician says otherwise.

Personally, I like my current subtitle a lot. Maybe too much, because I'm having a really hard time changing it now. I wish I had said it.

Your boy has pretty happening taste in music. In a just world, the remarkably gifted Douglas would be huge.

Isaac Stern said that about Carnegie Hall in the movie Music of the Heart. In his defense somebody might have written the line for him.
