I saw Dr. Alton Brown recommend the same thing on his show Good Eats. (I gave him the honorary doctorate as a token of my esteem.) I have yet to try this even though I love popcorn, as I typically salt mine and salty, buttery tasting popcorn cereal sounds rank.
I tried it once based on Alton Brown's (props to Trey for the honorary doctrate) advice, but thought that maybe I misunderstood how he did it (it was several weeks after watching the episode, when I happened to have some extra popcorn), because mine just wound up soggy and gross, with no flavor except from the sugar I added in an effort to make it palatable.
I imagine that if I ever tried this, my results would be similar to Tyrone's, and I'd end up with a gross, soggy mess.
EDH: Smartfood and Mountain Dew were my standard sources of energy when I pulled all-nighters in college. I don't know if eating it at 3 in the morning counted as breakfast or what; in my case, it couldn't have been a "bender," as there was no alcohol involved.
wv: guastor--a special concoction containing castor oil meant to give gusto to the members of the 65+ set who don't care to eat proonv.

Want a challenge? Don't pop it first.

I need to save some without salt to try though.

Me? I'm sticking with kittens.
wv: proonv - breakfast cereal for the 65+ set
Sounds like corn pops, with less sugar. And also gross.
You've never heard of this? I'm surprised that this is a new idea to people.
Really.
Rare now, I know I'm officially on a "bender" when I eat Smartfood or Doritos -- two corn products -- for breakfast.
Yippee! Finally I get to use my popcorn maker which I got as a housewarming present (still boxed, alongside the fondue maker).
Cheers,
Victoria

I invented this when I was a little kid. I judged it a failure when it instantly turned into flaccid mush.
That's my favorite breakfast recipe. I substitute beer for milk in order to maintain a low cholesterol level in my diet.
Michael, that is indeed a breakfast of champions.
Merry Christmas!

My (depression-era) grandmother has done this for decades.
