If the world of nations cannot agree what to do ,or if to do, about Iran, how can they agree on an issue that is a complete fabrication? The pictures are remarkably similar to those from Chicago in 1968 at the Democratic national Convention for those of us old enough to remember (just barely)
Living out a propaganda induced hallucination is seldom peaceful. The communists are rioting over their weapon of a False Global Warming World Ending Crisis being ignored. Their leader from the USA may need fly in to give them back their hope for eliminating the system of private property ownership and replacing it with a Marxist Dictatorship by a Coup D'Etat of monumental proportions run out of the UN.
An evil thought entered my head-- that the Chaos in Copenhagen (sounds like a boxing match) is a setup for Teh One. If he does now come in and "set things straight" it will be a big win for him and the warmists. I don't think its gonna happen, but I'll worry about it anyway.
I think you're in the ballpark Synova. For the extremist, extremism is the point. No matter what the issue, they are unhappy and it is an unfortunate character trait of humanity that the less they have to complain about, the more loudly they complain.
Just as in America's periodic revivalist times, where the more pious the crowd, the more fiery the accusations of sin, in the world of activism, the less the protester has to protest, the more loudly he will cry out.
"Shame! Shame! Let me show how very much I care by breaking something!"
If you want to skip the article, my summary is that the Ruskies are claiming that a lot of their GC (Global Cooling) data has been dropped from the AGW databases.
I went to anti-war protests during the Vietnam War to meet girls. I assume many of the people around me had more elevated motivations, like scoring weed.
I always recoil when I read that the US is pledging x-billion for rain forests or to address some other issue in another country. Why don't we just tell these other countries to borrow whatever they need from the Chinese, like we do?
I still hear liberals argue for vast new social spending programs with the declaration: "It's unconscionable that a rich country like ours doesn't . . . "
Are these people still living in 1962 America? How can a country that's trillions of dollars in debt be rich?
Paul: More importantly, what's unconscionable about it? Giving of one's wealth, no matter how rich one is, is not something that can be measured as a percentage of that wealth. Expecting people to give on that basis strikes me as unconscionable.
WV: renteman. Singular of the folks asking for our money: rent-seekers! How appropriate. F
So is the president going to copenhagen to bring order out of chaos? will his presence have the same impact there as it did on the olympic committee? I suspect his spinners are at work even as this thread proceeds to figure out how to rationalize his presence at copenhagen--

What really jumps out at me is that the same protesters are out there breaking windows at an event that they supposedly support.
Which makes a person wonder if it's about the cause, or if it's just fun to break windows.

I dunno, Ty. It sounds like things ain't going too well for the bad guys anywhere these days.
Protesting is the means to its own end. There's as much external purpose in protesting as in medieval flagellation.
Of course the flagellants thought they were purifying the world.
The junket's president resigned over the chaos.
Nothing to see here.. move along.

The Russians jump in as spoilers today: Climategate goes SERIAL: now the Russians confirm that UK climate scientists manipulated data to exaggerate global warming.

Bruce, thanks for posting that link.
Personally I'm enjoying watching all this unravel.
Folks have forgotten the old fruit keys: Environmentalists are like:
--tomatoes: they start out green but end up red; and
--watermelons: they are green on the outside but red on the inside.
Even AlphaLiberal has to be quivering like a frightened girl at the thought that he was duped by his scientific men-crushes.

Ya beat me to it.
When the Russians are complaining about cheating, I mean
Yikes.
That word consensus. I don't think it means what it used to mean.
I'd heard at least one rumor put forward that the Russians were behind the email thefts.

I like how the organizers gave away 40,000 tickets for a hall that holds 15,000. With organization like that, what else would you expect?
