That one lone seditious orange tree on Picnic Point is going to give the rest of them ideas. Mark my words, before long you'll see all the trees deciding to change colors and drop their leaves. It must be stopped!

I'm full of good cheer because I just now bought Nikon's monstrous super-wide 14-24mm 2.8 with an outer lens so ridiculously bulbous that it bulges beyond the barrel and cannot be protected nor filtered. Designed for maniacs, it is far from an all-purpose lens. It's also a real babe magnet. It is the, no, it is THE lens that completes a photographer's lens ensemble and over which professional photogs cream themselves. Canon owners use an adaptor to enable the use of this lens.
Although, now I'm torn. Ken Rockwell, whose opinion I value and whose web site has taught me much, now recommends Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 for Nikon DX DSLRs and he gives very convincing argument for it. The thing is, I'm investing for the future -- eventually when I'm good enough I'll want to switch to full format digital which all these lenses fit and that's where a lens like this really shines.
We visited Olbrich Botanical Gardens in your fair city Sunday, and it was not very Autumnal at all. But that's okay. Some interesting sculptures and fountains and stuff to see in addition to the growing things, too.
MM, Now that you mention it, you are probably correct about the location. I have become somewhat...focused...on a troublemaker on the way out to the point.
I took my eldest to college yesterday. So with my younger already at school, the nest is truly empty. I can tell because when I enter the house from the garage, there's not 8 pair of shoes and flip flops on the rug. As Darius Rucker wood croon, I'm going t miss this
After today’s speech by President Obama, the most recent Rasmussen poll shows that 35.5 percent of our nation’s schoolchildren are experiencing, on average, an improvement in academic performance approaching an astounding 17.3 percent.
This is glad news, indeed!
What is more, all this was foreseen by B. Kliban. This is a true fact which every single skeptical person can prove to his or herself, by reviewing the evidence, posted (lovingly) here.
We watched My Dinner with Andre. I know someone so much like Andre that it was distracting. He would tell this story. He would tell it just like that... I've made that exact fact in response to him!
Early fall, sometimes means early winter. Hopefully, we will have an early spring. I sense a cold, hard winter ahead. Colder than normal.
Another year passes in my life. In two months, I'll be 63 years of age. Times goes faster when you're older. The winters are colder.
I plow my driveway with a Farmall Model H tracter. I've been plowing my driveway since 1973 with this tractor. It seems to be a lot colder when I plow, than when I was a young man.
Leave it to International Harvester to call their tractors "tracters." Ev'ryone knows Minneapolis Moline can out perform a Farmall any day...not to mention Minneapolis Molines were, for a long while, union-free made.
Kidding aside Allen, glad to read that ol' Farmall H is still pluggin' away...like its owner.
KFWB bailed out of competing with all-news KNX in favor of new-stalk. But apparently Dr. Laura's ratings have slipped at the more stimulation talk radio station. So it's win-win for both KFI and KFWB
I'm conservative, but she sucks the oxygen out of my car, then makes me feel bad about not expecting it. I just lower my head like a beaten dog and slyly change the channel. Beside I'm happily unmarried, so I know she wants me dead.

Bring on the Fall!
Upon re-reading my comment, that sounds downright Biblical.

No more swimmin' in the ol' swimmin' hole,
The leaves are acomin' down;
No more runnin' through the grass barefoot,
It's time for shoes an' town.
Andrew Wyeth Chistina's Dog.
Yes, it looks like an early Fall in Ohio, as well.
Madame, I am in awe of your ability to capture these little vignettes. My attempts always look like, well, leaves and grass.
Triangle Man, that looks more like Hoyt Park then Picnic Point to me.
That forest scene has caused me to create a related pop-up card.

THIS sounds like a job for . . .
Nonsense Rhyme Cheerleader Man!!!
(a copyrighted feature of this blog):
Early fall, melon ball, feel the cool night breeze
Spots of light, left or right, mingle with the trees.
Gooooooooooooo TEAM!
Throw out everything after Early fall, melon ball, and begin again. The rest is not nearly nonsensical enough.

MM,
Now that you mention it, you are probably correct about the location. I have become somewhat...focused...on a troublemaker on the way out to the point.
Sorry about that ricpic.
Sometimes I catch up to myself coming back around the other way.
It’s embarrassing.
THIS is good. You've gotta watch this....there are 4 episodes, but start at the beginning. I wouldn't lie---you will not regret watching this:

$1,868 dollars for a lens??? Obviously, you are not putting kids through college.
Your birdhouse pictures, especailly the last one, are awesome. I may try that myself using your instructions, but I tend to follow visual keys very poorly.

Triangle Man, that looks more like Hoyt Park then Picnic Point to me.
Oh, come on! It's a dirt path, for crying out loud.
Besides, it's obviously the Arboretum.
I have nothing to say.
wv ; plenett
I was thinking it was paved, but I guess it is dirt, on closer inspection. Dust, actually, given the recent lack of rainfall.
Maybe it's the woods between the bike path, the cemetery and Glenway Golf Course.
Two things that I find interesting today:
Texas executed a man who, apparently, was actually innocent. (link). If it's actually true, how does the state right that wrong?
Annie Lebovitz is about to lose the rights to her own photographs. (link). I don't feel any sympathy for her.
It's in the arboretum.

wv ingsms, I don't even wat to speculate

Everybody runs the risk of taking one for the team.
No whining.

Now don’t that beat all?
Madison: "Annie Lebovitz is about to lose the rights to her own photographs. (link). I don't feel any sympathy for her."
Because she's such a terrible person?
Bad with money?
Don't like successful people?
Just plain jealousy?
*She'll do a bankruptcy and come out of it fine anyway.

Los Angeles KFI AM 640 dropped Dr. Laura (expanding John and Ken an hour in particular).
A little exploration finds Dr. Laura has moved up the dial to KFWB, whose program schedule reads
KFWB NEWS TALK 980 LINE-UP
12pm–3pm Dr. Laura
3pm–6pm Dr. Laura
6pm–9pm Dr. Laura
9pm-12am Dr. Laura
12am-3am Dr. Laura
3am-6am Dr. Laura
You can't have too much Dr. Laura. I love that broad.

Does she still say I'm my kids mom?
That kid has to be out of the house by now.
"Honey, it's your own fault...."
Oh dear, Maxine is giving Jane Fonda an earful on Twitter:

I watched the 30-second version with bunnies. Did I miss anything?
Long time commenter Ron is in the hospital with Legionnaire's Disease and related problems. Yikes!
Best wishes and prayers headed Ron's way.
Ahi, caso acerbo.
Best wishes going ron's way.
It's been a while since he commented as I recall. How long's he been sick?
