Doyle won't run for reelection.

So who should be the next governor of Wisconsin?

A random cheesehead from Packers season ticket-holder list.

Or Meade.

Althouse for governor. I don't think Meade meets the residency requirement yet.

Sagging poll numbers may be a factor in his decision. A survey conducted June 8-10 by Daily Kos / Research 2000 found that 43% approved of Doyle and 48% disapproved.

I trust those guys to play the questions straight down the middle :)

Althouse would not have the patience to deal with such lethargic bureaucracies. She'd end up killing a dozen or so of the longtime turds. A governor can do that right?

Rod Blagojevich. He is a soon-to-be Wisconsin citizen living in Oxford Wis.

What's the residency requirement?

Because Sarah Palin would be kick-ass!

One of those sausages that race around Miller Park in the middle of the sixth inning. Brett Wurst would probably be the most electable candidate but Paco the Chorizo might be the tastiest. It would be a tough call.

WV - undles = A bundle of undies.

I'd vote for Althouse

Not Kathleen Falk.

I like that there is no incumbent -- incumbents make races decidedly uninteresting. I give Doyle props for sticking to his job in the middle of dreadful economic times for State Government. I'm sure it would be far easier just to ditch the job and go camping with Jessica.

As a Milwaukee resident, let me just say that Scott Walker is a very appealing candidate.

I'd vote for Tom Barrett, too, once he's out of the hospital. (He's a friend of my brother-in-law)

Scott Walker, for sure.

Barrett's proven ability to take a whack in the head in pursuit of a worthy cause is certainly among his more attractive qualifications. His attraction to light rail boondoggles is rather unfortunate, however.

There's a residency requirement?

If drafted, I will not run; if nominated, I will not accept; if elected, I will not serve.

Walker would be the sane choice. I guess that pretty much rules him out.

WV: uneud - Doyle has been an uneuding nightmare to those not on the public dole. Good riddance.

Mike Grebe should be the next governor, but he probably won't be.

Cool beans! Doyle was the barrier standing between citizens and concealed reform. The legislature just barely failed to override his veto. All primary candidates should pass based on whether they support concealed carry reform.

He looks like Beaker from the Muppets.

Willem Dafoe. Tyne Daly. Eric Heiden. Charlotte Rae. Gena Rowlands. The cast of "That 70s Show."

Celebrity governors: it's not just for MinnesOta any more.

WV: eprouns: (plural noun): web-based audio pronunciations of words

(I kept wondering what the big deal was about West Virginia, until duh...it referred to the snigletification of word verfications. Duh me.

Bo Ryan -
After the years he has spent at UW-Madison, he's got to be looking for that next step up.

Professor Althouse would have my vote, if I actually lived in Wisconsin.

Palin does NOT have a Wisconsin accent. Minnysohta through and through.

I don't think Wisconsin voters will elect someone who sounds like they're from Minnesota.

Why no ground swell for Brett Farve? He may, or may not be working this year. All that executive experience playing quarterback should help him. And he already knows all the Green Bay voters.

Hmm. Ann's post reads like a lead question to me.

No, Ann, I don't think you want to run for governor. But I do think you like people writing that you should be governor.

And why not? It's flattering. But you should hold out for something like empress...or judge on 'American Idol' or something.

Tammy Baldwin or Lauren Azar.

You got that right!

If Farve plays for the Vikings he wouldn't be elected dog catcher in this state.

Now, Mark, is that moderate?

Certainly not Barbara Lawton.

She's a lovely lady, but I don't think she's up for the task.
