"I was like, 'I’m going to glue rhinestones on my eyelids, bitch!'"

At long last, Adam Lambert tells his "I'm gay" story.

Here's the cover:

A cute butterfly and a green snake approach Adam's exposed zipper.

Well, that is a total surprise.

Is he now the wise metrosexual whose life experiences will hopefully help he/she to make better decisions than Traditional White Men?

Methadras म्हणाले...

He's gay? Really? I'm stunned, shocked by this revelation. I always thought he was a black man from Camden, NJ.

Whoop dee doo.

I still reserve the right to hate all emo kids (whiny bunch of punks).

Why not crabs?

So the "liberation" is saying out loud what everyone knows and what you know everyone knows and something you've not really hidden.

Rolling Stone Reveals Adam Lambert is Gay; Ladies With Zero Gaydar on Suicide Watch

Adam is "wild"? I don't think so.

elizabeth म्हणाले...

Rolling Stone still exists?
That's about the only interesting news I take from this posting - nothing personal, A.A.! :D

David म्हणाले...

Once again the American public gets it right.

Is he liberated, or is he just being honest? I don't know Idol's rules, but I'm pretty sure one of them isn't, "don't ask, don't tell". That is not to say that much of the press on Adam was not asking and him not telling, while noting that there was questions as if the answer hadn't already been given.

Anyway, he can glue rhinestones on his eyelids if he wants. I'm not sure what it does for him. If I went to his concert (or more likely off Broadway show), it would be because of the talent of his voice, not his fashion sense.

From Blake's link, a quote from the article about rooming with Kris Allen:

“They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100% straight.”

Always enjoyed him but never thought he was that cute...but this cover is great. He looks hot!

Who is Adam Lambert and why should anyone give a rat's ass?

Unknown म्हणाले...

AL, he was an American Idol contestant this year, widely believed to be a shoo-in to win, only to come in second in the final tally. All I know about American Idol I basically learn here at Althouse.

His face looks like latex on that cover photo.

Wince म्हणाले...

Haven't seen a Rolling Stone cover that "gay" since, well, this.

MEMO

TO: Rolling Stone
RE: Adam Lambert

Hey stupid fossils,

Being gay is no longer "edgy" in and of itself.

Bender R म्हणाले...

Why the hell is it any of my business where this guy likes to put it???

And why is it necessary to force his sexuality upon everyone else???

There is a term for imposing your sexuality on someone in this manner -- sexual harassment. Enough with people sticking their sexuality in other people's faces!

Smilin' Jack म्हणाले...

The real "gay" story here is the number of women who find this epicene pansy attractive. They should come out of the closet as the lesbians they obviously are.

Palladian म्हणाले...

"And why is it necessary to force his sexuality upon everyone else???"

He didn't. He hid his sexuality like a coward and now that he is rightfully the big loser, he's suddenly willing to talk about it again.

He still looks like he smells like a cold ashtray and stale beer.

BJM म्हणाले...

knox, your link should have a beverage warning!

Laura(southernxyl) म्हणाले...

At least he got his picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

Maybe it's my inner fabulousness coming out, but there's nothing about that photo that screams "gay" to me. He's obviously mixing up gender signals intentionally, hearkening back to the glam boys like David Bowie; but those guys weren't necessarily gay. They were just exploring a middle ground of sexuality, not quite straight and not quite gay, which is actually a much more interesting area for an artist to occupy than just jotting oneself down in the "gay" column.

I looks to me like dear little Lambert is exploring the middle counter at M.A.C. cosmetics more than anything else. When your face looks like it's molded out of FIMO and you're 27 years old, it might be time to re-evaluate some things.

Chris Althouse Cohen म्हणाले...

Well, he certainly played the gay card well. He didn't acknowledge it but put out plenty of hints on YouTube prior to the show, refused to answer questions about his sexuality after the show was over just long enough to be "in the closet" and therefore able to stage a big coming out thing, used coming out as a way to get the best magazine cover you could possibly get, and somehow managed to negotiate a deal where that very magazine cover would make no mention of his coming out in the article and would appear to just be about how "wild" he is as a performer. On the show, he got all the credit for being out without having to deal with any of the consequences, and now he gets the big cover but gets the appearance of it not being about his coming out. He is quite media savvy and played the game for maximum attention.

Chris Althouse Cohen म्हणाले...

Oh, I do like that he acknowledges in the article that he's fat. Bad skin isn't quite as much of a revelation, and people can forgive bad skin, but people act like he's hot when he's quite out of shape and can't possibly look good naked. But props to him for admitting it.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

Thanks, mcg.

Yeah, I don't care.

Unknown म्हणाले...

wtf? does it matter if he's gay? he's different and has ihis own style which is a good thing. if he didnt dress and be so out there it probs wldnt matter if he was gay or not. he's an amazing singer/performer that shld be all that matters some ppl are screwed in the head...

Unknown म्हणाले...

plus does it matter if he's not as slim as he could be???????? ppl shld acknowledge him 4 his performance, if ppl think he's hit then they think he's hot... btw adam if u wanna glue rhinestones to ur eyelids...go ahead bb have ur own style cause even if ppl say crap bout u, u will still hav ur fans <3
