Those are excellent photos but they do little to covey the sensation of sheer terror that is the unavoidable price one pays for daring to walk near the street at rush hour.
Gratefully, the natives seem to understand this and hardly give a second glance at lame tourists like me inching their way along storefronts, gritting their teeth with their backs against the wall, hyperventilating pure auto exhaust and digging their fingernails into solid granite.
But I cheerfully recommend that everyone should go for a little stroll after visiting The Vatican!!!
No, it's Gelato, which is different. I had an opportunity to go there with the wife last summer. Rome in July is very hot, but otherwise it's a wonderful city.
I might add that the Villa Borghese is fantastic, but they do hustle you through there on a tight time schedule. The park outside the Villa is wonderful for ambling on a hot day.

I love Rome. I would move there. And yes, the gelato is the best in the world.

Unusual things to look for in Rome: the cloaca maxima, one the oldest public works still in use.

I spent a night in that park once: not recommended!
