Out in Florida the grass is so dry you hear it crunch as you walk on it. In leafy shade you feel like you're going to die (unless there's a stiff breeze). And even tortoises are too hot to move very much.
Call me crazy, I have decided that my summer vacation will be spent visiting my old college friends in Tampa. I haven't been since 2003, and the summer is the cheap season...
Will the professor be able to pry Meade away from his native heath? Or will occasional visits back be enough?
Meade sings: The old home town looks the same, As I step down from the train, And there to meet me is the good old Belgian sheep dog. Down the road I look and there runs Althouse Hair of gold and lips like hot house Tomatoes It's good to touch the green, green grass of home Yes, they'll all be there to meet me, All creatures smiling sweetly It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.

Beautiful life in a beautiful place. Just remember, somewhere there is said to be one tree you are not to eat from.
Yum! Where's the pizza from?
All these Cincinnati posts make me a little homesick.
Ohio tennis balls to rest your picnic nose on.
Some linkage for the lovely Ann.
And for the record, your pictures are amazing.
I love the pizza & bottle cap still life. Great photo. Good luck with the new camera.
Thank god you have the sense to keep your private life off-blog!
The pizza is from Padrino -- on Main Street in Milford.
Nothing like a sopping wet, greasy pizza to set the mood !
Love,
Maxine
I was out at the old River Market in Kansas City.I love being able to walk down there.
May I introduce you to the Weedwacker 400.....

That's a Gorky pizza, ignoring its being in series with the leaves.
Nothing like a sopping wet, greasy pizza to set the mood !What Maxine fails to spot is the pot canopy ;)

One problem the Republican Party has is all too many members of the Religious Right took that bit of scripture literally.
fls,
You beat me to it.
The romance and charm of grease puddles at the bottom of a cardboard pizza box.
Appetizing and delightful !
Love,
Maxine

Former law student: Are you suggesting that Meade is an imprisoned man awaiting his execution? Cuz that's what that song is all about.
The leaves are from a Japanese maple.

What were you guys thinking anyway, Althouse obviously buys her pot from kids on campus. Why else do people teach?
Oh, I feel stupid! Now the "grass" makes sense. And the pizza (carbs!).
All this time in Cincinnati and we've yet to see a picture of Big Butter Jesus? Surely the drowning monument off of I-75 is bloggable.
Make sure you stop off at Jungle Jim's one of these days. One of my favorite grocery stores.
I was wondering how they got that stuff over state lines, what with Althouse taking planes and all, and I think I have it figured out.
They fill condoms full of pot and feed them to the dog. (That's why it always looks so constipated.)
Poor baby!
That looks like a pizza bianco--one of your healthier pizzas, I guess.
Not on the same level as the chili a few weeks back.
Maxine, those stains aren't grease.
