See that Twitter-doubters? Ashton Kutcher and his million plus Twitter followers brought you Susan Boyle. Mock not the sleeping beast, lest it wake and wreak its angry havoc again!

Something a only a cat lover can admire?

I love the idea of NPR deciding when something is "hip" or "over".

Usually by the time they report it, anything that was hip is over.

of course jason and palladian...that's why so many educated people listen to it....what part of huge audience following don't you understand...

for the love of God, can't you put your provincial, meanspirited and downright lame cheap shots to rest for a minute?.... and jason, those shades...talk about "over".

hdhouse, I listen to NPR all the time, and not just for the music (it's the only chance you get to hear baroque music).

They are great material for Tweeting.

I think NPR is all about style and very little about substance. Their usual strategy is to go somewhere or to something and ask one or two people who are standing around questions. But unlike Jay Leno, who likes to pick people who sound stupid, NPR tries to pick people who sound intelligent or "authentic". It costs them almost nothing!

They did a report on the tribal zone of Pakistan a while back. The reporter was nowhere near the tribal zone, but he interviewed his taxi cab driver on the subject, then had the driver take him to some people looking for work on the side of the road (from the tribal zone) one of whom he talked to. Then he drove back to his hotel. That was the entirety of the report.

People lap it up!

Also, hdhouse, I love your cat picture (so cute!). Oh, and these aren't "shades" or sunglasses.

The part where you think a "huge audience" whose median member is a 48-year-old white suburban professional is likely to be a pop culture bellwether.

There are cat calenders?

I'll go out on a limb here and predict that the "Cat Calendar Tolerance Level" half-life of the next sensation from Britain's Got Talent will be slightly more abrupt than Susan Boyle, with no "Line Of Ironic Resistance" bounce.

Susan Boyle still reminds me of Micky Dolenz, with a cat even.

Why am I writing like Snagglepuss?
Heavens to Murgatroyd, exit stage left.

I hope she doesn't submit to having herself dolled up.

I like that she's an actual British woman who looks like a Monty Python male actor dressed up as a British woman.

Never change, baby!

What's on the telly?

I think it's a penguin.
