Obama seems to not have a sense of the dignity of the office of President. This is similar to him getting in a pissing contest with Rush Limbaugh. Presidents are supposed to be above this sort of thing.
I can't help but think how the Special Olympics line would have been played by such fair liberals as AlphaLib and hdhouse and freder and Zachary and Ddl and every other well meaning but knee-jerk liberal if the exact same thing was said by George W Bush.
Yeah - I'm calling your lovable but hypocritical asses out. 7 years of your Bush is "dumb and soooo embarrassing" shit. You boys just got served.
Hey, no problem. Everything in DC is waay smooth. WH appointments are all made, currency is stable, Congress is calm and cool, budget is balanced, no wars being fought, no enemies rattling their sabers, and the economy is robust.
So why not hang with the peeps for a few days?
Besides, President is just a token position. The country is actually run by the Speaker of The House and the Senate Majority Leader and some lobbyists, so why noe kick back for a few days?
"What me worry" is the line that runs thru my mind watching the beautiful, smiling President Obama facing the problems of ruling the world. He acts like he is too nice a guy to ever see any evil. It always surprises him, even if he has been associated with it for 20 years. We have been had. The need to believe in the noble goodness of Mr Obama, our first Black President, has been used against everyone, from Hillary on. That tactic that worked so well for him will be his only trick for a long time to come. He won with it. A problem is that Obama's one trick doesn't work on Putin, or the Chinese leadership, or the Japanese, or any others not suffering from the guilt of having once enslaved Africans. It is supposed to still work on the British, since they participated in Slave Trade and Stole Kenya 150 years ago, so kiss-off is all the British Prime Minister got from our President Obama.
The difference is that Bush is dumb and Obama obviously is not. I do hope conservatives continue to argue the point though. Any continuing comparisons to Bush will help Obama.
The difference is that Bush is dumb and Obama obviously is not.
Right, right, right. Bush says something like that, it's a confirmation of how dumb he is; Obama says it, and it's a perfectly innocent little mistake made by a very intelligent person.
But by any standard, it was still pretty dumb. (And I voted for the guy.)
Frankly, I think all he should do is go on Leno and Letterman and The View and anything else, as long as he's not actually doing anything of any consequence.
If Tiger shot a 90 today you would not say he is a poor golf would you?
I don't know anything about golf. Is 90 a good or bad score?
BTW, President Obama did a fantastic job on Leno with just a one minor flub.
Your overall point seems to be, President Obama is so wonderful, he somehow transcends criticism. While I wouldn't expect you to have the same visceral reaction to his mistakes as you would to the mistakes of people you oppose, it is my hope that I do not become so enamored of any president that I consider that person above well-deserved criticism.
It's amusing to see people say, "Bush is dumb and Obama is smart." Has it not occurred to anyone that Bush has an MBA from Harvard, at a time when it was even more difficult to get than it is now? Sure, a legacy could get an undergrad degree, but never an MBA.
I love all the right wingers telling Obama how to be President, what to wear, where to talk to people.
He's the President. He gets to talk to the American people through no end of venues.
Now, maybe someone can point me to the Ann Althouse thread where the Bushies, unlike Obama, filtered attendees to his appearances to only allow the loyal true believers?
Now, maybe somebody can point the rest of us non-Alpha-Liberals whose noses aren't tickling Barry's prostate gland at the moment, to the administration policy on dealing with that most urgent, "catastrophic" crisis in the nation's banking and financial system.
Oops, Barry and Timmy just bumped their deadline back for the third time, now sometime in April.
Wonder if they think they're immune to the "incompetent" label up at the White House? In other words, can they even be trusted to do the politics correctly, since the competent-governance thing appears to be beginning to slip away?

No.

Sure. Why not? If he can't do Leno, then he can't be a guest or do interviews for anyone. I don't see how Barabara Walters is any better.
Sure. As long as he doesn't do anything colossally stupid, like comparing his bowling skills to the Special Olympics.... :face palm:
Should he be doing that?
Well, let's see. Is Obama:
a) funny?
b) auditioning for a future job?
c) running for reelection?

One gets the feeling from watching the Presioent on Leno last night that he's Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time.
I thought he was supposed to be an "articulate" and "clean".
Oh and for the Jon Stewart Dittoheads:
Looking forward to the hay the noble and so very smart Mr Stewart will make of Obama and his bowling/Special Olympics remark.
Oh that's right. Stewart can't - no real balls. His are plastic and have a string tied to the DNC.
Too bad.
What a retarded thing to say.
Should he be doing that?

Why not do Leno. Obama is the best stand up comic and clown we have.
Peter=Ringling Bros. Circus would be a better stage for this unable to speak without a teleprompter clown.
How long before Letterman asks for equal time?
It was better than Henry Kissinger on Dynasty.
There's an argument for the President doing an interview that will be seen by the kind of people who don't watch the Sunday shows.

Wait a year and they might not. This stuff adds up. The reality of recession eats away at people's tolerance for mistakes.
L.E. Lee said I do hope conservatives continue to argue the point though.
Never get in the way when an opponent is self-destructing.

We have truly elected Zaphod Beeblebrox.

seems like Obama would be a night show guest since he's so good at rolling with the punches

Time will tell.
The difference is that Bush is dumb and Obama obviously is not.
Oh, that is SO true!
Remember when Bush gave the British Prime Minister a bunch of DVDs that wouldn't play on an English DVD player?
Or when he bumped his head on Marine One?
Or when he said there were 57 states?
What a maroon that guy was!!
Should he have done it?
It's clear he should never be off the TelePrompTer.
