Was I supposed to watch inaugural ball crap on TV? I didn't exactly forget, but I was tired of watching simmering crowds. Show me few seconds of choice video and leave me alone. Here, Katharine Q. Seelye followed the evening festivities:
All night they’ve been leaning back and forth in lieu of dancing, and stepping on Mrs. Obama’s dress; he’s been saying he wants to dance with “the one that brung me,” and he tells the crowds that his wife is doing everything he does except backwards and in heels. The difference is that for the last few balls, they have actually looked exhausted. So he's dragging himself through these things for the benefit of the folks who worked hard for him. And he's stepping on that bulky, drapey dress. Shouldn't that have been the #1 consideration? Michelle Obama needed a dress she could dance in — that her husband would look elegant and capable moving around. So were they leaning back and forth in lieu of dancing because they were exhausted or because the puddle of fabric at the floor had him stepping on it even when the dance had zero foot work?

Ah, well, the party's over. Get to work, now. Step on it. And try not to step in it.

Obama stayed to the very end of the parade too. I liked that.
"And try not to step in it"
Careful. That could be taken as racist.
Not sure where else to put this, but are you aware that today is a very special holiday? Thought it might interest you!
I thought the ball dress looked like one of the Azalea Trail Maids after a particularly vigorous roll in the hayloft with a rough stableman on a humid August afternoon.
I wasn't impressed with Mrs. Obama's choices yesterday. Sparkly is inappropriate for a morning/early afternoon occasion. The ball gown looked like something she let Sasha pick out.
If she and B.H. had come to the ball dressed in Abe and Mary Todd Lincoln drag I would have loved them forever.
Thought for the day: we've learned how to ignore white racists, so lets ignore black racists too. Their day is over now. Just move on to some topic that is relevant to real life and ignore the racial preference demands from whites and from blacks.
Although I generally like Michelle Obama's style picks, I too thought they were horrible.
The green/yellow brocade thing looked like she had taken a couch cover from her grandmother's house and made a bulky coat and dress. Yes. Yes. It was cold, but that is no excuse for looking frumpy.
She is a 'winter' in coloring and looks great in bright clear colors and the muddy color choice of the lemony/green was not flattering.
The ball gown looked like she also went into her grandmother's bedroom and stole the chenille bedspread.
Michelle has a difficult body for some styles of clothing. She is tall, wide shoulderd, fairly flat chested, small waisted and has a huge rear end. If she isn't careful she will look boxy and looming. Mostly her choices are flattering. Yesterday's weren't

My God....she's a Tauren!
;-)
Jill Biden looked hot yesterday. Did you see those black leather fuck-me boots she wore to the inauguration? She killed.
Michelle was just blah. Her ball gown was kind of charmin-y.
I hadn't seen this dress yet. I don't like it. It looks like a thirteen year-old's cotillion dress. Oh well.
Though the picture at The Anchoress makes it look worse than in the other pictures I've seen, I still like the gold daytime dress. I think it could have been better tailored to be much more flattering, but I liked the gold material, and I liked this style.
I actually think that she has an excellent body type for looking good in clothes. Tall, broad shoulders, flat chest, tiny waist, this is the stuff of clothing models. I do concede, however, that the clothes must be selected well and tailored properly.
I dunno, we just elected a black President and got a black First Lady in the bargain and we can't even get them to dance? I question the timing, or something.
Who is that guy who if he was awake would say that was racist?
She's built like a linebacker.
And, remember, ladies....free cosmetics....

Major lawsuit settlement. Told my wife about this yesterday. Hadn't seen her so happy in years.....
Michelle: Barrack honey, does this dress make my booty look big?
Barrack: (looks frantically for his Secret Service detail) Ahhhh....uhhh...errr.....Michelle honey, I can't answer with any kind of specificity. That's above my paygrade.
Joe Biden: I can't believe I'm about to be President....
The ball gown looked like something she let Sasha pick out.
Don't pin this on Sasha. She's got much better taste.
"Michelle has a difficult body for some styles of clothing. She is tall, wide shoulderd, fairly flat chested, small waisted and has a huge rear end. If she isn't careful she will look boxy and looming."
Sounds like she would make a good power forward.
She's quite a beautiful woman, despite having an imperfect body for fashion. Great expressive eyes, lovely hair, fabulous skin. The yellow day dress yesterday made her look great partly because it flattered her skin color--probably an appropriate emphasis in light of everything.
She looked happy and relaxed, instead of the wary look shoe wore during much of the campaign. Hope she can continue to project that side consistently.
I'm wondering now if that yellow inaugural dress (not brocade, but Swiss wool lace, backed with netting for warmth and lined in French silk) was worn over a Kevlar vest? She looked bulkier than usual and they did, as planned, get out of the limo to wave at the crowds.
Let's face it. There haven't been any attractive First Ladies since Jackie Bouvier married into the Kennedy Gang. Maybe by a Con. Amendment we could require that there be an American Idol contest for a First Lady Idol who can stand in during photo shoots for that mere wife who only lucked into the job? Thank God Huckabee didn't win this time.
Sounds like she would make a good power forward.
Or a female Tauren boomkin. lol Hoosier :-)
Christy. Yes she looked bulky. I would hope it wasn't because they were so fearful that they resorted to wearing combat gear. I prefer to think they were freezing their asses off, layered up and the clothing was just not cut to flatter.
Jackie had incredibly bowed legs from riding.
Michelle has thighs, long and wide.
Yeah, mostly she looks good, but Michelle's dresses did not flatter her. Somehow that makes me like her a little.
And who doesn't know that big white dresses make you look fat?! She looked best in that photo of them with the Blagos.

I blogged just the opposite, at least about the Inauguartion dress. Amanda Carpenter of Townhall sniped that the colour should be called "sour sunshine", which is pretty good actually.
But I think it worked for her, because most First Ladies (with the exception of Jackie Kennedy) look frumpy on the day. So it made her look like a traditional First Lady, rather than a HopeyChangey kind of one, which might've jarred many Americans.

This reminds me of the conservative meme yesterday, that Obama toned down the soaring rhetoric in his Address, and gave a mediocre one, so as to dampen his supporters' expectations of him.
If you believe that (I don't, too much was riding on it), then it is possible it was a concerted effort by both to appear unremarkable.
For a 'change'.
Cheers,
Victoria
Yeowww..........uuuugly!!!!
I have no particular eye for fashion and generally don't take notice, but....cheese cloth? Did someone raid the local pharmacy of all its gauze? And what were thos puffy things?
Whoever designed and recommended the selection did nothing to take advantage of the beautiful line of her neck, arms and shoulders.
Observation: Michelle Obama has great arms. Some of those with flabby arms are jealous.
Michelle Obama is constantly screwing up her face into weird and unflattering expressions - like she cannot believe she is not the center of attention.

God, take her out more often, OG.

She does have great arms, but the problem with the dress was not a lack of sleeves. It was ugly broad strap and the way it draped off her waist. That style is not flattering to her shape at all, and it looks like something a twelve year old should be wearing.
I loved the day outfit with the coat, though. Just not the green shoes.
and it looks like something a twelve year old should be wearing.
Actually, it looks like a prom dress.
"Michelle Obama needed a dress she could dance in — that her husband would look elegant and capable moving around."
She is a smart lady. I wonder if this dress was "owed" to someone who helped or that there was some kind of understanding like that.
I bet she does not repeat the mistake.
If only political intelligence was as simple as what not to wear.
Trey
I loved the chartreuse outfit – the cut, the detailing and color. Very celebratory. As for the gown, besides it not being ‘danceable’, she should stay away from the off-the-shoulder look – it doesn’t really work for her frame. By the 2nd or 3rd ball, she was looking exhausted already. Perhaps comfort was too much a deciding factor in the choice. As for Jill Biden, great color, but a little too Linda-Evans-on-Dynasty for me.
chartreuse
I think it's too goldeny lemon to be chartreuse exactly, K*thy.
It looked like lemongrass which had been dipped in Clorox for 10 minutes.
(Listen to us)
I liked the top half of the dress.
The bottom half was a mess. Way too much fabric and she was uncomfortable and unable to dance in it.
All I think Jill Biden is cute but the big fuck me boots were not appropriate for the occassion.
Thank God we don't have to see Lynn Cheney's puss anymore. That is one ugly, fat mofo.
I hope she gets a tit job while being first lady.
I want my first lady to have big tits.
There haven't been any attractive First Ladies since Jackie Bouvier married into the Kennedy Gang
Never was a fan of Jackie and find Laura Bush to be very attractive.
(Jenna Bush was definitely the babe of the White House as far back as I remember.)
I could definitely see Jill Biden on top fucking Joe but good.
You know she is an animal in bed.
Love Jill's body. Fabulous legs. Great hair. Delish arms. Nice tits. Makeup well done. Love the tan. She's absolutely fabulous.
Maybe Michelle can have an operation to have parts of her hips chopped off as well. I think that would be helpful.
I would be interested in seeing Jill Biden naked.
I would also like to do a three way with Beau and Hunter Biden but who wouldn't?

Oh, now I'm disappointed in you, Tit-us. I despise breast implants. I thoughts gays had good taste.
as far as i can see she is about my height, about my shoulder width, and probably the same boobs as me. Her hips and tummy were to be disquised by this dress. That was the designers aim. It didn't work out too well. I would have gone with a different approach, but hey i only passed patternmaking 101 albeit my project was asked to be featured in the senior design show.
The Biden daughter is cute too. So are the Biden wives of the Biden boys. So are the Biden grand kids.
Very fabulous.
Not as fabulous as the Cheney girls but fabulous nontheless.
I like breast implants that you can't tell have been implanted.
I don't care for small tits though.
I enjoy a large pair of bouncy bubbley tits. I want to see them move when a women walks down the street.
I don't want to see a women's camel toe though, that is just wrong. A few pubes or shaved pubes visible in a lightly colored dress is completely fine though in the right setting.
Visible nipples are ok, again in the right setting.
Visible under the blouse, not visible as you can see the actual nipple. You should never be able to see the actual nipple unless you are doing it or are about to do it.
Also, "coloring nipples" a brighter color is fine for some occassions.
Balls should always be shaved. There is nothing worse than a hairy pair of balls.
Think of your partner for chrissakes men. Do you think anyone wants to teabag a couple of hairy balls. Also, shaving your balls will accentuate your hog.
A light dusting of pubes in front of the hog is fine too but too much hair around the hog diminshes the hog. You want to highlight the hog. Get rid of that brush around the base. You will be happier and your partner will be grateful. Also, there should be no hair on the actual hog. Sometimes pubes can infringe upon the hog itself. Do you think anyone wants to suck on a hairy hog? Well they don't.
One word came to mind when I saw the inaugural gown: Bjork.
Who is the fucking Anchoress and why should I want to read what she has to say?
More importantly what did Rush say?
Well, Titus, show me an undetectable (indetectable? ;~& ) boob job and we'll talk. Small real is better than big fake, esp. if nerve damage decreases the woman's responsiveness, which God forbid. I never held with "more than a mouthful/handful's wasted," though. Sometimes more is more.
But of course, ladies,
YOUR breasts are PERFECT!
As for shaving pubes: well, there's the itch thing and the maintenance thing. Do you know any good depilatories?
...I cannot believe I am having this conversation.
not that michelle has a big tummy at all. But she's gained one or two pounds there over the year as you know tummies slowly slips away after forty. So i bet she was hoping to look like a bit trimmer like that election night dress that put the black x over her waist.
As you can tell she's kept up with the upper body strength, probably doing pilates in her spare time keeping up the body core.
chartreuse

Can we stick to guy colors please? There's blue, red, yellow, green, purple, brown, shit brown and puke.
The rest is too confusing.

Dad, is that you?
See, David, my father once said this, after I asked for a mauve bedroom set.
"Men only know two colours: red and blue. The rest are poofs."
Truer words, my friend.
Cheers,
Victoria

LOL!!
All it was missing was the goosehead or whatever.
do not be ashamed to have the conversation about body hair. We have body hair where we have lots of sweat glands. The sweat glands we have in our underarms and our pubic area are combined with oily sweat glands. When you perspire you get rid of toxins. Oil glands help removes oil-soluble toxins that the body has have a hard time getting rid of...such as gasoline, solvents, pesticides and ingredients in toothpaste and personal car products,
It's my theory we have hair there for wicking purposes to draw the oily toxic sweat away from the body and keep those toxins from being absorbed right back in. If you shave the hair, no wicking properties. That's why I think breast cancer research should look into people who do not shave their armpits. Shaving your pubic area and wearing tight clothes and panty hose keeps heat and the toxins right on the skin. Not good in my opinion, but i'm no doctor. just a casual observer of my own body and health. That's what happens when you can't afford health insurance and you are a stubborn headed fighter. It keeps me alive but also keeps the police on my tail.
Factoid i read the other day:
Proper Perspiring relieves the kidneys of 30% of the workload
david,
sorry i did not edit properly. I am nervous from last night. I got a load of toxins last night delivered straight from cleaning fluid into my lungs. I had to spend the night in a hotel after the fire department was called, I was upset and went into fighter mode and the police were called. True to my thinking i woke up with a definite body odor i was not use to. i showered everything off quickly. Just can't afford sleeping in hotels. Also there's been cancer in my family lately so I goota be careful and take good care. I guess the fighter in me is good for my health in some ways.
Beware of people who use the word "toxins"...
whatever, beware... be wear
most of the rumors/research/bogus claims about underarms and breast cancer have to do with antiperspirants and what you put on the area. i don't know if people know about what comes out.
for what it's worth i don't use antiperspirants or deoderants, don't shave my underarms. I wash and rinse frequently. My sister and mom both had breast cancer.
I probably stink so the odor would drive you away.
"My sister and mom both had breast cancer."
Worry about genetics, not about "toxins".
and if i do have the genetics for it, how do i lessen my chance? change my genes or tight jeans?
i refuse to be tested for the gene. Though, who knows what they did to me when they were taking viles of blood for other reasons and other medical procedures where i can't see where the sun don't shine.
Like i told my sister last night. I've traveled, seen poverty and prominence, seen my kids have grandkids, if the dear lord wants to take me I'm ready. Till then i will try to eat toxin free because it tastes better, too. It's the only enjoyment i have left in my life. Too bad no one cares to have dinner with me. THEIR loss. I don't like funding the pharma industry either. Probably MY retirement fund loss.
Back to the ball dress! (I can't bring myself to call it a ball gown.)
No self-respecting debutante would be caught in that dress, dead or alive. It is the most horrid thing I've ever seen. I wouldn't even put it on a Barbie doll.
I liked the lemongrass (or whatever color it is) dress and thought the color of the gloves was great. The shoes, not so much.
forgive me for getting off topic. I'm supposed to concentrate on not solving big problems of others but my own baby steps.
Anyway... yea dresses and gowns.
as for color identification. hmmmmm i still am liking the divison of race into blond/red/olive/black more better than red/yellow/black /white. like the statue in the park.
That dress made her butt look HUGE. I wonder if she asked Barack before they went out, "Honey, does this dress make my butt look big?" Barack probably thought, "Man, aren't I the President? Don't you have staff now to advise you? Give a brother a break!" But the good part of all this is that if Capt. Sullenberger has problems with another plane, and the Hudson River or another water body isn't available, he can land the plane on Michell'e big booty. I predict this will be the first crisis in the Obama White House. Someone will have to be fired for not telling Michelle the dress was horrible.
That dress was designed by Jason Wu who is best known for designing dresses worn by trannies... and RuPaul...
though I don't think RuPaul would be caught dead in it...

So he didn't go to Iowa State University, I bet. They start from more of an engineering approach to design and move into the artsy stuff later in the program. That was how it was back in 1978. I pulled out my Hollen Patternmaking book and my MS Hillhouse (hillhouse, that's an appropriate name) Draping and Flat Pattern Making book last night. I reviewed some stuff that was gorgeous. I just looked for that book on Amazon and see that it goes for as much as $200. Wow. That's kinda cool that I still have it.
How quickly the success of Iowa fades away. I remember you, Iowa.
