Jeremy Piven "is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer."
Said David Mamet on the occasion of Piven's quitting his part in "Speed the Plow" supposedly because he discovered that he has a high level of mercury in his body.

And the tags "Mercury" and Theater" bring to mind Orson Welles.
Piven indirectly confirmed Mamet's statement in a comment about his former co-star's reaction to his departure, "That's cold."
Perhaps instead of a thermometer, Piven could use the mercury to stop being such a toothache of a man.
Every 10,000 hours or so David Mamet says something clever. He still can't direct movies worth a shit though.
Has anybody asked him if he's broken any compact compact fluorescent light bulb lately?
Jeremy Piven has yet to reach the required 10,000 hours to be a first class thermometer.
